LITTLE HOF is a small but cute 17th Century Grade II listed blacksmith cottage, built into the side of an ancient slate bank. It has bags of character, some original features, others purposely made to blend in as if original. You enter a fully equipped small kitchen with handcrafted waney wood countertops and rustic open shelving. You get a 2 ring ceramic hob, corner microwave, dishwasher, full oven and undercounter fridge with freezer. A small hot water heater ensures all the hot water you need in the shower room and kitchen. A walk-in downstairs instant hot water electric shower is a must after those long country walks you will be doing. Look out for the mad wooden window sill. A toilet, small hand basin and towel rail complete the downstairs shower room. Natural and soft grey tile colours match with different wooden textures of elm, douglas fir and driftwood. The lounge at the heart of the cottage just oozes cosiness. Cream and green accents give it a country vibe. The painted fireplace (modern electric heater with realistic flame light) and unique handcrafted soft furnishings just completely say Rural chic. The pitched pine and beam ceiling is low (over five foot eight and you will need to duck!) but it really adds to the charm of the place. You get a smart TV which is fantastic for Netflix bingeing if outside is doing its worst. A 2 person squishy sofa, equally ample squishy armchair and matching large wool covered ottoman give you the sitting down ahhhh factor. A small waney wood shelf under the stairs and bar stool, a small handmade wooden bistro table, 2 wooden chairs on local slate floor with a generous rug completes the room set up. There are stairs to the bedroom (10 steps). There is a KINGSIZE bed (separate duvets available by request), chest of drawers & wardrobe space to hang your clothes, with green accents for calmness. Each room has a thermostatically controlled Fischer heating system which you control as you require. Outside is a small courtyard for sundowners & peaceful breakfasts- cushioned rattan/wooden furniture, shade sail, solar lighting and lush ferns.Little HOF is next to the main village road which at times is a little busy but in the evenings/early morning when you need it, it's super quiet.I've been hosting for 10 yrs and really get a kick out of making sure guests have everything they need and try to exceed expectation at every turn. I curate the HOFNORTHEW GALLERY onsite - which showcases local artists' work along side my own wool sculptures. As of 2025 it may be possible to rent the spa area in the garden above Little HOF. Elements of the outside spaces can be used as required and will be charged separately. We currently have a woodfired Japanese Onsen hot tub, an eco Sauna, Toasting Shed, Covered Outside Bar/Hide with a bioethanol fire. Please ask for more information when booking.Northlew is a traditional sleepy Devonshire farming village in the foothills of Dartmoor. The views are spectacular! We are a scenic 10 min drive from Okehampton (with its Waitrose/Lidl/Co-op + restaurants/shops). We have the village pub- The Green Dragon which is super welcoming (closed Mondays) and offers great food. Tania's Tarts -an in house patisserie opens Friday mornings 10-12pm from a kitchen window. There is a 12c Church, a chapel and the obligatory victory hall community centre & if you scratch the surface, you'll find a very warm welcome from the locals.A Full EV charge per night fee applies-(£15) please ask for details at time of booking.Little HOF is a space for a max of 1-2 people.
