Dalian Zhongshan District Hotels

Unable to secure a twin room at the Four Seasons, and with our elderly family members specifically requiring separate beds, we instead booked Fraser Suites' largest three-bedroom apartment. We were assigned to the 21st floor (out of 25, a minor disappointment as it wasn't one of the top two floors). The apartment featured an L-shaped layout, which felt a bit unusual. The master bedroom had a king bed, while the other two bedrooms had a queen bed and two single beds, respectively. Without floor-to-ceiling windows, the visual impression of space felt a little constricted. The layout of the living and dining areas wasn't ideal and could benefit from an upgrade or rearrangement. The open-plan kitchen was tastefully designed, and both a washing machine and dryer were conveniently located next to the fridge. However, the range hood's ventilation wasn't very effective. The use of Villeroy & Boch and Hansgrohe for bathroom fixtures suggests a relatively high investment in the property's hardware. We had requested mouthwash and a variety of pillows during booking, and thankfully, these requests were eventually met, partly due to the booking platform's coordination. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, offering a perfect balance of softness and support – a truly unexpected highlight. The swimming pool was the most satisfying feature. The water temperature was a bit on the cool side, and while its length was acceptable, it was rather narrow. The depth, ranging from 0.9m to 1.5m, was fine, though I did graze my toe on the pool floor in the shallowest section. The changing rooms were excellent, complete with hot and cold plunge pools and both wet and dry saunas. Plus, they had Dyson hairdryers, which were far superior to the ones in the apartment. **Points for improvement:** 1. The toothpaste provided was Meijianjing, which seemed out of place for a hotel of this caliber. 2. After checking in, we discovered there was only one hairdryer for three bedrooms. Furthermore, it was one of those models that require you to continuously hold down the handle to operate – a type I'd never encountered before. After calling room service, they simply provided another identical, awkward hairdryer. Why not the Dyson ones found in the gym changing rooms? 3. The toilet paper was incredibly thin and rather rough. For a property of this standard, one would expect at least Kleenex-quality tissue. 4. The living room television was too small and had poor picture quality; it definitely needs an upgrade. 5. There weren't enough waste bins, and their placement was inconvenient. 6. Out of the three bathrooms, only the master bathroom featured a non-standalone bathtub, which was awkwardly placed inside the shower cubicle, making it very inconvenient to use. What's more, there was a small, completely empty room right next to it with no facilities at all. 7. The wardrobe hangers were not suitable for delicate clothing, as there were no padded or silk hangers provided. Overall, while it offers excellent value for money, it doesn't quite qualify as a luxury hotel apartment, falling more into the category of an entry-level five-star property like a Shangri-La or Hilton.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and overall had a pleasant experience. The highlight was definitely the fantastic sea view from the room – waking up to that every morning was a real treat. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the upkeep during my stay. Just below the hotel, there’s a convenient BBQ restaurant and a seafood restaurant, both of which were enjoyable. There are also plenty of other dining options within walking distance, which made meal times easy and enjoyable. However, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. The breakfast spread was exactly the same every day, which got a bit repetitive over a four-day stay. A little variety would have made mornings more enjoyable. Also, the laundry facilities were located in a separate block, which was a bit inconvenient. It would be much better if they were in the same building as the rooms. Overall, a good stay with a stunning view and clean accommodations, but there’s room for improvement in amenities and breakfast variety.

The hotel clearly had a nice renovation at some point, and the rooms are very spacious. The sofa was a comfortable spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. A heated towel rail in the bathroom was a thoughtful touch, making it easy to dry clothes during our trip. However, the hotel itself feels quite dated. The lighting was dim, the air conditioning had an unpleasant odor, and the curtains were torn. On a positive note, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful. We had originally booked a twin room, but upon arrival, we found its window faced a wall of noisy air conditioning units from the adjacent building. When we informed the front desk, they were very accommodating; they came up to our floor and switched us to a king room without us having to go downstairs. Breakfast was also quite good. The hotel's location is superb, with many restaurants nearby, and it's within walking distance of Zhongshan Square. Taxis to any destination were also reasonably priced.

