The TUI BLUE Isla Cristina Palace is a good hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food was excellent with a large, varied selection. The hotel and rooms are clean. The same goes for the spa area, the pool and the outdoor facilities. If you want to complain here, you can only do so at a very high level. To be honest, I didn't quite understand the hotel's design concept, but that is of course a matter of taste. Nevertheless, Andalusian style meets 90s modernism, I found it semi-successful. But this can also be explained by the fact that this hotel was not always a TUI hotel. After the takeover, they probably modernized a few things here and there, but left the substance as it was. For example, there was a huge "tree" made of white pipes in the foyer. I also found the lime green/anthracite in the carpets too intrusive, as did the too loud music in the elevators. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and nothing is missing. Given the age of the hotel, I would have thought that it would have been a bit more worn, but here everything was within reason. Only the minibar door dragged a bit on the terracotta floor, which was also a bit loose in one place. Otherwise - large bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows. Large balcony, unfortunately with rather uncomfortable chairs and an unsuitable table, which looked a bit lost. There would have been room for two loungers, as well as a small table and chairs. On the balcony itself there was a drying area for towels and swimwear. Chairs and loungers in the beautiful pool area and dining area, on the other hand, were extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a spacious shower cubicle - easily for two. A bathtub and two sinks with a large mirror. Plus a separate toilet and bidet. Only the blue and yellow of the tiles wasn't my thing. Terracotta floor here too. There was a misplanning after all. The large built-in wardrobe in the hallway could only be closed with force and noise and when the left door was opened it always banged against the automatic locking mechanism of the hotel room door and thus did not open completely. Also interesting: The rooms themselves were not very soundproof, I never heard anyone, but when the cleaning staff moved the beds in the next room, you thought they were already in your own room. A bit strange: The pool closed at 8 p.m., but the evening program, which was a bit too loud, could still be heard up to the rooms for quite a long time. The beach is only 200 m away, directly behind the small pine forest. It is big, beautiful and almost deserted. The surroundings were a bit dreary and sometimes quite dirty. Many shops were permanently closed and even in the center, 1 km away, there was little opportunity to shop or experience culture. You don't get very far with English either.
