My son and I spent one night here on May 2, 2025. It was an exhausting day because we were lied to and ripped off by Europcar. We couldn’t get any roadside assistance even though we paid extra for it. Upon finally arriving at the Luib we were met with understanding and caring. They have a small staff and a tough job. The owners are very successful people and have owned a number of businesses in Europe. I bonded with them and staff immediately. Sadly, I can see how people treat their business like it’s a public rest stop with free public amenities. That happens to them constantly. The Luib has so much character inside, btw. If not staying, go there in the evening for drinks, conversation, and atmosphere. I was shown genuine kindness by the owners and hope to see them again next year. We were very satisfied with our room and the ambiance was priceless. Highly recommend.

Traveling past, we had a flat tyre and quickly pulled into the hotel’s car park. An older lady came out and inquired why we were in the parking lot. We explained and asked if we could use a phone. Our international phones were spotty at best. She said they were closed and the maintenance personnel would prefer not to be disturbed. Ok, no worries at all. Later, she was outside and a member of my family asked her if she could sit at one of the tables in the field to get out of the sun… it was quite hot. She rudely stated, it’s our day off and we don’t want to be disturbed. So, we waited for 3.5 hours before roadside assistance could get to us. No water, no toilet, etc., we just asked to sit in the shade. Avoid the rude staff at all costs. Basic human decency is not here at this hotel at all. Please avoid!

We stayed in the campervan on one of their 8 spaces with an electric hook up. There is water and use of the toliet when the pub is open. You can pay £15 a night or buy dinner. This would be a perfect price and stop if somehow there was a shower indoors near the toilets or wooden building with slotted floor outside, like there is in Europe. We cycled the 6 miles down the back road to killin. The rooms are clean and owners lovely

Obviously an old building, with uneven floors throughout. That can be charming, if it's updated. This definitely needs to be updated, with dark, outdated carpets and interior. Beds were soso; not very good. The main reason I can't recommend it is the very grumpy proprieter that checked us out. He was rude to most of us and seemed put out to have us in his place.

We stayed for just one night and the staff at the hotel are what made our stay feel special. It’s not a 5* establishment and could do with a bit of upgrading but we were very comfortable and it offers very good value for money. Clean rooms, good shower, comfortable bed. Menu is a little limited but I had grilled fish and it was very fresh and delicious, highly recommend the Dauphinoise potatoes.

This is the place if you want a stay that is not over run by tourists and still want to feel the history of the drovers of the Highlands! It has a distinctly old fashioned feel with its crooked walls, uneven stairs and old wooden beams in the lobby which had a roaring fire. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. A limited food menu adds to the charms and it really is like back in the day.Saying that both the dinner and breakfast were cooked well and they had good strong tea. The rooms were clean and warm with old fashioned sash windows. Not a place to stay if you want some where modern with all the mod cons. A good old fashioned inn style stay with lots of atmosphere. If we ever get lucky enough to come back we will be hoping to stay here.Drue & Rebecca

Very warm welcome from Jamie on arrival and service throughout was second to none. Both he and John were able to offer advice on local walks and anything else we needed to know about the area and nothing was too much trouble. Room was small but warm and clean with a modern bathroom. Food was excellent and having booked on a cheap package deal for this time of year, we were more than happy with what we got in return. All the best to you all at the Luib and thanks for helping us enjoy a relaxing short break.
