If you are concerned at all about security, don't stay at Crocodylus. There are no locks on the cabin doors. When I asked about this, the owner said casually, "No-one has ever had anything stolen from their rooms yet." It would be so cheap just to put some padlocks on the doors even as a deterrent, but he doesn't seem to think it's necessary. I'm sure he won't be the first to offer to pay when it does happen. There are people strolling by at all times of the day and night and it would be very easy just to walk in and take what you want with impunity. I hope when it happens (and it will) that it won't be you.

it was great to experience the Daintree as it is, without the pollution of people. We have a yellow-footed bird that made a loud noise at night so didn't sleep well, and woke up to a cassowary on our doorstep. The daintree really does come alive at night. My partner really enjoyed the night tour and the explanation of the preservation of nature and luminance. I enjoyed the access to the cafe and a kitchen so we made our dinner one night, and ordered another. We then used the board games to play with friends at night.

Amazing experience in an amazing region! Daintree Crocodylus enabled us to discover the Rainforest from a unique perspective, including enjoying a cassowary’s visit during breakfast. Steve and Sally were warm, helpful and generous hosts! We will definitely be back.

This is by far the best experience in the Daintree. Great accommodation- yes it’s basic, but get to you sleep within the beautiful jungle. Mosquito nets and comfy beds and a fantastic, restful sleep full of the sounds of nature. They offer home cooked food, good coffee and a very warm welcome. The hosts are knowledgable and friendly and happy to share their time to chat and talk about their passion.. Daintree. I was lucky enough to share my breakfast coffee with a curious cassowary who wandered in. Second time I have visited and I will definitely be back.

Clean & comfortable budget accom. So fun to sleep in rainforest under canvas whilst having mod cons of a treehouse/lodge. Lots of animal/bird noises to listen to overnight. Would recommend! Easy & enjoyable walk in the jungle & opportunity to do guided night walk. Was surprised by cost $40 per adult $30 per child but knowledge of guide Jamie was immense and fascinating

The hotel that we booked in Daintree was permanently closed. We were driving around getting pretty nervous that we weren't going to find a place to stay as it was late in the evening. We happened across Crocodylus. Craig could tell that we were on edge. He offered us food and said he would find a room for us. He was so focused on helping, that he forgot to charge us (which I reminded him of). Our cabin was right in the middle of the rain forest, it was perfect. The breakfast the next day was very good too! Wish we could have stayed longer.

This is only a review of the meals and mood in the evenings, because I didn't stay here overnight. I want to note that 1. The staff and guests were very friendly and welcoming 2. The food was very good 3. LIVE MUSIC on Tues nights! And it was very good! And there was a time of OPEN MIC which was hilarious.

We came from the UK and were really looking forward to a once in a lifetime experience of staying in the rainforest for a day. However after arriving were more aware of snakes, huge spiders etc and got wary and worried. Craig the caretaker was really lovely, and was honest regarding possibilities of what might happen and me being pedantic I wanted to know nearest A&E etc in case a snake came into the room, etc (which I believe has never happened in the last 6 months that he’s been there which was reassuring). It’s secluded, you feel you’re in nature, you can hear all the noises at night of birds, animals, frogs, crickets, so perhaps not great if you’re a light sleeper or don’t want that. I’d use insect repellants before entering and around the mosquito nets, as prior to that there were moths, a baby lizard outside our bed, all unusual insects buzzing around. We had a lovely time, played lots of games , drank some wine (we got) and ate in the common area, which was open and felt lively with Craig playing lovely music and his dog Stella who was a star, so friendly loving strokes. There is also a guide who takes you out in the rainforest for a charge at night, which we didn’t do to see cassowary’s and wildlife. ours was the rainforest bungalow and we were there with adult daughter, had 4 bunk beds and a double room, bathroom and was clean.. All in all for one night was a great stay thank you

Do not go here looking for a luxury experience... Power comes on at 5pm and in the morning . There are a range of options including cabins with and without ensuites and dorms. The rooms are a bit basic (we had a double bed plus bunk bed for the kids, with mosquito nets. The shared amentieis are very clean and well looked after. But we didn't spend much time in the rooms except to sleep. The communal eating area is really good, and people are encouraged to hang out and chat together. There is a communal kitchen if you want to self cater, and if not, the dinners and breakfasts are very tasty. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The night time rainforest tour is an absolute must.
