The hotel is located in a large manor, a separate building, very quiet, the surrounding scenery is also beautiful, the interior decoration is antique, more historical, very in line with our needs and expectations.

Great location. Great concept. Friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable bed. First time at Thistle. My room was personalised with a welcome message on my TV on arrival. Breakfast was good too. Will book again.

My line manager had booked the room for me as my IHG account wasn’t approved yet by my GM and I was greeted by Zahr if I spelt that right, I do apologise if I’ve spelt that wrong, he was very friendly, he did his job by trying to figure out if I was an employee of holiday inn, which he did his checks and my information had come back correct, I left earlier that night and come back and I was still greeted with a friendly welcome from him. It’s been a pleasure to stay with the holiday inn, my room was cleaned to perfection and I’ve had no issues, Zahr deserves to be employee of the month if that’s a thing here. We stayed as part of the Harry Potter Studio Tour deal. It’s fantastic value! Parking is included in the package. Two adults and two children in one room. A double bed and a sofa bed (a bit springy but doable for one night). The hotel staff were really friendly. We booked to use the pool which was great. Breakfast was really fresh, plenty of options to choose from and well organised. We opted to go for dinner at The Plough which is a few minutes drive away and would also recommend eating there. A really good trip ☺️

I had the misfortune to use this B&B some weeks ago, except that, I am not quite sure you can even call it a B&B. Instead, it is simply a chap, looking to make some extra money on his big house – whilst still wanting to retain the benefits that come with not opening your house to strangers, and paying ones at that. So, here is my warning to anyone interested in renting a room in Leafy Suburban Bed & Breakfast (LSBB). It is in effect a sort of scam that is misleading, and here is why. Do NOT even try and rent this property if… You like B&Bs that are fully transparent in their advertising and you get what you paid for courtesy of your hard earned money You (and anyone that comes with you) do not want to suffer the indignity and embarrassment of having to take off your shoes upon entry (stuff a private owner may demand of you but, a place, intended for public rental changing you also?). I wonder why this is not stated in the his glitzy ads? Because he knows, if he did, nobody would even look at his so-called B&B You want a bit of privacy when using the bathroom/toilet. LSBB advertises its nice looking bathroom/toilet on accommodation seeking websites. What they do not tell you is that, you’ll be sharing with several other tenants. In short, you will need to be dressed appropriately and have to peep out into the corridor each time you wish to use it, to ensure nobody else is using it You like to get what you pay for and get the little things that typically come with a B&B (such as cups or glasses perhaps, coffee making facilities perhaps, etc.). You do not get anything with LSBB – just a small room and nowt else! You want to be close to civilisation such as public transport and some shops maybe. This place is in the middle of nowhere and to even find the place, you had better have a degree in place finding. There are no signs on the long and badly lit road it is on. The lovely looking and spacious kitchen and garden (advertised) are nice, no doubt. However, they are largely for show. During my unfortunate stay there, at NO point was I invited to use either, and although I did not use the kitchen, I have since read on here that, its more one of, it’s all DIY (Do-it-Yourself) in this poor excuse for a B&B. Do not use this property also, if you want to be able to talk (at normal sound levels) in your room whether on the phone or to your companion. We were asked to keep our voice down, which I thought was rather rude. The prices he charges are even MORE than many quality hotels that offer 10 times better service. For one search, he was charging £64 a night whilst many hotels were either the same or less. In short, this is an owner wanting to have his cake and eat it. Someone wanting the best of both worlds. Charge the peasants to have a room in his sumptuous house and keep their money whilst, on the other hand, wanting all the benefits of a private house owner with NO visiting strangers. This hotel is right next to Watford Junction station - an easy walk round the corner. (Check on google maps and take the short cut rather than walk along main road). The hotel seems clean and modern. It is obviously very popular with people visiting WB studios (which is what we were doing). Stayed in a family room set up for 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 4). The beds for the children are the usual budget hotel foldaway types and not very sturdy but fine for one night. The room was generally clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good with a moderate selection (not as wide a selection as Premier Inn but fine for fueling up before heading off to WB). The WB shuttle bus goes from outside the station so a 3 min walk back to the bus stop. Overall a perfectly adequate and well located budget option for WB stay. We came on the train from across London. If we had come in the car I would have chosen something outside of the town centre. If you are travelling with kids and hoping to eat out in the evening after you get here (which we didn't) then you've got a bit of a walk back to the main part of town with the shopping centre and chain restaurants. The only annoying thing about the stay was the noise at night - and it had nothing to do with the railway! We were woken up by talking and doors banging in the corridor a couple of times. Whether or not it was because our room had a connecting door to another room I don't know but someone's alarm went off at 4.45am and it sounded like it was in our room. Whichever poor person had such an early start on a Friday then proceeded to get showered and dressed in a rather loud fashion and felt the need to constantly talk loudly to the rest of the people in that room. That's not the hotel's fault of course but bear in mind this is a budget hotel and the sound proofing is minimal.

The Comet hotel Hatfield Location : excellent , just cross opposite to mall Room : comfortable , clean , more room space Overall are Good except the service of receptionist . Receptionist service : the Indian lady attitude was bad , maybe we are Asian. Shouldn’t let guest feel not welcoming :( Last, We really enjoyed it . Recommended this hotel

I stayed here in august for 2 nights as I got tickets to Strictly at Elstree studios, very conveniently placed and rooms were clean. When the house keeping came into the rooms to clean they had moved my hairdryer (£120 GHD Hairdryer) which was no issue as the room was spotless, beds were made and fresh towels were given. I left my hairdryer at the hotel and once I realised I phoned up the next day. After much confusion due to the receptionist not speaking amazing English I got told they would speak to house keeping and I would get a phone call within an hour… 2 hours later I phoned the hotel and got told they hadn’t had the opportunity to speak to house keeping and got told again I would receive a phone call… again no phone call. I phoned back the next day and got told I would receive a phone call that day, after an hour I got a call to say the head of housekeeping wasn’t in over the bank holiday and they would phone me in a few days. On the Monday I received a phone call to say that my hairdryer was there and that I could organise a courier for collection or come and pick it up myself. On Thursday I drove the 50 miles each way to go and pick up my hair dryer only to be told once I arrived that it was a mistake and they in fact did not have it. I was told they tried to phone me to inform me of this, however I was able to quickly shoot down that lie after going through my phone records and revealing no missed calls or voicemails from the hotel. I asked to speak to the manager, after being told many times that all procedures had been followed (which they clearly had not as if they had I would have my hairdryer back) I was left without my £120 hairdryer and had also done a 100 mile round trip for no reason as a member of staff could not call me to relay this information. I was able to tell the staff which room I was in and exactly where this hair dryer had been left and still nothing. The manager took my phone number and email and I was told that I would get reimbursement for the cost of fuel, my time and some sort of compensation due to what had happened (manager suggested a complementary stay). I have now waited a week to hear from the manager and have had nothing from them, meaning not only have I been left without a £120 hairdryer due to either theft or someone not cleaning a room properly, but have also wasted 4 hours of my day driving round the M25 and waiting for them to find out what happened (with still no answers) and the fuel it has taken to drive the 100+ miles to get there. Overall, the customer service at this hotel is shocking, no one seemed to have an idea what is going on and the lack of communication between staff is atrocious. I am hoping the manager who made these promises to me will see this review and get in touch regarding the above.
