Well I was shocked today myself and a few friends went for lunch it was 2 years since we were there but we will not be back we asked the receptionist who was not very polite he ushered us to the back of the hotel to a very small room with 4/5 tables it wasn’t the cleanest When we always visited we had lunch in the main restaurant which we were told it doesn’t open till 17.00pm we always have drinks and 3 course each it was a big let down when you visit a hotel for lunch you like to be seated in a nice restaurant all I can say is I won’t be back the restaurant used to be busy at lunch time not no more such a shame

2pm Saturday May 17th. I've gone into The Highlands Hotel for lunch many times over the years and evening dinner sometimes as well. Generally the staff are very friendly and helpful. Also happy enough with the food most times. However, went in for lunch today. Reception person was at the desk. I told her I was going into the lounge where I always go as the coffee cafe part doesn't suit me since I'm disabled and in pain. It takes a long while to get from A to B. She could have easily told the waiting staff I needed a menu. It would have taken her about 3 mins. But no K didn't bother. She left me for 40mins in her sights, not bothered that I was not getting any service, before going down there herself for seemingly a chat and still no menu for me. Eventually I asked another costumer who came in to let the wait staff know there was a customer. That receptionist expected me to do her job. Its not that she doesn't know me as I'm a frequent customer. Normally I wouldn't wait 40 mins but I wanted to see how arrogant and badly behaved she could be. The waiting staff Clare and Tristan were lovely as were the two reception people Anne and Riaghan who came on at 3pm. There was only one couple checked in during that 40 mins. I don't know what kind of training this woman has but perhaps washing dishes is more suited to her than dealing with customers.

Really lovely, relaxing hotel with very helpful and accomodating staff. Seriously comfy beds, excellent breakfast / evening food, ideal for travelling around Donegal. Love the artwork, its like an art gallery inside. Will definitely be back 😀

We use this hotel regularly over the years but particularly recently when we had a family bereavement. We were greeted with warmth , empathy and supported in every possible way which made our burden easier to bear. The accommodation and food were excellent as were the rooms. The staff went beyond the call of duty to help us particularly Anne and Kathleen on reception who looked after our every need . We are most appreciative to all the staff for their help and will certainly be returning to this hotel. The warmth and hospitality are exceptional. Thank you

We didn’t stayed here. We just had some dinner. The food was the worst pricey food we have eaten during our whole three weeks stay in Ireland. We had Ceasar Salat , Chicken Wings and traditional Chicken with Bananas and Pineapple. The Chicken Wings were not eatable. We would not recommend to eat something here

Lovely clean hotel. We stayed 1 night on a quiet Saturday night in February. Extremely warm reception, and beautiful room. We stayed in the Suite room (2). Gorgeous decor and colour. Huge bathroom with separate bath & shower (larger bath sheets would have been great, and maybe bathrobes to compliment such a lovely room!). The breakfast had a good selection and was freshly made to order. A great spot in a lovely location.

I had come based on a recommendation from a work colleague. The older waitress serving was extremely rude and in my opinion would rather see the establishment close than crack a smile. Menus thrown on table, no specials but the table beside who i presume she knew got a completely different service. When we asked for bill didn’t get as much as a thanks!!!! Avoid at all costs
