Before booking, I saw a lot of people saying that the food here was not good, and I was very nervous. When I ate the breakfast buffet, I found it was okay, but there were not many varieties, but the quality was okay. It is the facilities to complain. There is no separate compartment for the toilet and shower. It was understandable that the design was not considered at that time. But what is incomprehensible is, can't we add a shower curtain? After taking a bath, the bathroom was splashed and messed up. If you want to use the toilet or brush your teeth later, sorry, you have to get in.

After the long lockdown and the self imposed restrictions we visited the Tree of Life resort for a mini break. True to the USP of the brand, it is indeed a small and spread out property in the foothills before Mussoorie, and welcome pets. The owners are a warm family and make you feel at home. The warmth of a homestay and the quality of a resort this place offers a niche combination. No one knows it better than the local occupants and owners Rachna and ***oviraj go out of their way to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable in the true sense. They really keep checking on the guests without being intrusive. The location gets extra brownie points for the proximity to Mussoorie, Haridwar and Rishikesh - each under 2 hours and could be planned as day trips. The in-house restaurant offers a la carte options and we devoured the pahadi chicken and the lal maas. Absolutely delightful and very different from all I’ve tried in the past. The chef is great and very accommodating- one needs to specify what they’d like for the meals in advance and consider it done. We had Chinese for one of the lunches and the kids were treated to pasta and pancakes on other meals. The rooms are fairly big and they have options for queen and king sized beds, with the former being bigger than usual. Linen is spic and span and housekeeping does a good job. The little sit out outside the rooms, the gazebo for barbecue and a sprawling restaurant with the billiards table are a sure hit for the tired souls who have been confined to their homes/rooms during COVID. The owner also runs a non profit setup that provides employment to women of Uttarakhand. They have a store at the resort called Pure Hands which makes beautiful hand knit stuff for kids and adults. Absolutely stunning!
