"The room was clean and tidy, with the air conditioning and water heater working properly. A kettle was also provided. The hosts were very welcoming. The room has its own kitchen and dining room, and you can request a kitchen to cook for you. The price was reasonable. It was quiet. The only downside was that it's off the main road; you have to walk over a 100-meter path. If you don't hire a car, it can be a bit dark when you return from your trip at night."
"The heritage Kandalama Hotel is in the heart of the Gungal near a lake. The hotel was designed with consideration and respect for the environment, the animals that live there and the nature that surrounds the hotel.
The room is cozy and well-equipped and includes a balcony overlooking the jungle. The infinity pool overlooks a lake where elephants and birds stay. We received a pleasant welcome from the hotel staff. The dining room is immersed in green and the breakfast is great. We received excellent service and personal attention from the entire staff at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel without luggage and they made sure to coordinate the arrival of the luggage for us.
We liked Nalinda the kind guide from the hotel who took us on a morning tour and since then we became friends. Nalinda took care of our well-being even after we left the hotel. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay. Definitely recommended for those who want to rest and relax in a dreamy place."
"The room is so big and amazing. It's a luxurious experience at a price of more than 800. The scenery in the courtyard is beautiful and you don't want to leave. The courtyard is very large. You need a shuttle bus to go to and from the restaurant. The car was sent quickly after calling. I really should stay a few more days. I have recommended it"

"The environment is great, a large mango garden, the hotel only occupies a small area in the middle, walk in the early morning and evening in the middle of the green grass, monkeys running around the hotel, or relax on a deck chair in the room with a balcony at night Drinking a clear spring. The dinner buffet is very rich, and the meals at noon are also very good. The swimming pool is downstairs, enjoying the food while overlooking the greenery, mango trees, coconut trees and the swimming pool, it is really enjoyable. Hotel service staff The service is also very professional."
"This hotel has good facilities, like good pool bar, restaurant with a tropical resort feeling.
We have room with 2 king beds and it is good enough width for 2 adults and 2 kids. and also keeping sanitary.
Staff gave the good hospitality and providing good services in restaurant.
Just one concerning is VISA card cannot work well in Dambulla area."
"It was good time we spent at the hotel, beautiful big room with view on the pool. The owner is very kind and helped us, he drove and dropped off us at the bus station when we left the hotel. At the hotel there are bicycles which possible to use for the guests and we had a good trip to Dambulla Golden Temple on them. The hotel is near bus station and big fruit market. All was perfect!"

Outstanding
NNhanWe got very nice experience when staying here 1 night. The room was perfect for our family of 3. We just had to pay for the 3rd person's breakfast.
The Logde located nearby the Lion rock and village, easy to find and go to the rock or the Gambulla city within 10min.
The host Isuru was very welcoming from the start and made sure that we had all that we needed. ( hot water, drinking water, towels, AC, fan). We also really appreciated Mr Alain, a french gentleman resident in the sameplace! The room also had all the necessary for us to not be bitten by insects (scents and more). There was also a room for the driver at a very resonnable price. However we found the wifi a little weak, but else everything was good.
In the surroundings it is peaceful, and we woke up to nice little sound of the nature and a well prepared typical srilankan breakfast and fruits! Delicious!
FFrancisco Gonzalez ManzanoJust a short walk from the bus stop, this gem of a guesthouse is hands down the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, always offering help and thoughtful advice. He even arranged for a local tuk-tuk driver at a very reasonable price, ensuring I had the best experience exploring the area. Every afternoon, he would check in and offer a delightful cup of tea, making the stay feel extra special.
His wife’s cooking is an absolute highlight—breakfast was not just delicious but prepared with so much care, adding a homely touch to every meal. The room itself was super clean, big, and incredibly comfortable. From start to finish, they both made me feel completely at home. I can say this was the best accommodation I experienced during my time in Sri Lanka, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable and comfortable stay.
AArabinOne of the best hotels I lived in Sri Lanka, running by a local family. They are very nice and hospitable and even provided very delicious local breakfast with wild honey and welcome coconut water. The room was a quite big with high ceiling, clean and all the stuffs were available. The hotel is in the closest location to climb the rock mountain called Pidurangala to view panorama view of Sigiri and sunrise and sunset and very close to Sigiri Lion Rock as well. The hotel can provide car and jeep services. Jeep safari to see a herd and other wild animals were quite an experience to feel the wilderness and nature. This hotel is 100% recommended when you are in Sigiriya.
