Had a smashing stay here in April and will definitely stay again if I'm ever in the area. As other reviews have said, what you see is what you get, although I would go further and say this is one of those occasions where it's even better than the website & photos suggest. Oliver & Stephan are great hosts, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. And the Scrambled egg was some of the best I've had!! My bed (Sandy Esau room) was very comfortable! The resident cats are most entertaining too!

Love love love! This quaint guest lodge was so welcoming when we arrived. Stephen, the owner, gave us a tour of the lodge. Stephan helped us plan our route to Paternoster and booked our dinner at a lovely restaurant, Bistro 7. Our room was right next to the pool. The lodges restaurant has delicious food which came very quickly! All in all, I would highly recommend this lodge to everyone who's visiting Darling!

Enter a quaint historical building and exit into a lovely garden giving you an immediate sense of peace & tranquility. Beautifully appointed rooms. Lovely pool area with an abundant bird life. Stunning breakfast room, exquisitely decorated

I was here with a friend and we had very specific needs so I was delighted to find that it was exactly as described on the website and by other travellers (thank you for this). The room we had was lovely, clean and comfortable and just by the pool so perfect. I have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay.

Very friendly greeting from Stefan. The rooms are scattered around an interesting garden and small pool, with the breakfast room more or less in the middle. Parking is mainly in the quiet street. The bedroom is simple with comfortable beds. The only negative is the bathroom. Lighting was poor. Although there was a light combined with a magnifying mirror off the side of the basin, it was next to useless for two reasons: it only stayed on for a few seconds and it was in the wrong position for shaving. Another downside was the shower. The taps have seen better days and took a lot of time to adjust to get the right temperature. Breakfast was very good with a good choice on the buffet. The cooked breakfast was beautifully presented.

Excellent room/bed/breakfast. Interesting regional history museum. Great nearby hike. Not to be missed: Darling Brewery and Darling Sweets. The lodge was super comfortable. Attentive and low key hosts. It's a joy all around. If you want to break up a trip from the north, say from St Helena Bay or wherever, on your way to CPT, I'd totally recommend staying in Darling. Local people very chill. The population is 1,000.

Stayed for the weekend in the Elmie Smit room. Spotless. The other garden room booked was also spotless. The host Stefan was extremely friendly. The fridge in the room worked really quickly from been switched on when we arrived. Lights that work when there is loadshedding. Pool clean and refreshing. Breakfast was lovely. Good selection on the buffet, with a cooked breakfast as well. Fantastic marmalade!!! Only downside was the shower. It should have a mixer tap to reduce water wastage, as it takes almost 2 minutes just to get the temperature right between the 2 taps, with the water just wasting away. Also, the floor in the shower looked great with the stones, but very uneven, and very painful on the feet (but I have serious problems with my feet, so for others it should be no problem). Would love to stay again. Perfect little oasis!

Soooo relaxing. 6 star comfort. Amazing ambience. Fantastic breakfast, outstanding linen and beds! 3rd stay here over 6 years. The new pool area is so well finished. Nothing is too much trouble for Stephan and his team . WiFi is powerful. Great being children and animal free area.
