My partner and I booked a 6 night 7 day holiday here. It’s started today. We have already experienced a shed load of disappointment. After booking 3 months in advance, paying nearly €1500 in total to get to the hotel we were given a ground floor room with 0 sea view over looking a children’s play area that provides 0 privacy. The bath was dirty and when we asked to be relocated we were completely fobbed off and effectively told to suck it up. In my booking I explained and gave the hotel notice that this was a very important and special trip as we’re celebrating our 3rd anniversary and my birthday in the same week. Specifically asking for a sea view or upper floor. Instead we get neither. I’m writing this review with the intent that the R2 hotels group write me a formal apology giving at the very least a partial if not full refund. This is unacceptable from a “4 star hotel”

So we went as a group of 4 girls and we had the best time, we ourselves are Northern Irish. The hotel itself looks far better than in the photos we got a hire car from Auto riesen and it was a very easy drive, there was plenty of free parking outside. On arrival there was a welcome drink of cava, we may have had 2 lol. The reception staff were friendly particulay Andrea. The hotel has lovely facilities and has access directly onto a wee beach which again is beautiful. The hotel had a good range of food with reasonable quality. I travelled with a vegan and a vegetarian and they found loads to eat. The hotel I believe is German run and the majority of folks staying are German we felt this added to our trip, everyone was respectful and kept themselves to themselves and the hotel operated with precision.. all wants catered for.. I suppose it depends what you want from a holiday we wanted peace and quiet, plenty to drink and eat with good scenery and we got it. We are booking for next year again. Maybe if you prefer a livelier nightlife it isn't the place for that but for rest and recuperation it is great We forced ourselves to leave the hotel and drove up the mountains to Pajara we had a great day out.. All and all a lovely experience The squirrels at the back of the hotel are great too

We have just arrived at the hotel yesterday. It is predominantly German guests but that’s not a problem. The food so far has been good. Reception staff are lovely and so helpful. The room is lovely and comfortable. We still have more to discover. The reason we only gave a three is the bartender in the pool bar is very abrupt and dismissive, we don’t know if that’s because we are new, or British. There is no drinks menu so we have no idea what to ask for. Every request for our choice of drink has been an abrupt no. We will go and see reception today and see what drinks we can ask for as we have no idea!

If you wanted to criticise the hotel you probably could find a few things to do it for, but to be honest, the hotel ticked all of our boxes. Great location with its own access to the beach, even though a little patch of it, but enough to enjoy the ocean swims. Comfortable big rooms with separate rooms for kids! Having 2 bathrooms made a huge difference! Amazing yummy food. The chefs cater for everyone! The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor terrace. Lunch can also be eaten by the pool from the pool bar buffet. Helpful reception staff that solved all our problems and dealt with issues quickly. Great pools and well looked after gardens! We will definitely come back again!

Ok so good points first , I’ve been around the world and i believe that for hospitality the Spanish do it best .Food was great , all inclusive can be bland but the kitchen staff in this hotel were excellent every meal had something for everyone , and I can’t praise them enough. The location is great, it’s got space and tranquility with sunrises that are so special . You will always see cleaners keeping the hotel clean and tidy. And the staff overall are friendly and accommodating. It’s a big hotel and a huge operation to keep guests happy. The pools and gardens are awesome Bad points , The hotel itself is tired especially the room decor it’s desperately in need of a refurbishment., basically it’s been battered by its popularity. We stayed in a Royal suite so the best rooms with a large balcony. €1400 for 7 nights so not a cheap room . But it really shows it’s scars … you will get bottled water and coffee on your first night and no more which for a 4 * and the price we paid was a little disappointing. Everyone has different opinions on beds and firmness ours was good but found the pillows very thin which made it not so easy to sleep. All in all a good hotel that is trying really hard but it needs updating ASAP.

Booked a Royal Suite 2329 and it was probably the best room we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. The room was huge, balcony was amazing with sun beds a parasol and a full 4 chairs and a table. The room was overlooking the hotel next door with sea panoramic views. The furniture in the room and the decor as well as the rest of the hotel needs some updating, however this did not spoil our stay. For us the food was hit and miss, salads were great and the food was either good, ok or bland but never hot. There was however lots of choice. The hotel is frequented by 90% German visitors so for us as English speaking we did not socialize much. The staff are very friendly and our room was serviced daily. Pools were good and clean although we were shocked to find that the sun beds around the small pool were bolted to the ground and unmovable. But with some strong wind we could see why. Overall a pleasant stay, for us the room made our holiday and we spent a great deal of time sunbathing on our private balcony which was awesome to have. We had two TVs in the room but they had only a few English channels. We however took our own Fire stick, plugged it in to one of the TVs and used it to watch our own content. Overall a lovely stay. But we would not go back because Costa Calma was too quite for us and there was a lack of English speaking visitors.

