I write this having just checked out and my only complaint is that we leave too early, wish we had another couple of days here. Theresa and Jan were amazing hosts with two evening meals for our party of 13 that were just lovely. Fresh local produce and an enthusiasm for the region was a joy to behold. The gardens and verandas lead to a relaxed colonial feel and you could while away hours doing nothing . Stop here but better, stay for a while. Thank you for a magical couple of nights.

I stayed here for a night en route south. De Rust itself is pretty enough but not really as charming as other villages in the area - in my view. But Housemartin certainly has charming and efficient hosts, spacious and practical rooms, wholesome meals, a cosy pool and braai area, lovely gardens ... all of this and more. This may not be luxury or the most imaginative of cuisines, but you will find efficiency, good, solid, unpretentious quality and a no-nonsense approach. At R1 200 per night single DB&B, this was very good value. Recommended!

I had the previledge to stay in Housemartin for 2 nights in February 2025. What a stunning guest house. All in all it has everything you need. The faciltiies is great, secure ample parking, a beautiful communal swimming pool/braai area and very friendly hosts. Next stay in De Rust will certainly be at Housemartin.

Having stayed at House Martin on three separate occasions is testament to how much we enjoy staying there.Jan and Theresa are the friendliest most welcoming owners.The rooms are spacious and always spotlessly clean with super comfy beds dressed in lovely linens, the showers have strong water pressure and all the rooms have air conditioners. There is a sparkly swimming pool which we have made much use of during our stays.There is nothing that has not been thought of to make sure that your stay is comfortable. During our last stay we were treated to a delicious three course meal that was set up next to the swimming pool. We look forward to our next stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights, I was part of an Exodus group on the Garden route and Cape Town holiday. Fabulous stay with great food and warm welcome. The rooms are great with individual verandas and welcome drink and biscuits. Appreciated the pool for cooling down in the hot days.

Delightful accommodation and such warm hospitality with excellent meals. An oasis on a hot day with a wonderful receptive arrival from our hosts. Thank you so much - would definitely stay again should we pass through De Rust again.
