Water's Edge Resort & Spa

We absolutely loved Water's Edge Resort. It was the quintessential New England Resort. The grounds were so pretty and it was nice to relax by the water, then take a dip in the pool. We ate at the outside bar and listened to live music. The rooms, however dated, are well appointed, spacious and very comfortable. We did not take advantage of the Spa but I plan to visit Water's Edge again and explore Westbrook and surrounding areas.

My room was next to the AC (211). I couldnt sit on the balcony for 5 minutes without developing a headache. After sitting in my car for 2.5 hours in traffic I was forced to check out. I was told that there were no rooms available that were comprable to my room.

I've had some lovely stays at The Water's Edge but I am not having one this evening. Avoid the "Library" building: it's surrounded by the parking lots, has no elevator, and has a glimpse of the water ONLY IF you can twist your neck and gaze through the parked cars--at least from the first floor. The fridge is my room is broken. The air-conditioner is noisy. The rooms in this "quaint" building are very close together. The TV is small and the console on which it sits is pretty shabby. The bathroom looks like it's located in a Best Western outside Milwaukee (sorry, Milwaukee). Luxury this is not. They are "very full" but I am VERY glad to be a guest for only one night--usually I hate to leave. Be careful when booking your room.

Nice stay at the Water’s Edge. Time share hotel with all the ammeneties. Beach (cold water) pool inside and out, gym, restaurante, bar etc etc Nice view from the room. We had two queen beds with balcony. There is a nice small town nearby to drive too.

The hotel was extremely old and not updated in any aspect. The rooms have a musty smell. The music from the bar blasts so loud you can feel the vibration in most rooms and hear the base. For what this hotel costs, there should be many renovations. Very disappointed.

14yrs since we met…with no kids, no thought of the heavy life and health issues we face daily…this weekend at Water’s Edge was amazing!!! The weather was in our favor, which allowed us to explore all of the amenities and even watch three beautiful weddings take place. Highlights of our stay were the private beach, the three bars with delicious cocktails and the best oysters I’ve ever had, live music you can’t sit down during and most of all, the TOP-NOTCH staff! Thank you Julia, Maggie and the busting-her-butt blonde who I didn’t get the name of at the outdoor dining spots, thank you Jeremy for the incredible service and extra effort at the Bistro, and thank you Steve, the General Manager, who makes this resort look easy to run, but by no means is! Can’t wait for our next getaway xoxo

Hello, My family and I recently stayed at waters edge in July. This was our second year as a family staying at waters edge. We rented a villa both years. Prior to that I had been coming to waters edge with my family for the last 20 years. We are about to book this same trip for next summer 2025 however we are reluctant. The service encountered at Water’s Edge was the absolute worst customer service experience we have ever had at a resort! We want to bring these issues to your attention. 1. After our stay this past July I received a survey from the resort, let whoever reads these surveys know everything regarding our stay, with no response. 2. We had trash outside our villa from a previous guest from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, no staff member ever picked it up. 3. There were heavy rains while we were there, afterwards there was wash out with rocks on the walks - this was never cleaned up and the beach was never cleaned up or raked once. My kids didn’t even want to go back to the beach that’s how bad it was. 4. THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART OF OUR STAY IS THIS! We had dinner at the outdoor bar/restaurant where the live music was one evening. I won’t get into all the small details, however after being seated we received our meals 2.5 hours after placing our orders, and the orders were taken roughly 1 hour after being seated. My husband asked to speak with the manager, the manager came out with a major chip on his shoulder and only stated that they were busy and could have cared less about us or our dinners!!! THEN - A SHORT TIME LATER WE WITNESSED THIS SAME MANAGER TELL A WOMAN IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE RESTAURANT TO GO F**K HERSELF!!! IN FRONT OF KIDS AS WELL!!!! If this is the service that we should expect to receive next summer we will not be returning to this resort. Can either the owner or a real manager please respond to this? Nice week, well kept nice grounds, lots going on if you want it. (Restaurants, live music, beach and pool). picturesque long Island sound on site. Historic and beautiful part of Connecticut. (Weather was perfect, that always helps)

We had family visiting from Texas, and since they never get to spend time on the water, we thought it would great to take them to Water's Edge for a really special memory - boy were we wrong. • The service was absolutely horrible. • We were actually told by the staff that we weren’t a priority for them. Here are the details of how our painful night unfolded: 7pm - When we arrived, the hostess let us know there were 3 different tables outside that were just about finishing up, so she'd let us know once the first table was cleared for us. Since it was a night night we waited outside along the patio to enjoy the views. As a result, we had a direct view of the tables we were waiting for. We watched all of the tables empty out - and then just sit with dirty dishes on them. No one cleaning them off. 5 minutes...10 minutes...15 minutes. At the 20 minute mark, I finally we walked up to one of the bus boys and explained we're waiting for one of these tables do you think you could clean it off. He responded, we're setting up the music in the bar. That’s our priority. These tables aren’t really important now that it’s later in the evening, so you’ll just need to be patient, and someone will get to it. Another 15 minutes later, they finally sent someone who did a rushed job of spraying down the placemats and told us we could sit down. Things went downhill from there. Another 15 minute wait for getting menus, when our appetizers came out they didn't bring out any plates for us - so we had to hunt down the bus boy. The clam chowder was cold, and thick like mud. And our waitress was no where to be found. No asking how the food was. No drink refills. No 2nd round of cocktails. Completely ignored. By 9:50pm – we were pretty frustrated that we were being ignored – so I once again walked inside to find a bus boy. Asked for some to-go boxes, and I asked where our waitress was. I was told she was “in the office”. 10 minutes later, as we’re literally standing up around the table boxing up our meals, the waitress comes out. Says “oh sorry for the delay – do you need any additional boxes”? She drops off what I think is the check, but it turns out to be the dessert menu. Really - as we're standing up you think we're going to order dessert... so I ask if she could grab our check for us. Another block of time goes by where we're completely ignored. 10:10pm – at this point I’m the only person at the table. Everyone else in the family has left – and I’m sitting waiting for the bill. She drops of the bill, does apologize for the delay. I explain to her that we’ve been coming to Water’s Edge for years, normally we love this place, we brought our family from Texas…and tonight was a train wreck. She said she had a personal issue, which I sympathize with… but she didn’t say let me talk to my manager about what we can do for you.
