We ate at the Factor's House earlier this year... I decided at that time to take my wife back there for her 50th birthday. We stayed 4 nights in the Urquhart room. It was absolutely fantastic, so spacious with the added special touches of homemade shortbread, homemade soap and a jar of sweeties... The location of Factor's House makes it an ideal base for touring around the Black Isle, and is only a short walk into Cromarty itself. We ate at Factor's House on our last night and Fiona served sea bass fillets (arguably the biggest and best I have ever eaten) along with a homemade chicken liver pate. All locally sourced produce. Must mention the lovely breakfast, so much choice and would definitely recommend the porridge and fresh berries. Fiona is lovely and goes out of her way to make sure your stay is nothing but perfect. We are going back February 2019.

We had a great stay at the Factor's House with Fiona! We had the ground floor room which was very comfortable indeed and enjoyed a meal cooked by her one evening. The breakfasts are of the highest quality and the house is very relaxing. The lounge is a great space for an evening drink. Cromarty is lovely and is well worth a second night to enjoy the lovely village and surroundings. We did spend two nights and it was well worthwhile.

Cromarty is a lovely village to stopover, with a great local pub with live music, a top notch bistro and the tiny car ferry over to Ngg, it’s perfect. Fiona’s B&B added to the whole experience, it is extremely well maintained, clean and well furnished. Fiona gave us lots of tips for our onward journey and the breakfast was good too.

My husband and I have had a perfect 3day break at The Factors House. Not only was the weather fabulous but so was our accommodation and hospitality. Fiona is a very welcoming hostess. Her bedrooms and en-suite are very comfortable and clean with lots of little surprises to be found in little pots and cloches- aka delicious homemade shortbread. Breakfast was superb, cooked to order so very hot and fresh. Our only regret was not booking dinner. Speaking to other guests and locals Fiona is a fab cook. So, next time…. Interesting shops and pub in the village and don’t forget the bakers!

A wonderful home-away-from-home experience in the Black Isle, assuming your home is warm, comfortable, perfectly appointed, and truly hospitable. If not, why not give it a try? It's not cheap, true, but worth every penny, and Cromarty is a great place to visit if you want to get away from it all.

This was, by far, the most luxurious accommodation that we stayed in on our recent trip to Scotland. It was pricier than the other B&B's we visited, but offered much more in extras. We stayed on the ground floor in the Forsyth Room. It was convenient and quite large with a very comfortable king sized bed. There was a large wardrobe to hold our clothes, a desk, and coffee/tea station in the corner that included a chocolate treat each day. Home made scottish shortbreads were left out each evening for us, and a bowl of fruit that included grapes, oranges and apples was set out on the desk. The bathroom was modern with a large step in shower and heated towel bar. A hair dryer was included. Towels are large; no washcloths. The wi-fi had a strong signal. We had a small view of the sea from the room. Two comfy chairs stood near the bay window with the view of the back lawn and sea in the distance. Breakfast included a hot meal that we chose the night prior. I opted for the banana bread french toast one morning, and the toasted bagel with tomato, avocado and feta cheese the next. This was in addition to yogurt, granola and fresh fruit, or porridge with fruit and honey. We certainly did not leave hungry. A large living room was available for evening relaxation and it included an honesty bar. The B&B hostess also offers an in house dinner for a fee, if one chooses to just relax and stay in house for the evening meal. There is a large parking lot just outside the house. The walk into town is relatively easy, so one can leave the car and enjoy a lovely dinner without having to worry about driving or finding a parking place in town.

This has to be one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed in, including many five star hotels. Fiona is an exceptional host, with great communication as part of the booking process, as well as all the little touches in the rooms, from fresh milk with the Tea & Coffee, to the bathroom soap/bath crystals. The bed was very comfy and the room had plenty of places to sit and relax. Fiona was very helpful with suggestions of things to do, including giving advice on the best time to see dolphins (she specifically looked up tide times without having to ask!). The food was out of this world. I opted for dinner both nights I stayed and I'm glad I did. Both nights the food was excellent, and presented with information about the ingredients, many of which are local. Breakfast was also fantastic - ordered the night before - with a range of different options. I will definitely be visiting again!