Our stay was perfect. I am going to write a long review as I feel it is helpful for others considering booking this hotel. We read some previous reviews and was a bit dubious about a few things. However I can’t complain about anything. We was welcomed by a guy who’s name I have forgot apologies but he was really friendly and we had welcome drinks on arrival. Our room was located in a quiet area near the infinity pool, it was spacious enough for 2 adults and a child and the house keeping kept it spotless. The gardens in this hotel are beautifully kept and every morning there were staff members ensuring the place was spotless, I’m an early riser and would watch the sunrise from a sun lounger at the pool, and there was always people cleaning the pools every morning. The views out to see and down towards sottovento beach are stunning! An I’m missing them already! You aren’t supposed to reserve sunbeds but everyone did, but honestly it wasn’t a problem there are plenty an we never struggled to get one so I wouldn’t worry about this, an to be honest I reserved mine quite early but that’s because I wake up early everyday and had a very excited 6 year old! We did all inclusive, Breakfast was my fave meal the guy making the omelettes was so lovely and they were delicious! But all meal times were good. I have a fussy child an she ate well. There’s fresh salad and fruit everyday too. Plenty of drinks stations and options, snack bar near the pool the servers were lovely in there too. We didn’t meet one staff member who wasn’t lovely to us. Not sure if it’s because we made the effort to engage and speak a little Spanish we do know, albeit not very well haha but they all were great. The animation team were so down to earth and fun, my little girl loved Lorenzo! All the entertainment by them was good the mini discos were fun for my daughter. She enjoyed the face painting. We didn’t attend the kids daytime club but mainly because she was having to much fun in the pool. We didn’t go to the entertainment every night mainly because we were so tired, but what we did attend was good. Live music, an all inclusive bar etc what more can you want. As English people we were in the minority south of the island is more German people etc but it wasn’t a issue either, every other person staying there was mostly friendly there was the odd person who seemed a bit rude but whatever leave them to it :-) don’t let this put you off the area because it is stunning! We hired a car via Cicar and parked at the hotel for free and explored three island a bit. The beach 20 mins walk from the hotel sottavento is stunning you must go! 10 mins walk into Costa Calma which is very chilled and quiet but we went to a surf bar for a morning treat that did the best espresso martinis. There’s a little beach 5 mins from the hotel which is also good a bit rocky but still nice, you can feed the chipmunks here too which we loved they weren’t shy! We did the 50 euro bed hire at the h

We stayed at the R2 Pajara early in 2024 and had a wonderful time there. Our stay lasted almost a month which would strain the all in resources of any hotel but the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was up to the job at hand. The room overlooked the small pool used for exercising just before lunch. The enthusiastic encouragement of the staff left a smile on our faces each day. The pool-bar with aa ll day snacks and basic drinks was useful in late afternoon for some post beach and pre-dinner drinks. Yoga on the lawn anyone? It was a bit of a laugh and the aftermath was invigorating. Just down from the hotel is the Esmeralda beach which is a pretty little crescent with the usual facilities; beyond that there is a small beach hut restaurant if you would like a change. Prices reflect the ocean front location but they are still good value. If you walk a little but further in either direction there are larger beaches. The staff at the hotel always seemed to have a ready smile which is a good reflection on the management. Bar staff were excellent at remembering preferred drinks and were witty with it. Bedrooms were light and airy with good balconies well equipped; up close and personnel with the neighbours but they were quiet and respectful. The clientele were a mix of couple of all ages and families, some of whom extended through numerous generations. Life by the pool was generally restful and we never had trouble finding a place to set up. There are many good reviews of the garden areas and these are well deserved. Constant care and attention to detail in the planting combinations indeed leads to a very pleasant experience as you walk through the complex. We felt quite at home in this hotel and perhaps that is the best complement we could pay the staff. Well done and thank you.