If you need a car service for city to city travel, here is the service provider, called Danu and his contact number is (0774) 642 805. He is a nice and humble guy with certified local guide. We got his service from Sigiriya to Kandy to Yalla to Colombo, the trip went very smooth and we are happy that we covered all the attractions places with his assistance. Highly recommended!!
GGuest UserFacilities: Complete facilities, with its own private small swimming pool and massage
Hygiene: Overall it is quite clean
Environment: Very primitive, with peacocks in the yard
Service: Very good service, the waiter helped with the luggage. Breakfast can be booked in advance, you can try the local Sri Lankan breakfast
MMark RizzutoOur least popular hotel stay in Sri Lanka. We checked in for 4 nights and needed to ask for a room change the following day given the toilet smelt and slowly kept flooding the bathroom floor. That problem clearly pre-existed, but given most people only stay a night, It wasn't something that was high on the hotels priority list to address. The coaches come and go carrying 55-70 year old Europeans and Chinese, and they only stay a night. The level of service at this hotel wasn't a great experience, with reception needing management attention. There were exceptions (pool guy and luggage porter were both lovely).
The most frustrating thing about this hotel is that they should be rocking it. It's a great location, nice pool and a good setting, but that's where it stops. The rooms and restaurant are physically tired. Food was pretty average bordering poor despite being plentiful in choice. They had live music playing at night, which was so 'live' that it sent us to sleep early two nights in a row. Great idea, terrible execution, and that is pretty much how we would sum up the place.
It's no surprise that the hero promotional shot used by the hotel to market it's hotel is the photo of the view from the swimming póol to Lions Rock. Sadly, that's the only hero experience to be found at this hotel.
XXIANDONGGarden-style hotel, with beautiful scenery and large rooms. There is also a welcome ceremony when arriving at the hotel. There are not many people staying at the hotel. The most funny thing is that from the lobby to the room, the bottle car cannot pass the path smoothly. At that time, the design was not thoughtful. The overall feeling is that this hotel is a relatively high-end hotel in the local area, which is good in all aspects, but remember to give a little more tip, otherwise you can just shake your face and show it to you
GGuest UserRecommended, the location is very good, opposite the Lion Rock, and there are many food and drink options next to the hotel. The lobby decoration is very distinctive, and the room is not big but comfortable and clean. There are not many types of breakfast, but it is a pleasure to sit in the beautiful lobby to eat. And the price matches!
RRobert MarkThe staff were superb! They couldn't do enough to make our stay a memorable one.
The room was clean with plenty of space. Air conditioned and comfortable beds.
Breakfast was really good: fruit, roti, coconut pancakes, eggs how you want them, fruit juice, other bits too. Our table was hardly big enough to hold it all.
An excellent location to visit Lion Rock and several restaurants and bars within walking distance serving local and western options.
GGuest UserMango juice was served as soon as I entered the door. The Lion Rock is right opposite the door, with a great view. It is also very large, like a resort in the forest. The service is very good and enthusiastic.
The overall facilities of this hotel are relatively old, and there is not a single charging port in the whole room. Later, I could only unplug my phone to charge it. The king-size bed room is made up of two single beds, which is very magical.
The breakfast is good, recommended. There are also people performing in the bar/restaurant in the evening, and the atmosphere is very good
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a forest, composed of beautiful two-story buildings of 6-7, each with 4 rooms. The hotel has a large yard, large lawn and swimming pool are very beautiful. The room facilities are quite satisfactory and there is no special place. The service is very good, warm and thoughtful, and the welcome drink is delicious. Breakfast is not a buffet, the variety is relatively simple, there are toast, eggs, fruit platters, juice and milk. The room is not soundproofed. If the two adjacent rooms are strangers, they may affect each other. There are many monkeys on the tree in the yard. The monkeys will play on the roof and make a lot of noise. This is an advantage or a disadvantage. Everyone has different evaluations. In short, it is a good hotel, whether it is an excessive or a leisure holiday, it is a good choice.
