Sotavento Beach Club

First impression of the complex was great. Beautiful complex but our room less so. The toilet was full of dirt and it was sticky and the whole bathroom stank. The bed was a complete disaster - you get one tiny pillow and a bed that is harder than the tiled floor. Our rubbish wasn't emptied once in 10 days. And the cleaning people come as they please, sometimes every day, then no one for 3 days, then someone for 2 days. And then the toilet seat was broken and you kept sliding back and forth on the toilet.

Nothing like a 4-star hotel, you have to pay extra for the safe, and the same goes for the beach. The food is always the same, canteen food and the fruit have no taste, so the quality is poor in comparison. The young animation team tries hard, but doesn't involve guests enough. Young people are only allowed to take part in activities when they are 18... never experienced that before. Very arrogant atmosphere... we would never recommend Sotavento Beach Club to families with young people! It was a very bad experience

I'll keep the facts brief, most of the reports/photos here describe the complex very well: 2 pools, sports facilities, apartments in 3-storey buildings, nicely laid out on terraces, direct access to the beach. AI is probably not worth it. Good entertainment for children of all ages. On the subject: We have been regulars to Sotavento for many years, our boys have been through the mini/maxi/teen clubs, we have met great people here, made friends, know many of the employees from the regular crew. You could say: regulars, like many here. Over the years, Sotavento has continued to develop, the major renovation of the bar and theatre area and the terrace was a real gain. But now: stagnation, here and there decay - this complex is probably also suffering from a lack of staff. For example, the complex is no longer in the well-maintained condition (gardens, paths, bathrooms) that it once was; There is zero service in the restaurant. New: Order at the entrance, rushed and therefore understandably rather unfriendly service staff clear away in unison. The food was never great but always OK, this year it felt weaker, no longer good enough - the changes from the COVID period (jam dispensers, oil/vinegar, butter packaged) unfortunately remain. Overall, everything seems to be very optimized for all-in / self-service, although AI is hardly worthwhile here - the entire industry/island is probably suffering from all-in, because the range of products on offer outside the facilities is also decreasing. And: The audience has changed; even going out to eat in the evening in slippers/sportswear is a no-go for us, and that used to be the case for many other guests who took the recommendations seriously. It's a shame. Maybe we have simply changed, have become more stuffy, more demanding, still attach importance to appropriate clothing and eating manners. We start to think about it, the price/performance ratio and the overall experience are no longer quite right, the resort could work on the food, service and condition, the resort can't do much for the guests, we'll probably have to avoid package tourists from Germany with an AI mentality ourselves.
