Disgusting dump..upstairs the bathrooms were a filthy crumbling mess..shower stalls filthy with grime,taps,lightbulbs ,electrical switches broken or missing.paint peeling.a dead fridge on the landing...beyond the smokestop doors upstairs some asian people using the upstairs laundry as a kitchen .cooking with open flame gas burner.!!! A death trap..cooking smells permeating the upstairs during the night ie around 10.30 the indian manager was shouting into his cellphone in the hallway with no regard to guests..i stepped into the hallway to ask him to be quiet.as he walked back past my room he shouted something in hindi..so sad .they need to get rid of this guy .he has no idea.it was a classy hotel many years ago.now it looks like some slum hotel in kolkata..

We had a lovely dinner which exceeded all expectations. Nicely cooked The restaurant was very dated but a lick of paint would make a big difference. We shared scallops wrapped in bacon and the scotch fillet with mushroom sauce fries and salad

On behalf of someone whos VISITED recently from the 405 Very disappointing DO NOT RECOMMEND 04/07/24 and never again!!!!! From the farnorf last I'll ever choose on my list thank you for your time but no thanks... I was born and bred dargaville and never met such people/owners & or managers!!!!!

If you are looking for modern then go to the Hilton but this hotel is a 19th century building so it’s dated but it’s clean, warm and comfortable and the staff are great. We visited because we are doing a trip of NZ classic pubs. Has sky TV, off road parking, dinner

The place is very old and dated and a fresh link of paint wouldn't go a miß. Room was dirty, toilet still was full of poop, dead flies on bathroom floor, top bunk had rubbish and dead bugs and to top it off fleas in the bed. The room had clean towels every day which smelt strongly like cigarette smoke. After 3 days of staying here I'm now covered in flea bites. We won't be back.
