Life lesson always read reviews! Wouldn’t give it 1 star if there was a choice. Yes it was cheap but it really wasn’t that great. Reception resembled a 1980,s American motel and about as welcoming as a funeral parlour, lift didn’t work, probably hasn’t worked since Noah was building his boat, luckily I was able to climb the stairs to the 3rd floor, room large, a triple for just me. Needed modernising or perhaps a dam good scub and a bottle or two of bleach. I don’t even think the Home Office would rent out such a place. Only one working light in my room, bed board screwed to the wall 🤔 what’s all that about, looks typical of an old school contractors hotel though they would even have standard these days. I could hear the guy in the next room chatting all night slightly annoying at 2 am could even hear him pee! Possibly has a UTI the amount of time he went. Not hot water in the shower reported to reception who said let it run I think after 20 mins how much more do you let it run so 2 cold showers even Wim Hof would have been proud of me. Tea and coffee provided but the long life caps of milk I think had past their life so black coffee the mild smelt off how is that possible? Breakfast wasn’t offered to be offered but think that was a lucky escape. Had a meal in the pub next door £4.20 for a pint of Cors, paid more for worse. Meal was edible just, but the pub was rougher than P40 sandpaper. Don’t think my standards are way too hight just a bit of cleanliness goes a long way. Thank god it was only one night l, I did look for another local hotel at 1am

Windows in rooms do not open so difficult to breathe. Rooms never cleaned so dirty sheets. Put me up top, lifts have not worked for years so had to drag heavy suitcases up 4 flights of stairs no help from staff. Roof leaking so they put towels in corridor to try and soak it up. Staff just stand around talking at reception doing nothing all the time apart from watching the tv screen in front of them.

I'm going to leave an honest review that was mine and my partners personal experience here, let's start with this first it's £55 a night stat, so those who expect the Ritz you won't get it for this price. I stayed in room 110 the lift was broken when I attended but wasn't a big deal to be quite honest. Room amenities were exactly what I'd expect for £55 only downside was no hair dryer nor shampoo/shower gel but when I asked the receptionist he gave us some (friendly staff not like other reviews) The bed was comfortable pillow was good in fact I had a good night's sleep, room 110 is facing the busy main road so was noisy if you had both sliding windows open, with the outer open and the inside closed (still allowed fresh air in) was a good sleep. They have a fridge on site for you to store food and a toaster and microwave for your use next to the foyer. They sell pot noddles for you to eat and they have plastic forks if you need one. I was in a triple room even though I booked a double so it was nice. The internet is very below par and when on Facebook as an example it struggles to load videos and or pictures and reconnects alot. The room was clean That being said we will definitely be staying again.

What a sh*thole. I arrived at about 1450hrs on the 16th. Was given room 304 (top floor). Lift was out of order so as a disabled person it took me a while to get up the stairs. Room 304 was unlocked, there were dirty towels on the floor, empty bottles everywhere and the bed was still unmade. I complained and was (grudgingly) given another room. Website says that the pub next door serves breakfast ( it doesnt) and has a cashpoint (again, no). I wouldnt stay here again if I was paid to.

I wish I’d read more reviews before booking this hotel, but we were limited for choice due to time constraints and having a dog with us. Apparently the lift hasn’t worked for years - and we were sent to the third floor! Window of room only opened a crack, barely letting in any (badly needed) fresh air. The curtain looked as though it has never been washed. The room was very tired and the carpet badly stained. The hot water in the bathroom was just about tepid if you let it run for long enough. I’m not sure if there are some permanent residents living there as well but we saw at least two women wandering about in their pyjamas in the middle of the afternoon when we checked in. We went to the pub next door for an evening meal (there is nowhere else unless you want to got back into your car and drive into town). When we came back a woman was standing outside the hotel having a heated argument on her mobile. When my husband went out 2 hours later to walk the dog she was till there, sobbing into her phone. On the morning we left two staff were frantically knocking on someone’s door and asking if they were ok. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. I know it's a pretty cheap hotel and I guess you get what you pay for - with hindsight wish we'd spent a bit more and got somewhere that doesn't look like it should be closed permanetly. At least it was only for one night!

I had a site to attend for work, which was about 15 - 20 minutes away, and this hotel room was the lowest cost, closest to the site that wasn't a camping site or hostel, or some kind of lodge where you share with others. Everything during my stay was absolutely fine and great value for money. With a long drive there was some key things I was looking for: - A bed (this was clean and reasonably comfortable) - A plug socket next to the bed (to have the phone plugged in for my alarm) - A Shower (I had no issues with fluctuating heat) - A place nearby to eat for dinner (The White Horse grill - offering typical pub grub is literally next door) Other things just weren't that important to me, but to summarise the other things: Plug in fan - the 2 layered window opens enough to let air in, but the fan is there if needed. TV - has the Amazon interface, enabling you to sign in to your Netflix, etc. or just watch regular terrestrial TV channels if you wish - tea and coffee sachets in room Minor things to take note off: - I felt the door lock was a bit fiddly to lock when leaving the room, and wasn't sure if I locked it right when inside before going to sleep (so put chain on) - but this is up to guest to get it right. - For the lighter traveller there is no iron or iron board in the room (maybe they have these at reception upon request, but I didn't need to ask) - The lift is out of service, and probably not cost effective to repair. Stairs are fine though, good exercise. I really don't have any complaints. You'd get noise as you would anywhere, and if on the roadside you can expect some traffic noise, especially if the windows are open, but for £55 a night, this was a bargain in my opinion and would have no problems booking this hotel again and I was requiring a stay in the area

Where do I start. This is shown as a 3 star hotel, not sure when these were awarded but due a re-inspection. The first room we were given, we had to ask to be moved, not sure what the unpleasant smell was but overpowering. Given another room on the 3rd floor, the lift is out of commission (large couch across the doors on the ground floor). Net curtain looked as if it wanted to escape and the curtain was missing a number of hooks. Furniture badly marked, the bedside table had a drawer nailed closed. No bedside lamps, the wall lights were on the opposite wall. The bath panel was cracked and no toiletries. No breakfast in the next door pub, had to go into Darlington for that. On our return to the hotel the smell of cooking coming from a few of the rooms was unpleasant (not take aways)
