The Stone House Inn

We were looking for a place to stay that was close to the Black Canyon and operated by the owners. We especially wanted to hike along the north rim trails and visit Crested Butte. The Stone House Inn checked all of the boxes. The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the coffee machine provided a tasty brew in the early morning while I sat on the porch swing reading and watching the day get started. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the restaurant right across the street and the coffee shop a few doors down the street. The owner was very friendly, helpful, and provided useful information on the best way over the mountain to Crested Butte and other activities. Staying in a small inn in a small town with friendly people in beautiful surroundings certainly provides a sense of peace and restfulness. We were very satisfied with the Stone House Inn.

Loved this historic Inn, located in a small town. They were very helpful getting us to see a different, less crowded area of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Very small town, breakfast across the street or next door. We had breakfast directly across the street both mornings we were there.

The inn is a wonderfully cozy, attractive place to stay. I really appreciate the owner introducing himself and helping us sort out some unexpected travel issues. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay at the Stone House Inn again.

This was the best-appointed room we have ever stayed in. The innkeeper thought of every detail. There is a good restaurant a cross the street. The area looks fun to explore which unfortunately we didn't have time to do. Highly recommend. We stayed in the King Bed room.

Had a lovely getaway 2 day vacation with my granddaughter, visiting the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Thoroughly enjoyed our lodgings and the pretty gardens that the friendly owners, Lara and Nathan, planted all around the Inn. Very nicely furnished, adaptive use of a historic home in the town. We stayed in the side with a large accessible shower - great for older people, like myself. The cemetery is also worth a visit. Good food in the restaurant across the street. Would stay here again.

This might be the most perfect inn/hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. It has a very nice combination of rustic feel and modern conveniences. Very comfortable bed, comfortable pillows. Modern plumbing, electrical outlets, refrigerator freezer (very quiet), Keurig coffeemaker, electric kettle with a nice selection of coffee and teas. Etcetera. The hosts obviously have taken great care to make it comfortable and to provide everything you might need for your stay. There's a pretty good restaurant across the street and a great coffee shop about 1/2 block away. Otherwise, Crawford doesn't have a lot to offer except location: close proximity to the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Crawford State Park (hiking and boating), and the cities Hotchkiss and Paonia with wider selections of restaurants and wineries. The room contains a helpful, well-written and extensive guide to restaurant and coffee shops and points of interest. The stone house inn is on the main street, aka CO 92, and the interior walls of the Stone House Inn are probably not as well insulated as some modern hotels. This results in some noise although traffic through town is supposed to be 25 mph, so it's not like a freeway out there. We didn't find the noise a deal breaker; your experience may vary.
