The recent review by John and Jenny Taylor sums up perfectly how we experienced the Langstone Cliff Hotel. My wife was celebrating a 'landmark birthday' & the reception staff arranged exactly how I ordered, a suprise room welcome of champagne, flowers and local chocolates. The staff were brilliant and despite being extremely busy were only too keen to help with a smile and is a tribute to them, their training and the longevity of the hotel. We had an upgraded room with a beautiful sea view. The hotel does have an indoor swimming pool, an excellent snooker and darts room and a table tennis room. You can relax in a wide range of comfortable seats and sofas and be waited on too. The food was excellent and I personally was looked after in the dining room because of my health issues which made our stay more enjoyable. We will return as soon as possible. Thank you for a memorable week!

Lovely hotel with excellent staff. Comfortable big lounges and verandah overlooking the gardens and sea. Food was excellent with good choices on the menu it was difficult to choose as everything was so good. Gluten free options available. We stayed in ground floor room with balcony overlooking the grounds. Friendly helpful staff in all areas of the hotel

We booked as a quick few days away. The view from hotel overlooking the sea was beautiful. They have a covered terrace where you can sit eating a snack lunch or just having a quiet drink. I am in a wheelchair and was able to get round the whole hotel. Every room was tastefully decorated with lots of comfy seats and sofas. We watched the England football game surrounded by families and children and they accept dogs, so it felt like a home. There is a great choice of menu every meal and on several occasions we asked for some slight alteration to the meal, like no walnuts, no bacon bits and they obliged with no hesitation. All staff were warm and welcoming and we felt like we were friends not paying guests. We actually wish we had booked for longer, but I got sunburnt on first day on the beach which is a ten minute walk from the hotel, it's a gentle slope then a flat walk to beach. Oh yes I forgot to mention the indoor is wonderful a great temperature and easy steps for me to leave wheelchair and get into the pool which was warm, perfect. We can highly recommend to everyone who wants a home from home feel to a family run modern hotel, with good WiFi See you in September

Attitude and facilities for the disabled customer are shockingly bad. Food for their Xmas party was great but today for £25 the food was very disappointing. The queues for food were really long and no assistance was available for disabled who were left to queue, try to manage their plate in one hand and a walking stick in another. Everyone was booked in at the same time 1pm and disabled left to wait standing for over 8 minutes because the staff didn’t open the doors. There is no offer for disabled to be seated first or offer to collect there meal for them. If each table went up one at a time it would have avoided all the congestion and long queuing times. Badly organised, even the cutlery and napkins had to be collected from the food area. There was very little space to queue and move around the service area. When I mentioned this to staff they offered suggestions and help but didn’t actually help at all. Made excuses, denied the problems. Dreadful experience. Completely unnecessary with more thoughtful management. I would like a full refund for the 4 of us.

This is a very popular family run hotel located in extensive grounds with views of the sea, albeit some distance away and the other side of the railway line. There is plenty of parking space, which is free for hotel guests. We booked to stay over Christmas and on arrival we were impressed by the beautiful decorations throughout the hotel and its grounds. Check in was quick and easy, and we were told that our room was on the first floor, up some stairs behind the Reception desk. My wife and I are both in our eighties, but no help was offered to assist in taking our luggage to our room, and it was quite a struggle for us. The room had an en-suite bathroom which was excellent and seemed to be almost new - it included a heated towel rail which was greatly appreciated, but, in contrast, the bedroom was a disappointment with cheap wooden furniture with drawers and doors that had sagged and didn’t shut properly. In the bedroom a very thoughtful touch was that a bin bag had been left with a note saying it was for wrapping paper etc. from any gifts that were exchanged. The room was heated by a radiator that seemed to have a mind of its own. There were some confusing instructions on how to operate it using a remote control, bur even a staff member agreed with us that the instructions were impossible to follow. Similarly, there were instructions on how to use the TV remote, but they were for a different model from that in our room. We had been sent a brochure containing interesting and very appealing menus for all the festive meals, so it was quite a disappointment to find on Christmas Eve that the main course was served carvery style and we had to join a long queue to fetch it. Christmas Day breakfast, and that on subsequent days, was the usual hotel buffet, but the selection and quality of food was excellent, and warm plates were provided. Lunch that day was somewhat of a disaster, mainly because we had to wait two hours to be served with our main course. The hotel manager took to the stage and apologised for the delays, but blamed them on the fact that they were very busy. As the hotel had accepted bookings from all present the management was fully aware of the numbers involved and should either have declined some bookings or taken steps to cope with them. As an aside, one of the main courses was ‘Thick sliced sirloin of beef’ but when it eventually arrived it was just a couple of very thin slices. In a similar vein, the Christmas Day buffet supper offered ‘A vast array of cold meats….’ but when we reached the front of the queue the only meat available was one slice of beef, and no staff were in sight to keep the various dishes topped up. Boxing Day dinner was being enjoyed when suddenly a very competent electric guitar player started up at a volume that prevented any conversation for the remainder of the evening. The same music at a lower volume would have been very enjoyable. Apart from the above complaints, all the food was excellent and served by

We met with some family for a coffee and light lunch. The coffee was fine, and the toasted sandwich was as expected. Service was quick and polite, despite them being busy. Would come back, and my partner and I are considering booking a room in the coming year.
