And of course, Finlandia is just steps away from one of the nicest (and widest) beaches on Hatteras Island, giving you access to endless beach days during your stay! Finlandia is also located about 1 mile north of the Avon Pier.Inside Finlandia, you'll be greeted by an open living area complete with a flat-screen Smart TV and seating for the whole crew. When it's time for meals, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals during your stay including stainless steel appliances, a stocked kitchen, and both traditional and Keurig coffee makers. With breakfast bar seating for 4 along with dining room seating for 4 as well, everyone can enjoy meals together as a family. Even better? Take advantage the beautiful Hatteras Island weather and dine on the large private sundeck at the picnic table! At Finlandia, each bedroom is perfect for you to relax and unwind after a fun-filled day on the Outer Banks. Additional amenities at Finlandia include an electric Weber grill, outdoor shower, fish cleaning table, Nest thermostat, and high-speed WiFi provided by Silicon Travel with concierge service.A little history:All beams for the home were manufactured in Kokkola, Finland by a company named Bothniahouse. Bothniahouse was known for building log homes, still popular to this day in Finland. The logs made their way to the US and Finlandia was built on site in Avon. It reportedly may be the only home on the island like it.While the home has been updated, some of the original features and details remain. All inside walls and ceilings are the original wood beams, In the back bedroom, you will even see the back of a stone fireplace that was at one time a centerpiece of the home. The laundry room was at one time a sauna room. If you look closely outside the home above the main door area, you will still see an exposed beam that has the original stamp from Kokkola, Finland and Bothniahouse. Wecome to Flee to the Sea! This quaint waterfront cottage is a newbie to the rental program and has been completely renovated top to bottom. You will love the location... waterfront home on a quiet street and a quick walk to one of the greatest beaches on the Outer Banks. Stroll down the convenient beach access or drive on the beach at one of the many OVR beach accesses.Located in a quiet waterfront neighborhood in Northern Avon, and just a quick walk to the beach. The locals coined the phrase "MDNA" ( most desirable northern Avon). Convenient to many local shops, restaurants, ice cream and coffee houses.This location is also convenient to spend the day fishing, kite surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or boarding a small boat. Fish and catch crabs from our dock! Included with your stay is the use of our three kayaks (1 adult and 2 children's) and stand-up paddleboard which can easily be launched right outside our back door.Inside the home you will find an open floor plan with renovated kitchen. New stainless steel appliances will make cooking your meals convenient, and the kitchen comes well stocked with all the items you will need. The three bedrooms include two queen beds and 2 single beds. Cable TVnand high speed WIFI is provided and smart TVs allow access to all your streaming apps. The kids bedroom is super fun with a custom built- in bunk bed. One full bath with tub is located between the two master bedrooms. The lower level includes onsite laundry with brand new washer and dryer. Plus and extra refrigerator to store all your goodies. Outside you will find two large decks and our dock to view the amazing sunsets the Outer Banks are known for. The lower level allows for covered parking and is convenient to the outdoor grill, outdoor shower and fish cleaning station. The upper decks are huge allowing for some extra living space, and is perfect for watching the sunset. The views are spectacular!To make your stay more fun, access to our three kayaks, stand-up paddleboard are all included which can easily be launched right from our back door.
