A pleasant experience right from the onset of booking the room to be greeted when checking in Marc and Joe were exceptionally kind and accommodating. I spent a few hours downstairs in a bar before retiring to my room and a very nice pub meal basic but absolutely friendly and welcoming and comfortable. The location is right in the middle of town on the west side of cows easy access to the red jet and shops however the only slight downside, you do have to accept there is a bit of noise early in the morning as the shops are receiving their deliveries, this didn’t bother me. it’s something I accepted being offset by being in a great location. I was here in January so very quiet but suspect it could be noisier at the height of the season.

There is an appealing divided room when you walk in. Unfortunately this was full so we sat in the back which is more like a canteen. Although it was warm at the front of the pub it was cold on the day we were there. If it hadn’t been chucking it down we would have looked elsewhere. Probably OK if you can get in the front.

I can’t fault the Anchor. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by friendly staff. We were instantly upgraded to a larger room with its own bathroom. The rooms are clean and equipped. We were in Cowes for a wedding and we leisurely got ready and went to the pub for a drink. Good selection of beers and the pub offers a ‘good ole pub’ feeling which has been lost with the growing eateries. As islanders this was nice to see. We had a comfortable nights sleep- clean linen and towels. The pub was noisy on our return to the room but it is a pub !! So I would expect nothing less. Great atmosphere and lots of folk enjoying themselves. We were asked by staff on checking out if everything was ok and this felt like a genuine question and not lip service. The accommodation is more than adequate and at the current rates who could complain. We will definitely be back. Cowes is a great place for a night out and The Anchor has proved to be a hidden gem.

A good room, great staff, a feet from the hustle and bustle and the water. We had the last room left. Amenities in room. En-suite. Clean and fresh, a little noisy in the morning. Deliveries start early so clatter and voices. Other than the hard climb, at our age, to the top it was a lively time. We will return , hopefully to a bigger room. We could some as we were leaving and they were cleaning. Would I recommend? For the price - yes. No complaints.

We have enjoyed what will be 4 nights at the Anchor when we checkout tomorrow. Our twin bedded room has been warm, cosy and well equipped. With a fabulous high pressure hot shower; most welcome after long coastal walks. Fresh towels and replenished tea trays, with delightful staff attending to our every need. Nothing has been too much trouble! The bar has a fantastic vibe, friendly and welcoming. The location, unmatched! Perfect as a base for exploring the island, round the corner from the bus stop into Newport and a stones throw from local restaurants and cafes. Superb value for money. We enjoyed a meal on our second night. Chicken and gammon pie with green peas, and a Ploughman’s, proper pub grub! Live music on our third night, great fun. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to enjoy a bit of a lively drink and social time. Got plenty of different beers and ciders. Good friendly staff with some decent pub food. Lots of little nooks and crannies to sit in with friends.

Budget hotel twin room above the pub. Ideal for one night stay. Room was small but adequate for stopover night break. Private bathroom but not ensuite - so inconvenient to use during the night. No breakfast on offer. Room was basic but quiet.

Booked in for the night as we are attending a works do this evening. Really lovely clean room, very comfy bed, spotlessly clean bath and shower. Really friendly greeting. Only drawback for me, but personal, they don't have pernod so have to settle for vodka!!!!!! Looking forward to this evening and a really nice start. Sitting in the bar you can imagine the sailors of yesteryear sitting talking about their exploits! Little gem of a place
