Great Hotel with amazing architecture and good food, but something that make my family sure that we had made a good choice was time that we spend with an amazing animator Marco! Really well-organized and full of passion person, who’s give all his best to make you feel good. Great ideas for exercises and leadership is his strong sides, because of him, for sure we will come back to Hotel Rio Calma. I wish to meet people like Marco in every hotel I go to…

Where to begin, I have so many great things to say about this hotel! I and my fiance had such a great experience staying at this hotel! It was beautiful inside and out! The pools although a little chilly at first, are a nice cooling break from the sun! One is heated and there's a kids pool also! We were all inclusive and there was many things to choose from(drinks and food) There's the buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and tea(dinner) and we could not get over how big the area was. So much yummy food to try! There's lots of food involving fish which I like, my fiance not so much but there was so much more to choose from, such as: every pasta you could think of, beef stew, salads, deli meats/olives etc and many other hot foods that I can't remember off the top of my head. We alot went to the restaurant which resembled a botanic garden! The food, wine and the waiter were incredible! The room was fantastic and clean with a view of the pools, hotel and sea! Everytime we came back to the room the room was immaculate, everything folded and even our beach towels had been folded into different shapes which made us smile! I don't have words to describe how much we loved conversing with the staff! They were so warm and welcoming and we had many laughs with them! Although the area is quiet, there's alot of different tours you can go on! We went on the pirate ship and glass bottom boat which is just a trip on the bus to the harbour. The wild north tour you can see the volcano, popcorn beach, sand dunes and many other things and the oasis wildlife centre which we got to experience alot of different new things like feeding giraffes and camels and seeing hippos for the first time. We will definitely be back in the future! Thank you for the great stay, we miss it already!

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days begin April this year. It’s a great hotel with lots, really lots of space.
The garden is immense and the room we had was like an apar**ent. (We took the junior suite). The view in the room was fantastic and we had a great terrace to enjoy it. The bathroom was so big it took like 1/3 of the entire roomspace. Great food in the main restaurant which was crowded, but we never had the feeling it was too much. We really loved the outside space to eat. One of the swimming pools outside is heated, so we had the pleasure of swimming in open air. We even had a foam party one day with dj and lots of fun! One thing we did not like and which management should consider of changing: the wifi is not for free. In this time wifi should be free of charge in every hotel. So think about it and make it even better.

I'm not sure where to begin with this so-called hotel, but I'll be as direct as possible. Having traveled extensively, I've never felt compelled to leave a review until now. The food is subpar, with limited options and zero flavor. I spent more time hunting for something edible than actually enjoying meals. The all-inclusive package is a major disappoin**ent, offering little value and imposing strict limitations on when and what you can consume. Even basic amenities like Wi-Fi come at an extra cost. The pool is frigid, and they have the audacity to charge €15 per hour for the jacuzzi. The entertainment is dismal, driving guests away in mere minutes. Alcoholic beverages are watered down, if present at all. Moreover, the promotional photos bear no resemblance to reality. My advice: steer clear of this money-grabbing establishment. They prioritize profit over guest satisfaction at every turn.

The hotel was quite mediocre. The room we stayed in was nice and clean. The fridge was terrible. It was not cold at all and it smelt like there was a dead mouse possibly behind it. The patio door did not lock at all. The restaurant was ok. The food was the same every day. The waiters all were working really hard for probably little appreciation. There was one particular barman in the Lobby Bar called Gordano who was miserable the whole time. Really put me off going to that particular bar as he was really rude. He really needs some customer service skills drilled into him. Everyone else was actually really lovely. I would recommend the hotel as it is in a quiet area, but also I would not recommend this hotel as it seems to really hone in on catering for Germans. So it can be quite uncomfortable as they seem to have some sort of privilege over anyone else. You should cater for everyone.

We went as a group of three friends for a few days in the sun. On arrival the hotel lobby is large and impressive looking, and the hotel is very clean and the rooms were also clean and beds comfortable enough. The pool is really nice but there aren’t enough sun loungers for the amount of guests and the sun loungers are always claimed at first light with belongings so no chance of a decent bed after 8.30am. The food was bad, I mean really really bad. A canteen style set up which on first impression seems plentiful, but the options are painfully dire. We were only there for 4 nights thankfully but after a day soaking up the sun it was a heart sinking feeling to head for dinner, knowing what was in store for us at the restaurant. We ventured out to Costa Calma but it is totally run down and nothing there, lots closed and nothing to do at all. We found a decent pizza place called Aperipizza on our last day and it tasted like the best meal I have ever had, because it was fresh and hot and had flavour-all the things missing from food at the hotel. Some of the staff were quite miserable and honestly the guests didn’t look that happy either. We were in the hotel lobby bar one evening and likened it to a ‘purgatory vibe’- everyone just sitting there waiting for something to happen and nothing ever did. Not somewhere I will ever return. When people ask about my trip I say ‘great company, amazing weather, poor hotel and bad food’

The architecture and cleanliness of the hotel is great, on first approach we were really pleased. Our sea view left a lot to be desired but the bedroom itself was perfect. The pool is fabulous but the sun bathing space with loungers is crowded and there aren't enough chairs for the size of the hotel. The location is isolated with nothing much around, a few restaurants but no great walks etc. The food is probably the worst we have ever had on a holiday and the drinks are watered down. Nobody smiles at this hotel, one of the waiters at the pool bar virtually growls at you, even the guests are a bit miserable. We witnessed a proper fight over sun loungers on our last day with a guest being thrown into the pool, not pleasant to watch with children around. The entertainments are poor and the crazy golf is closed, can't see it opening up as it's in a huge state of disrepair. We wouldn't go back, that's for sure

Just returned from a week at this hotel. It is a clean and well designed hotel. The staff were amazing and always helpful and polite. The restaurant was well managed and the food was of a good standard. The waiters were very attentive as were the chefs and the service was excellent. My room was cleaned daily and the bed was comfortable. Maybe investing in some new pillows is my only criticism. I didnt have any problems getting a sunbed by the pool. The hotel is not close to the local shops and it certainly takes longer to walk to them than it states on the information. However I would definitely stay at this hotel again .
