Let me start of by saying this is a Hostel. The rates are according to hostel standard. If you expect a five star hotel you have to wake up and not search for rates in the hostel prize range. That being said, this place is amazing! I love it here. I booked two nights, but extended my stay to eight nights in a lodge with private bathroom. Really charming cabin without AC, but a fan did a nice job cooling me during the nights. The property is very safe with excellent security, guarded entrance with port and a surrounding fence. The reception area is and really feels like a paradise island relax lounge. The food and service is fabulous and brought to you by a dedicated, polite and professional staff. In this place you will feel welcome from the moment you arrive until you leave with tears in your eyes. It is absolutely heartwarming. It’s like you become a family member and is treated in that way. I give my highest possible recommendation and will for sure com back again. Thank you, all the wonderful staff at Mikadi Beach Camp! You are all great ambassadors for Tanzanias warm and friendly culture.

Mikadi Beach Camp & Backpackers has a lot to offer, for it’s very affordable and simple setup it is every shilling worth. Very friendly staff, great location, nice food. But, you should bring your own mosquito net to use in addition to the one provided. In addition you shouldn’t bring any foodstuff no matter how concealed - the rats/mice will find it and eat it. 4/5 will definitely come back, great for young travelers!

My girlfriend and I recently visited Mikadi Beach Camp in Dar Es Salaam, and it turned out to be an cool experience. The first thing that struck us was the vibrant and upbeat atmosphere at Mikadi Beach Camp. The entire place exuded positive vibes, and we instantly felt relaxed and welcomed. The bar at Mikadi Beach Camp was a definite highlight. We savored our drinks

Best beach for a laid-back afternoon close to town. If you prefer quiet, better book weekdays. I stayed on a weekday, it was nice laidback and... quiet. These guys are pulling off a good kitchen I totally recommend the fish fingers and the nacho cheese/guagamole. Falling asleep with Ocean waves in the background is much better than many places downtown and there are not so many things that can beat waking up with sun rays tickling on your face and seeing the ocean first thing. This place is getting better every time I come back. What it has always been: the perfect spot to unwind if you need s hort break just before yiou take off to Zanzibar...

The location is beautiful, and the lounge and beach area is a superb place to chill at daytime. However, at night, a lot of people from outside come to drink and party. It's nice if you're up for it, but if you want to rest, it's a bit annoying. Rooms are ok and have mosquito nets, but there is a big problem with rats. There are rats all over the place, and the rooms can't keep them out. They ate through our bags and even through a pocket in a shorts. The management is nice and handled our complaints well. It's very easy to get to Dar city centre with the ferry only a couple kilometres away. Also a lot of local food available just 500m from the place if you don't want to spend a lot of money on food there.

By taxi then ferry then bajaji I arrived at the camp. It was packed solid with day visitors and I thought OH No I've made a dreadful mistake!! Then I realised it was Boxing Day so everyone was out with their families to celebrate. The following days the camp returned to its normal amount of guests which were few. The Banda (room on stilts) was small with just a bed and fan but comfortable. Shared showers/toilets were clean and I never had to wait. Every day the staff were cleaning to dust of the sand. I enjoyed the small swimming pool all to myself each morning before breakfast which was simple but adequate - you could pay more for extras. The beach had litter on it but then the sea was mostly clean. You have to walk a long way out for it to be deep enough to swim. Food was available at average prices - it's cooked fresh so expect to wait - but its worth it - I especially enjoyed the fish samosas. I'm not much of a drinker but the bar seemed well stocked and basic coffee with milk very very cheap. Staff very friendly and helpful and understand English. Many people were also camping. Its noisy at night from nearby bars but then its mainly for younger folk (I am young at heart although almost 70). Not much to do outside the camp. I left feeling very refreshed and ready again for work.

I was a little scared by the reviews but after booking 2 nights we extended for a week. I liked it a lot because it is a simple and not crowded place. Well supervised. The bungalow (banda?) right on the sea, small, very easy, certainly lacked maintenance but it is a campsite where you adapt. Unfortunately there was often no water but the shared bathrooms of the campsite were always available and there was water there. Every day I saw the beach and the common areas cleaned (where users and people on the beach left everything). Even the common bathrooms were always clean. Every day they changed the sheets and the girls cleaned the room and sprayed mosquito spray. Now, mosquitoes are a big problem that prevented you from being outside in the evening. I liked the constant music of the structure next to me but I understand that it can bother some people. I did not see the mice that some people talk about and I had biscuits in the room (I had not read the reviews about it). On the other hand, every now and then a nice group of monkeys would arrive 😊 We often had dinner in the structure and I must say that everything was excellent. I found the staff adorable, starting with Gloria, the girl at the reception. The varied clientele, beers, etc etc I won't go into details....but no one bothered, on the contrary, I met nice people. I wasn't interested and no one bothered me. The sea was beautiful, with accentuated tides. Shoes were necessary because there were a lot of broken bottles in the water.... In the morning it was great, in the afternoon the beach filled up. The surroundings are a bit...unsafe in the evening. But even during the day there are "nice" characters around. I certainly don't recommend this place to single women. I would go back immediately because I found it a relaxing place but I think it's not for everyone. It takes a bit of spirit of adaptation and certainly a bit of attention to the surroundings

100% recommended!! Delicious food, especially the breakfast, friendly & helpful staff, pretty & functional bandas that made me feel comfortable for weeks! Perfect starting point for trips into the city due to its proximity to the harbor. At the weekend the neighbors get a little louder, which didn't bother me too much, but it can definitely keep you awake. The beach is fantastic and occasionally clean too! Special thanks to Boss Jessi and Barman Rama for making this stay so special! Hope to see you soon 😊
