Old Cottage is a delightful self - catering cottage that sleeps four in two bedrooms, one spacious double and one cosy twin. The Cottage is in the heart of the secluded village of Trevone and is just a 3 min walk to the sandy beach of Trevone Bay and a 2 mile drive from the picturesque fishing harbour of Padstow, home to Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. Old Cottage is the ideal retreat for families, couples, weekend breakers wanting to take in the beauty the North Cornish Coast to surf, walk, rock-pool, cycle the Camel Trail or just while away the time on the beach. After a full day out relax back at the cottage in the comfort of this fantastic 19th century property. The winter months are ideal for long weekends away exploring and then curling up in front of the fire. Summer is all about the beach, we have many happy memories of our childhood holidays rock-pooling, surfing and lazy days in the sun.The cottage is over 100 years old boast an oak beamed living/ dining room, fully equipped bespoke cottage kitchen, a bathroom with shower and a lovely secluded garden ideal for those evening barbecues and watching the sun go down. You will find everything you would expect at home including tv, microwave, nespresso coffee machine, iPod docking station, Wifi, hair dryer, BBQ and a selection of buckets and spades for those lazy days on the beach.The property is one of the oldest in the village and dates back to 1890 with all the character that brings. Located in the heart of this friendly village peaceful village. There is a local village farm shop as well as the beach store for all your essentials. Lobster Pot Cottage is a 'fisherman's style' cottage with a parking space, situated right in the heart of Padstow and only 175 yards from the quayside.It is built partly of Delabole slate, with huge oak beams, oak doors, and floors of oak and old flagstones and the property has been finished to a very high specification with a charming vaulted living area at first floor level.Downstairs there is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with oak beams, oak doors and a fitted wardrobe. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor with a modern range of sanitary ware, a shower over the bath and stone tiles. Old flagstones run throughout this level with under floor heating.Upstairs there is a light and airy living area with the lounge one side of the oak staircase and the dining area the other. The room has a vaulted ceiling with huge oak beams and an oak floor with central heating and is decorated with a nautical theme as befitting it's Lobster Pot name. There is a TV with integral DVD together with a radio/CD player. The large, comfortable corner sofa converts to a sofa bed if needed. The kitchen leads off the dining area and has a range of modern units, as well as an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and is very well equipped. Off the lounge and kitchen is a small terrace with garden furniture for dining alfresco with a gate and steps down from the terrace to ground floor level. N.B. PETS ARE NOT accepted in this property. PLEASE NOTE:Short breaks of 2, 3 or 4 nights are calculated on a percentage basis (not a nightly rate) and are normally, only accepted from November - end of February, unless we still have availability closer to the commencement date.We do not accept a short break during the Christmas week but do accept a 3 or 4 night short break over the New Year.AROUND THE LOCAL AREA.The historic town of Padstow has evolved around the busy harbour and quayside and is very picturesque with its narrow streets, littered with cafes, restaurants, interesting shops and tiny cottages. Much of the locally caught fish and seafood are sent to fish markets all over the country, but there is still plenty for the locals and the visitors, especially for the town's renowned seafood restaurants.The town is surrounded by rugged cliffs, hidden coves and beautiful sandy beaches, such as Porthcothan, Constantine, Treyaron, Trevone, Harlyn, Daymer and Watergate bay. There is a ferry in the summer which takes visitors over to Rock on the other side of the estuary.There is plenty to keep visitors happy, whether it is walking along the coastal path, cycling the Camel trail, surfing, visiting National Trust houses and gardens or just wandering around the shops and watching the local fisherman attending to their daily chores.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 10:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About customRules:Strictly No Smoking allowed. Castaway Cottage is situated in the heart of the quaint village of Trevone with a parking space and only 100 metres from the sandy beach.Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen/dining room incorporating a range of modern fitted units as well as an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. There is also a large oak dining table which seats 6. In addition, the twin bedroom is also located on the same floor - which has been charmingly furnished as well as the main bathroom which has a modern range of sanitary ware with a shower over the bath.Upstairs there is a light and airy lounge with designer sofas (one of which is a double sofa bed), TV, DVD, music system and books. The double bedroom is also on this level, and features a large window overlooking the courtyard garden, and has been decorated to a very high standard. The en-suite is located off this bedroom and has a toilet, sink and shower.To the outside is a well enclosed courtyard garden as well as a parking space.Whilst we accept well behaved dogs for an additional cost of £50 per pet, per week or per short break stay, please contact us to check if you wish to take more than one dog.PLEASE NOTE:Short breaks of 2, 3 or 4 nights are calculated on a percentage basis (not a nightly rate) and are normally, only accepted from November - end of February, unless we still have availability closer to the commencement date.We do not accept a short break during the Christmas week but do accept a 3 or 4 night short break over the New Year.TREVONE AND THE LOCAL AREA.Trevone is a small village which is famous for its two beaches (sandy beach & rocky beach), a general store, beach car parks, a pub and a surf store. The main sandy beach is a beautiful cove with the famous ‘Round Hole’ on the cliff top, which is life guarded (dog prohibited) during the summer months. Just around the bay is Rocky Beach, perfect for rock pooling, shell collecting and also featuring a natural swimming pool. Surfing and body boarding are very popular in Trevone and nearby Harlyn Bay with many local surf schools that teach all age groups.Trevone is ideally situated as a base for North Cornwall and beyond. Padstow is just a few minutes’ drive away, the resort of Newquay some 20 minutes’ drive and some of Cornwall's most popular attractions such as The Eden Project, Lanhydrock House, Truro, St Ives and Boscastle all less than 45 minutes away.
