Capistrano SurfSide Inn

Pros: -location right across from the beach -price -clean Cons: -check in experience with very nice but elderly gentleman who processed things very slowly and manually -checked in at 11pm and asked to be pointed to where the gym was as I planned to lift weights for 30 minutes, was told the gym is closed and I can only use it 7am to 11pm. One of reasons we chose this place is because it had a gym, gyms are open by default 24hrs so it never crossed my mind to confirm hours. When he said I couldn't use it I went to check where it and the gym is not in a place where it can be heard by guest rooms, especially one person for 30 minutes. There was also a sign on the door saying to sign out a key from the front desk to use the gym, never have had your regular room key not be usable for a gym. This was super frustrating to not be able to use it after traveling all day, I also had left my friend out in town and upgraded to a 2 bedroom partly so I could come back earlier and use the gym while she was still grabbing a drink. I ended up driving around town for 40 min to find another hotel that would let me use their gym. Meanwhile the guy at check in said I could email the manager about the gym....I did that night....no word back 3 days later. Oh and he also told me "you need your rest" when I was pushing back about using the gym. He also six he could let me in at 6am (and hour before the scheduled opening time which he said was 7 despite door saying 6)....so why couldn't he make except and let me for 30 min right after it closed? He said he'd lose his job if he let me in at 11pm -we signed waivers on Saturday and took 2 bikes out midday, returned them at 10pm and were greeted with "did you read the waiver you signed"....I mean not really, usually waivers just say they're not liable for damage or injury and if there's anything else the staff usually says "please note xyz". Turns out the thing we signed said rentals are for maximum of 3 hours -- not sure why the woman who had us sign waiver didn't mention that. --our tv didnt work that night and by that time it was past 11pm when we realized and I knew the man behind the counter wouldn't be able to help so waited till morning to ask -no trash in one of the bathrooms or bedrooms so the person in the king size bedroom with bathroom attached has to walk any trash out the kitchen -sheets were very Low quality or old....lot of pilling -heat didn't seem to reach the bigger bedroom very well -odd sign about temperature (see pic), you'd think in the summer people might want to have it at 69 at night and hard to believe that would make things frozen -no toaster in room -2nd day now knowing the bike rules I asked if I could keep it for 3.5 hrs instead of 3 before I left, because that would enable me to not take an uber and attend the tournament we were there for ....it was a hard no....they had 6 bikes that were there and I was asking to use 1 for 30 Min extra....after asking a couple more times and complaining th

We could see the surf from our 3rd floor ocean side room We visited Jan of 2025 and it was cool. We went to the beach anyway as soon as the sun came out. My happy place! The game room was a hit with my granddaughter. The bikes and beachchairs, umbrellas and sand toys for use is such a wonderful amenity

We came back to celebrate our 10th anniversary, since we spent our honeymoon here. It's still lovely in a still-lovely location and it's within our budget. If you're looking for top-of-the-line luxury, Surfside Inn may not be your best choice. But for a relatively affordable option which is clean, very comfortable and with wonderful views, this may be your place. We loved coming back here.

Having a balcony across the beach gave me an incredible view. The resort is very well kept and the staff was fantastic. The room seemed a little small, the couch was not very comfortable but again, the view was AMAZING!!

Great location, clean, value for money, helpful and pleasant staff. Ali night reception staff was amazing, went out of his way to help. No restaurant on site but plenty of choice around. Asked for quiet room which means doesnt have a sea view, but it was very quiet and pleasant even without the view.
