I question the reviews on this hotel. It is dirty, dark and in need of a revamp. Don't waste your money on this hotel, the only good thing is the views. On arriving we were taken upto our room and was greeted by curtains hanging off the pole, wallpaper away from the walls and the mattress was disgusting ( I spelt on top of the duvet), pillows were tired and yuc! The duvet was small and very thin for the bed. The bathroom was shockingly dirty, poo in the toilet, toilet seat needed changing, dust on the cistern ( cleanly marks that the bathroom had not been cleaned for a while), shower door didnt fit and water ran every where. The vanity was unusualable and the taps were very stiff to move from hot to cold. The carpets in the room was dirty and not seen a hover. Breakfast: was coffee/tea/toast extra was becon/sausage/egg bap ( they dont do breakfast). We had eaten the previous night before and again it was basic and over priced for it, my partner had chicken and chips £15.95 I stayed with soup, I didn't fancy anything else because of the state of the place. I would like to make it clear, if wehad been in a car and it was not raining we would not have stayed there!

My son and I spent one night here on May 2, 2025. It was an exhausting day because we were lied to and ripped off by Europcar. We couldn’t get any roadside assistance even though we paid extra for it. Upon finally arriving at the Luib we were met with understanding and caring. They have a small staff and a tough job. The owners are very successful people and have owned a number of businesses in Europe. I bonded with them and staff immediately. Sadly, I can see how people treat their business like it’s a public rest stop with free public amenities. That happens to them constantly. The Luib has so much character inside, btw. If not staying, go there in the evening for drinks, conversation, and atmosphere. I was shown genuine kindness by the owners and hope to see them again next year. We were very satisfied with our room and the ambiance was priceless. Highly recommend.

The owners were kind and helpful at getting us checked in and showing us our rooms. The place was sufficient for our needs but not ideal. There were no outlets in our room that were reachable. We had to plug things in in the hallway. Our bedding was clean, but the extra pillows on the top of the cabinet did not have changed pillow cases and had hair on them.

We couldn’t get any roadside assistance even though we paid extra for it Upon arrival at the Luib, we were met with understanding and caring. They have a small staff and a tough job. The owners are very successful people and have owned a number of businesses in Europe and now live in their hometown. I bonded with them and staff immediately. Some reviewers are upset that they were denied bathroom amenities. Sadly, I can see how some entitled people treat the Luib like it’s a public rest stop with free public amenities. It is a beautiful 17th century building, quirky and old. Maybe because it is out of high season, they had a very limited selection of food and drink and it just felt like we were too much trouble? The fan in the bathroom was really noisy which is a problem for late night needs and the mattress was super soft and lumpy!

Traveling past, we had a flat tyre and quickly pulled into the hotel’s car park. An older lady came out and inquired why we were in the parking lot. We explained and asked if we could use a phone. Our international phones were spotty at best. She said they were closed and the maintenance personnel would prefer not to be disturbed. Ok, no worries at all. Later, she was outside and a member of my family asked her if she could sit at one of the tables in the field to get out of the sun… it was quite hot. She rudely stated, it’s our day off and we don’t want to be disturbed. So, we waited for 3.5 hours before roadside assistance could get to us. No water, no toilet, etc., we just asked to sit in the shade. Avoid the rude staff at all costs. Basic human decency is not here at this hotel at all. Please avoid!