Overall a good place with a bright design. Location is about 20-25 minutes walking from the train station or 15 minutes from the metro station with a direct link to the airport. It is foreigner friendly, since the friendly staff knows some English or tries to communicate via online translator. The bed was very comfortable, Aircon worked for cooling, WiFi was fast. Two minor flaws: drainage in the shower didn't work well and there was some weird smell in the room when I arrived, but nothing too serious. The breakfast is not a buffet. You'll be served a tray with some food as shown on photo. If you like chicken feet and a prawn in rice porridge for breakfast, you'll love it :) On the flip side, they push you hard to leave them a 5* review when you check out. They even have a special manual for that in several languages. This spoils the overall good impression. In any case, I can recommend this place.

An absolutely perfect stay. The InterContinental Dalian boasts luxurious, elegant, and grand facilities. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and inviting, offering breathtaking views of the East Port shipyard and the ocean. Its prime downtown location provides incredibly convenient access to subway and bus lines, and taxi rides around the city are also very affordable. It's just a short walk to the historic century-old buildings around Zhongshan Square. Check-in was a breeze, and the service was attentive and incredibly warm. A special thank you to DANA at the front desk for her excellent service. I also appreciate the doormen who always helped me with my bags from the taxi. Finally, kudos to the F&B department for the thoughtful gesture of delivering red date and pear soup to my room in the evening, which was a perfect way to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring. Dalian truly is a fantastic city!

Highly Recommended (Genuine review, written while waiting for my flight). 1. It's affordable, and the soundproofing is decent. 2. The location is absolutely fantastic – just 10 meters straight out of the subway exit! About 100 meters away is a Dalian Supermarket, which I highly recommend for a casual browse; it's incredibly convenient for picking up fresh milk, popular local smoked meat patties, chicken frame noodles, and more. Wuxian Xia Xiang (a restaurant) is also a delicious recommendation, only 300 meters away. Plus, there are three or four shopping malls within 500 meters, all easily reachable on foot. 3. The room comes with a mini-fridge, perfect for keeping drinks cold. The staff member was incredibly kind; when I mentioned I needed more water to take out, she generously gave me 6 bottles right away! The only minor drawback is that the laundry room is quite cramped (though you can ignore this if you don't plan on using it). 4. Dalian's weather is truly unbeatable – I really don't want to leave!

📍 Location, location, location This hotel is in a prime spot, about 3 miles from some of Dalian’s top attractions like Xinghai Square, Venice Water City, and Dalian Castle 🏰. Super convenient whether you’re sightseeing or just exploring the city. 😴 Best sleep I’ve had in ages Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I slept so well. I got almost 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep, the room was quiet, perfectly cool, and the blackout curtains made the room completely dark, which I loved. Also, they offer an a la carte menu and even late-night service, which is super handy if you’re up late or get in hungry. 🧖♂️ Highly recommend the sauna + massage combo One of the highlights of my stay: hit the sauna for about 20 minutes, then followed it up with a relaxing massage right there in the hotel. Total game changer 💯 I left feeling completely recharged. 🏊♂️ as for the pool, I tried to go around three times… but it seems that the hotel rent it to swimming classes for kids?? So it was always full of kids which it’s fine but consider it if as myself this amenity was crucial for me to book the hotel 🍳 Breakfast could be better This is where things fell a bit short. The breakfast area is… kind of random? It’s in a hallway on the second floor, and the setup felt temporary. Not much variety, and there are no small tables, just big shared ones for about 10 people. A little awkward if you’re alone or just want a quiet breakfast. (I’ll include a pic) 📦 Heads-up on delivery If you order food delivery, you’ll need to go downstairs to pick it up yourself — they don’t bring it up to your room. ✅ Final thoughts Aside from those couple of things and the pool, my experience was honestly fantastic. Great location, super restful sleep. Would stay here again if I’m back in Dalian! 👍

The front desk service is efficient and friendly, the check-in process is smooth, and they will proactively introduce the hotel facilities and surrounding travel guides. They can also coordinate rooms according to needs and even provide room upgrades during the off-season. They are particularly considerate of special groups such as the elderly and will thoughtfully prepare earplugs and remind guests to use anti-slip clothing.

