Hotels near Kanisa la Pinda in Dar es salaam

I spent one night in the Chelsea Hotel to do some sightseeing in Dar and it was very good for that purpose. The hotel was a little bit dated, but otherwise completely up to the standards which I expect from a hotel. It's located not far from the clock tower, which to my understanding pinpoints the centerpoint of the city. The actual sights I went to see started further away, about 20 minutes by foot. The room was adequate in size and had good aircon. I had a twin room. I first tried sleeping in the bed further away from the aircon, but the air blew directly there, so I had to move to the bed right under the aircon unit. The hotel was located close to a busy road and the honking of the cars could be heard up to the sixth floor. However it wasn't bad. The breakfast was ok. It didn't have a very wide selection, but the items I tried were tasty and of good quality. Also the setting in the restaurant was pleasant. The only negative I have to say is the extraorbitant exchange rate. I had paid my room rate in advance, but I had to pay the city tax (1.50 USD) at the hotel. I asked to pay in Tsh and had to pay 7000 Tsh, equivalent to about 3$. My loss was only 1.50$, so it wasn't a big deal in my case, but the principle left a bad taste in my mouth. If the room rate would have been 1.50$ higher but the city tax 3500 Tsh, I would have left as a happy customer. The hotel offered airport transfer for 42000 Tsh. It was quite pricy. The fixed price at the official taxi stand at the airport was 30000 Tsh. On the way back to the airport I used a rideshare app to get my transfer, it cost Tsh 12000.

The staff were very pleasant, helpful and always doing their best to make the guests comfortable. The rooms were very cozy and clean, with working TV, mini fridge and aircon. The toilets were very clean and sanitized and towels also smelled like they have been washed well. I liked that the hotel was in the middle of the city with close access to a variety of important places, restaurants and shopping. What i didn't like though was that there was a lot of noise around my room as cleaning staff were busy cleaning other rooms and making lots of noises and banging doors. Also i was in a non smoking room and i could smell smoke coming from other rooms. I asked for reception to change my room, which they did.

The location is very good, a five-minute drive from the ferry port of Zanzibar Island. There is a Chinese restaurant downstairs, which tastes good and the price is moderate.

The cleanliness of the room is okay, but it is a bit remote, and the service attitude is quite good. The environment here is also quite good. There is wireless, you can take a shower, and there is free breakfast.

Good location, 15 minutes walk from the beach, even in CBD, the service staff are very warm and polite, the breakfast is very good, the 360-degree restaurant on the top floor is still a bit poor from other introductions, the overall hardware is similar to the domestic express hotel, After the first day I entered the door, I suspected that I was wrong. The small lobby, the front desk of a service staff, and the domestic holiday are not comparable. There are many hotels around, and I only know that the other is not as good as this (there is a five-star next to it, the price is doubled).

It was a very insightfull and rich experience with lot of nice smiles all around. The room is clean and fresh all the time and all accessoires are available all the time. Everything was positif during the stay. Big big thanks to all !

There is a big gym next to it, and there are many people working out, but there are always construction noises outside the two days I live, I ca n’t stand two bowls

The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were very careful. It was very clean and very clean. Good location, near the beach and it is rather easy to reach the port to take the boats for Zanzibar. Good quality/price ratio.

We stayed here after an overland tour and couldn’t have been more impressed with service and kindness. The Hotel is ideally located in downtown Dar. The room was ideal with a good shower and air conditioning. The included breakfast was also excellent with friendly staff and great choice of local foods. We had a late flight change and were offered a late check out and an easy reorganisation of our airport transfer. We recommend this Hotel and after visiting over 100 countries feel it is up there with the best.
