Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa

Stayed 5 nights in a private rental house on Ramshead trail. Teenage sons found enough activities in resort to get off their iPad ! Archery, kayaking, trampoline, b-grade (good enough) golf course & native animals. Beautiful valley location with summer light hours passing wonderfully. Pleasant little general store and delicious Italian restaurant onsite. Made a full day up at Thredbo for mountain biking using chairlift.

Overall, very good and we’ll probably book again next year. Comfortable accommodation (a 3 bedroom lake view), if a little tired. Some hanging hooks for ski jackets would have been welcome. A very convenient shuttle bus arrangement to and from the skitube. An excellent Italian restaurant on site. Plenty of non skiing activities, particularly for children - pool, archery and trampolines - with a small golf course as well. Mountain bikes too. Excellent walks. It’d be good for a non-skiing holiday I believe. Having not skied at Perisher for many years, we’ve come away as real fans. Much better than Thredbo in many respects, particularly for young children

Beautiful spot. Full of relaxation or activities, whatever you want. Good breakfast provided and dinner at Perrotta's was great.

After reading reviews prior to our stay, I was a little nervous about whether the accommodation would be as described (seems that units/chalets are not allocated until closer to check in date), whether we’d get seats at the restaurant for dinner (no bookings taken), whether our chalet would have a fireplace (not guaranteed), whether the accommodation would be comfortable (reports of unclean or ‘tired’). We needn’t have worried because the chalet (‘Mogul’) was fabulous (might be luck…but giving the benefit of doubt): • Super comfy beds • Very clean and in good condition (bonus: stylish and a bit posh) • Spacious living areas – great for 5 guests (bonus: large bathtub…though we didn’t get the chance to use it) • Well-appointed. We didn’t cook, but there looked to be plenty of pots, pans, utensils etc. Plenty of glassware, crockery, teapot, plunger etc. • Fireplace (with firewood and kindling available from reception) • Lovely views – not right on the little lake/pond, but chalets are arranged in a staggered pattern so those at the ‘back’ can still see the lake and the mountain range • Garage (I imagine parking would be a nightmare in winter) The resort itself: Cuisine restaurant had pleasant and attentive staff, reasonably priced meals and drinks, food was nice (not amazing), relaxed atmosphere, breakfast (included) had a great range of hot & cold food & drinks. Reception: check-in was smooth (within business hours), staff were helpful when our access cards became deactivated before checkout time (fixed it immediately) General: great location (close to hikes, Thredbo etc) lovely grounds and plenty of activities (although we didn’t partake, rather we went up and down the valley for walks, lunch etc). Will definitely bring my bike next time. Our package was the Girls Getaway – included Birdsnest vouchers, WildBrumby items for cocktails, wine, cheese, Poachers Pantry deli meats, and a lovely hamper FULL of sweet and savoury treats. It was the first stay at Crackenback for most of us, and we all agreed that we’d come back either together or with our respective families. Whilst not cheap, there was definitely value in the accommodation, the beautiful grounds and spectacular surrounds.

It is with great disappointment that I write this email. We arrived on Friday 30/11/23 in anticipation to celebrating a wonderful wedding anniversary at Lake Crackenback Resort and spa. As we had changed our original booking ( due to the passing of family member) we were grateful to re scheduled to 30/11/23- 03/12/23 As no refund for the price difference for the changed accomodation was available, we had a room credit of $290 which we were told could be enjoyed at the resort. A few days before check in we were advised via email that all water sports activities were no longer available as per advertised brochure due to routine maintenance. Disappointed but accepted. Afternoon Check in was fine, friendly staff. After unpacking made our way to the pool then dinner at Larder restaurant. We were told at reception that Cuisine restaurant was booked out for an event (Porsche Club) on 30/11 and 01/12 so we resorted to Lardner to use some of our room credit. Unfortunately all advertised meals on menu at Larder were not available so ordered caesar salad. Asked if chicken could be added. The only alternative was chicken cubes?? I declined Chef’s suggestion. Very poor meal. Returned to room disappointed. 01/12- Awoke to do laps in the pool ( it was pouring with rain) tried to swipe the card to no avail. Although the card worked yesterday it failed to let us in after 8am opening hours. We Phoned reception and was told by female ( I think her name was Bobbi) there had been problems with swiping and battery either needed to be changed or had been changed? Could I walk to the office. I explained its pouring and she said she could not come down as she was the only one working and no maintenance on offer to help. Very frustrated to locked out of swimming and gym facility . Returned to our room to find that neither TV was working so we went for breakfast and enjoyed our inclusive breakfast at Cuisine which was very appetising and delicious. During breakfast we overheard a couple confirming their dinner booking for that evening. We asked if the restaurant was open as we had been told the previous day that it was closed. Confused, we made our reservation for later that evening. As we were trying to think of ways to use up our credit we went to the spa and wellness office to book in. Unfortunately they were fully booked with only one morning available, 9am on the Sunday of our departure. We booked regardless. We returned to our room to again find the TV's not working. We phoned reception to report. We were told someone will be down shortly. Waited 30 minutes in our room and phoned again. Was told someone had been to our room to fix the problem. As we had not left our room we knew this information not to be true. Receptionist replied "oh I thought they had been" After a couple of hours we again phoned reception to ask an update. Was told that cable had been accidently cut and will be out for another hour or so. A short time later w

A fantastic location, and luckily for us, brilliant weather. Although the outside of our lakeside accommodation looked a little tired, our inside accommodation was clean, modern and comfortable. The resort activities were great and the kids had a great time. A little overpriced for what it was, but the location and activities made up for kids not sitting on devices. The buffet breakfast was great although for a resort, staff grooming and customer interactions could do with some minor improvements. Overall a great stay.
