The accommodation provides clean, spacious rooms with friendly staff, delicious traditional Scottish breakfast, and a peaceful rural location. However, some guests mentioned old-fashioned sash windows.

We stayed in the campervan on one of their 8 spaces with an electric hook up. There is water and use of the toliet when the pub is open. You can pay £15 a night or buy dinner. This would be a perfect price and stop if somehow there was a shower indoors near the toilets or wooden building with slotted floor outside, like there is in Europe. We cycled the 6 miles down the back road to killin. The rooms are clean and owners lovely

Obviously an old building, with uneven floors throughout. That can be charming, if it's updated. This definitely needs to be updated, with dark, outdated carpets and interior. Beds were soso; not very good. The main reason I can't recommend it is the very grumpy proprieter that checked us out. He was rude to most of us and seemed put out to have us in his place.

We stayed for just one night and the staff at the hotel are what made our stay feel special. It’s not a 5* establishment and could do with a bit of upgrading but we were very comfortable and it offers very good value for money. Clean rooms, good shower, comfortable bed. Menu is a little limited but I had grilled fish and it was very fresh and delicious, highly recommend the Dauphinoise potatoes.

This is the place if you want a stay that is not over run by tourists and still want to feel the history of the drovers of the Highlands! It has a distinctly old fashioned feel with its crooked walls, uneven stairs and old wooden beams in the lobby which had a roaring fire. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. A limited food menu adds to the charms and it really is like back in the day.Saying that both the dinner and breakfast were cooked well and they had good strong tea. The rooms were clean and warm with old fashioned sash windows. Not a place to stay if you want some where modern with all the mod cons. A good old fashioned inn style stay with lots of atmosphere. If we ever get lucky enough to come back we will be hoping to stay here.Drue & Rebecca

Very warm welcome from Jamie on arrival and service throughout was second to none. Both he and John were able to offer advice on local walks and anything else we needed to know about the area and nothing was too much trouble. Room was small but warm and clean with a modern bathroom. Food was excellent and having booked on a cheap package deal for this time of year, we were more than happy with what we got in return. All the best to you all at the Luib and thanks for helping us enjoy a relaxing short break.

Immediately on opening the door, you are greeted by a roaring fire and friendly staff and locals. The hotel is a little dated but is suitable for what we needed it for. The rooms could do with a refurb, but if you're there for the great outdoors, they are fine. The wifi wasn't brilliant, but once again, if you're there for nature, it's perfect. Breakfast was great.

Pros: - Beautiful location. Very rural and peaceful, I’m the middle of nowhere located next to a beautiful river surrounded by hillsides. Stunning - The food is out of this world! The fish and chips genuinely ARE the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The Scottish breakfast was gorgeous. The haggis is the best I had the whole time I was in Scotland. Really, really good food! Cons: - Not the warmest of places. Not especially made to feel welcome. There is some banter that takes place but it’s quite awkward and unsure whether the staff / owners are joking or not. - Paper thin walls. The walls in the bedrooms are so thin you can hear ever single word that is spoken by your neighbours! Not great when you’re trying to sleep. - Tired. The hotel is beautiful, but hasn’t had any upgrades for some time. The hotel itself maintains its character and Scottish heritage; this is wonderful. However, the beds and other furniture in the rooms is tired and uncomfortable, shower drain blocking during use; those kind of things. Wouldn’t wanted to stay longer the night we did. I would recommend this hotel as a pass through for sure! For the food if nothing else!

Had a wonderful one night stay at this hotel in Aug 2023. Comfortable and very clean rooms. High ceilings. Hot showers (pull the shower cord, wait a minute and voila, hot showers). Tea kettle and related amenities, water bottles in room. Absolutely gorgeous setting/stunning backyard. Owner (I think he was) also doubled as our barman and was super friendly. This was our favorite hotel of the 5 we stayed in last week. Is it luxury? No, and the reasonable price reflected that. Yes, the breakfast options are tea/coffee and full scottish. But it was not a problem for us. The eating area is warm and comfortable (better than the pictures online). It is a very old building (500 years?) and had the related quirks and charm that my son, husband and I really enjoyed. I would absolutely stay here again.
