King's Kastle is a lakeside cottage with a large screen in porch with BQ grill, table with chairs, see thru roof, 30 feet from Salmon Lake, sandy shallow shore with a 35 feet long alum dock with ladder, 3 bedrooms, sleeps 7, large master bedroom with two full baths, large sleep sofa, complete with 1 two man kayak and 2 one man kayaks plus canoe and paddles. Great fishing just off the dock. The yard has a large stone fireplace and picnic table. Relax to the sound of the loons with their babies on their back, just a few feet from shore with eagle's and ospray's flying overhead showing you how to catch fish. Near by on the lake are the Eagle's and ospray's nests. There is a large grocery store on RT 8 that sells lobsters, food and fishing supplies and 3 pharmacy stores Walmart, CVS, Wallgreens, and 4 grocery stores just a few miles away, also a Marden's surplus & salvage store in Waterville just 15 minutes away where you can buy most everything at a big discount price. Also near by is Caswells food discount store. Cook your Lobster and roast your marshmallows on the outside stone fireplace with a spectacular view of the lake facing the Sunrise. The view of the lighthouse on Ladies Delight Island. “Maine’s only freshwater, landlocked lighthouse plays sentinel to one of the state’s longest lakes, bordering five towns over nine miles. Designed by Boston marine architect Frank Morse, the 25-foot lighthouse was constructed to prevent vessels from going aground on a jagged reef in the middle of the lake. Initial construction proved hairy (not to mention comical) when the builders set out to transport two oxen to the island to help raise the structure. The crew could only haul one ox at a time due to the size of their barge. After they dropped one ox at the site and were on their way to fetch the other, the first ox apparently got lonesome and began swimming back to the mainland to find his friend. The basement living room is great for kids with plenty of board games, puzzles, and space to play. We recently added a second Smart TV to the basement.*Additional Bedrooms:Two additional bedrooms are on the basement level. The second bedroom is cozy, with a queen-sized bed (w/ cotton linens) and plenty of extra blankets. There is a garment rack and dresser.The other basement-level bedroom is perfect for adults or kids. It has two twin beds, a large closet, and a dresser. All linens included. * Laundry Room:There is a small laundry room in the basement with a washing machine and dryer. Detergent provided.*Outdoors:Outside you can enjoy the large yard, expansive deck, private dock, and outdoor fire pit. We currently have 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, and 1 stand-up paddleboard for guests. Dexter Pond is a hidden gem with minimal boat traffic. The fishing is great and the water is calm (and warm!), making it ideal for kayaking and paddle boarding. Water levels of the pond vary, but it tends to be shallow with some vegetation only directly in front of the camp. Once out on the pond, the water is nice and clear for swimming. We recommend stand-up paddle boarding or relaxing on a float in the water!*Other Amenities:- Yoga Mats- Stand Up Paddleboard- Kayaks- Canoes- Fire pit - wood providedThe camp comfortably sleeps 6, however, it can accommodate up to 8 guests (with the pull-out sofa and futon).The camp would also make a great space for long-term renters - looking for some peace, but close to other area amenities. A desk can be added if needed. Our property is a must-stay in all seasons!OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:The cottage is not a party-rental. It's a perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy the outdoors. We ask that renters are respectful of this for us and our neighbors.The cottage is on a well-maintained dirt road. Guests are asked to drive slow. There is a small narrow bridge that you must cross to get to the home. It is completely safe and rest assured that large trucks cross it.Both indoor fireplaces are non-functional.Because the cottage is a split level, please be aware that it may not be suitable for families with babies. A sunny wrap deck, outdoor dining space, and Weber grill set the stage for watching the sunsets and having late-night dinners.
