Guanna's Place Room and Resto Bar

I didn’t stay at Guanna’s however I will my next time in Malapascua! I was on the island for twenty days in April of 2022. Several times I enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the staff while eating at there restaurant. Cherique one of the managers, Saide the server and the cook Marvie along with the other staff members were above and beyond excellent! Always welcoming and very attentive as soon as I arrived. The food was sooo good. The homemade bread was terrific as well.
Cocobana Beach Resort

The people at Cocobanas were friendly. Stayed at Cocobana superior deluxe) and recommend it for its close proximity with heater and a/c. The clean the rooms daily. Only feedback was a little wait time, but then again you're at a local beach resort and they're not trained to the service standarss of 4-5star hoteliers that we're used to. So its OK for their standard. There is a 24h local breadshop about 7mins walk to market, located exactly where the market is. Its fresh bread and some cakes (limited range) that are very cheap. Had that for light breakfast being going for the thresher shark dives early in the morning. I find it good to eat something small before a dive rather than dive on an empty stomach. Please consider supporting the locals as the earn very little and here I find them honest and sincere. Supporting them means supporting their livelihoods and also their families. Please also considering tipping them generously if you are grateful for their services. Between dives I walked around to explore the village. I found a catholic church named Virgen de los Desamparados (8 min walk from TSD), where the locals believe in Mother Mary's intercession that helped to protect the locals during the 2013 typhoon. I asked a local about it and he shared that during the typhoon, even though there was damage to the homes and structures, not a single person died. How amazing! Safe stay to all travelling.

Positive: The room is good, the bed is very large and the mattress and pillows are very comfortable. The host was very attentive to our questions and requests and responded to everything quickly. We were very comfortable. Negative: The hotel reception is very abandoned and neglected, with a little bit of work, it could be fixed a lot. Apart from the rooms, there is nothing else (bar, restaurant) The area is VERY noisy. In addition to the usual cock crowing (24 hours a day) that abounds throughout the island, attached to the hotel there is a basketball court, where the games are broadcast over the public address system until late at night and next to it, a church, which in times Christmas delights you (once again over the public address system) with songs and praises, from 4 a.m. Still, nothing that can't be solved with some earplugs.
Malapascua Starlight Resort

The resort offers comfortable but small rooms back off the beach and right adjacent to the market where there are some decent meals to be had. There are a range of room options, including the queen bed option I had. This has a shower and reasonable sized bathroom, and a balcony. I had chosen the breakfast included option and this was fine. They even managed to cook it the morning after the typhoon. How ever, that was about all they managed after that even, despite their being little actual damage to the resort. Power had gone and rather than provide candles, nothing was given to allow us to see in rooms after dark. Neither were there any instructions given about what might need to be done during the storm. People moved in and left almost immediately because of the lack of action. The owner did refund 70% of the room rate for the storm-affected nights but it could so easily have been avoided with more thought. When one considers there were places better set up to cope for a fraction more, it made this resort one of the less attractive options. Solar panels had been installed by the time I left but were not working so it may get better.

The boss is enthusiastic and the location is in a small street in the back. Overall, I always say it is similar across the island. There is a power outage at least once a day, and then the water is used for washing and washing. Boss Sheng Zai and his wife are more enthusiastic. If you mind, you can go to Fish Brothers Hotel, they have power generation.