The location is very convenient and within walking distance of many tourist attractions and food streets. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We got a free plate of fruits on our first day, and when we checked out, we were given a little goodie bag full of snacks. The water pressure of the shower head is heavenly. It's the best shower head I have ever used in my entire life. It's amazing!!!!

After a long journey, I was seeking a peaceful retreat, and I unexpectedly stumbled upon this lodging – what a delightful surprise! This stay truly felt like a dream come true. The decor was understated yet elegant, and the courtyard offered a wonderfully serene and quiet escape. The soft, ambient lighting created a tranquil atmosphere. From the moment I arrived, I felt an immediate sense of comfort and peace, as if a gentle warmth permeated my being. A subtle, pleasant fragrance wafted through the air, and the absolute silence felt dream-like. The bed was incredibly soft, like sleeping on a cloud, and the duvet was wonderfully light. I drifted off to sleep almost instantly and enjoyed a deep, undisturbed rest until the early hours. There were no barking dogs or harsh lights to interrupt my slumber. I had a profoundly peaceful night, waking up completely refreshed, as if transported to another realm of tranquility. The room was meticulously tidy, with everything neatly arranged. I noticed the pristine white sink and the calm, still water, reflecting a sense of peace. The amenities provided were exceptional: fragrant, high-quality soap, incredibly soft towels, and good toothbrushes and bath products that truly lived up to their promise, not just generic items. The room was absolutely spotless, sparkling clean in every corner. Using the facilities felt incredibly refreshing, like washing with pure mountain spring water and rinsing with sweet dew. All the day's dust and fatigue simply melted away, leaving me completely rejuvenated. Outside the window, there was a gentle hum of street life, hinting at a bustling area nearby. Just a few steps downstairs, I found an incredible array of street food stalls. The air was filled with delicious aromas from charcoal grills, and the food was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. From golden fried pancakes resembling sunsets to glistening candied haw, and perfectly grilled squid with a delightful sweet and spicy kick, it was a true culinary treat. Even as night fell, the area remained lively with many people enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. I also loved the convenience of public transportation right on the doorstep, offering easy access to explore widely, whether I wanted to visit distant attractions or simply head to the seaside. This proximity to transport truly made exploring the city effortless. What truly stood out was the exceptional staff, especially the front desk personnel. They were incredibly welcoming and warm, always ready with a gentle smile and a helpful word. My questions were answered quickly and efficiently, and they made me feel so genuinely cared for, as if we were old friends. Their kindness and genuine hospitality truly made this place feel like home. The room was well-equipped with modern amenities. The air conditioning was effective and easy to use, and there were plenty of TV channels to choose from. I appreciated the pleasant wall art and the convenient bedside lamp. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, allowing me to browse the web effortlessly without any lag. But what truly amazed me was the price – this place offers incredible value for money, something truly rare to find in the city. For a similar price, it would be hard to find another place that combines such refinement with peaceful comfort. It’s not flashy, but it’s tastefully done and genuinely peaceful. I honestly wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself; a single night here felt like a dream. I had initially planned only a short stay, but by the time I left, I felt a deep reluctance to depart. Even after I was gone, my thoughts kept returning to this wonderful place, and I found myself dreaming of that comfortable bed. If anyone asks me where this hidden gem is, I'd almost be hesitant to share, lest I disturb its serene magic. Suffice it to say, it felt like a bed among the clouds, offering a night that truly transcended the ordinary. The final photos capture Dalian's 'Venice of the East' (Water City), which is just one example of the beautiful scenery in the area. To sum it all up: beautiful surroundings, pleasant weather, delicious and diverse local cuisine with unique flavors, and truly exceptional service. I'd particularly like to commend 'Xiao Wang' for their outstanding attitude and helpfulness. I've written so much because this place truly deserves all the praise. I highly recommend staying here!
