My partner and I booked a two night stay in Lodge 1 at the Throstle Nest & Farm, Skipton, Yorkshire to celebrate my 51st birthday between 12th and 14th March 2025. We booked this through Airbnb because of the stunning views and that it had a hot tub between the side of the lodge and the adjacent wood. The good points - The Lodge is ideally located for visiting Skipton, Haworth and the surrounding towns/villages. The views across the valley from the lodge are absolutely stunning with trains running along the bottom of the valley every 20 minutes or so. Such a peaceful and relaxing outlook. The layout of the lodge consists of an entrance area with seat and coat hangers, open plan kitchen, dining and living area with large screen TV, electric stove style fire and electric radiators. Two bwdrooms, the main with en-suite and a main bathroom. The hot tub is private and you are not overlooked by anyone. The bad points - Cleanliness of the lodge was the main issue we had during our stay. We had to rewash some of the glasses, plates and cutlery as they had a coating of grease over them. The kitchen benches were sticky and also hadn't been cleaned properly. Under the bath mats in both bathroom floors were dirty when my partner moved them and she had to reclean both bathroom floors. All the window glass were marked and all the windows could've done with a clean. After a long day, we were looking forward to a soak in the hot tub. However, upon getting in, it was obvious that this had not been cleaned after the previous guests. The water in the hot tub was dirty and murky, with a coating of dead skin scum floating on the top of the water. I used a blue fishing type net I found next to the hot tub to clean the water and get rid of alot of this scum. Not perfect, but better than doing nothing and not being able to use the hot tub for the rest of our stay. The settee in living room area needs either fixing or replacing as part of the seating has collapsed and some of the settee cushions need washing as they were dirty and marked. Each morning we were woken up by a large black bird banging its beak off the window of the second bedroom (see photo). Car parking for lodge 1 and 2 is just off the lane leading to the B&B farmhouse. It is supposed to be suitable for four cars. You might get four small cars parked there, but it would be very tight for space. All luggage has to be carried from the car to the lodge about 20 - 30 metres away. You cannot get your car right next to the lodge to assist with unpacking/repacking. Communication with the host could've been better. No confirmation message sent after we had either paid the deposit or paid the balance. One generic message sent 5 days before our stay with key location and postcode information was the only communication we had with the host. No visit or communication with our host during our stay. I sent a message for the wifi code (and inspite of Airbnb stating that there was usually

This farm is set in a beautiful location near Skipton, although the rolling countryside does not hide the regular trains which run fairly frequently during the week in both directions within view of the property. We were a little miffed on our arrival as one of the owners was busy gardening (admittedly we had arrived before the 4 pm time suggested) and stoically ignored us until we called out! We had a large room, which was well equipped with hairdryer, tea and coffee supplies etc but which showed signs of tiredness. The white bedlinen, although clean was greying and in need of repair in places and the bath towels (also originally white) were somewhat tatty and threadbare. The owners go out of their way to provide DVD's, games and books for guests' use and the lounge area for guests looks very comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful and was served by helpful, cheerful and accommodating staff. The property has several rooms as well as a small cottage at the side and, as such, would benefit from more parking spaces. There was just about enough space for the number of cars, providing everyone parked sensibly but we still had difficulty shoehorning our car into the one remaining space when we returned mid-evening after a meal in Skipton.

Fantastic lodge, it’s very tastefully decorated with everything you need. Lovely comfortable bed. The views are amazing and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Communication with the owner was extremely easy. Would definitely recommend it

Just beautiful. Hot homemade breakfast, quiet, super comfortable. Very welcoming family. Location requires a car or taxi to town. . We had access to both. Worth being in the beautiful countryside. Highly recommended and a great value as well.

The accomodation is amazing. Very clean and very comfortable with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. We stayed here as part of the bridal party for a wedding and it suited our needs perfectly. A few minor niggles that need attending to in Lodge 2 : broken fridge shelf, broken clock, sticking wardrobe doors.

The B & B is in a stunning location with beautiful views. We received a warm welcome in spite of arriving early, and were shown to our room. The bedroom was spacious and well appointed, with pleasant modern decor. The house itself had many traditional features. Our room was very comfortable and had a decent sized shower. There was an excellent range of breakfast items, including hot and cold food. The establishment is very near Skipton, with its visitor attractions. We would certainly pay a return visit if in the area again
