We were there for afternoon tea for a family celebration. We had a lovely time with everyone and the waitresses were lovely but unfortunately the afternoon tea experience was a let down. The room was too narrow, as were the tables which had a lot of glasses, crockery and cutlery on. There was also some kind of table attached to the wall which wasn't necessary and which again it was difficult for the waitresses to manoeuvre round. When the waitresses brought the food they were struggling to find room to put the platters down and we all had to quickly move things around. There was one pescatarian and one child in the group and when the soup and sausage roll was served there was no substitute for the pescatarian, not even a bread roll. Not good. I had also paid for a Prosecco afternoon tea and again there was no substitute drink for the child. Again not good because the price was still the same and I think substitutes should have been made. I was lead to believe that tea and coffee would also be included but again this didn't happen. The waitresses brought the sandwiches but the three platters all contained the same fillings , not assorted fillings, so we all had to walk up and down to choose different varieties When the sweet treats arrived, they looked and tasted lovely. However someone found a hair in the creamy dessert but didn't want to make a fuss so didn't say anything. Also there was a lovely personalised greeting included on the cake stand which I thought was a lovely touch. However it turned out that the greeting was from a friend who had asked them to place it there and the hotel did not mention this and took the credit. I didn't think that was very good. I think a lot of things need to be tweaked to make it a better enjoyable time. However, as I say the waitresses were excellent and the food was OK.
