SBH Monica Beach Resort

Horrendous stay. I had booked 4 nights in a standard room with my son Feb half term. On arrival the very rude reception staff said they were fully booked so I couldn't have the standard room I had booked and placed us in a horrible, damp overflow block which hadn't been upgraded with the rest of the hotel. It was grim. Damp and rust everywhere, holes in the bath, dated bathroom/old damaged kitchenette, exposed wires, damp swollen doors & furniture, old beds and mattresses & bedding, no ventilation & condensation dripping down the walls. Stank of damp & really dark. Spent the next 2 days and nights battling staff and manager for the room I had booked and receiving a hostile, rude, unsympathetic and unhelpful response from staff on reception. After 2 days we were moved to the room I had booked. The hotel refused to refund my first 2 nights and offered free drinks for 1 meal (we were all inclusive!) And use of other local resorts (I had 1.5 days left and they were non-child friendly resorts!). My tour company have spent weeks trying to get compensation from the hotel who have not responded. As per the review earlier in 2025, about a horrible damp room and rude reception staff, AVOID THIS HOTEL, CERTAINLY AT PEAK TIMES OR RISK BEING DUMPED IN THE DAMP OLD OVERFLOW ACCOMMODATION BLOCK.

Unfortunately not a great experience and the last day was the worst. The late checkout was not available, we were promised to have access to one of the rooms to take a shower in the afternoon. However, our slot was given to someone else. When we finally got to the room (no 514) , there was no towels (despite receptionist rudely arguing that towels were there) . Room was absolutely disgusting ( see pictures attached). Mould on walls, lights full of water hanging off the ceiling. Bad smell and bugs on the floor! Other than that hotel was overcrowded. Reception staff would only pay attention and take time to talk to the German guests. Not enough staff! One receptionist for over 800 guests! Dinning area loud and constantly crowded. Food cold. Sun loungers cheep and not comfortable. Life guard too busy collecting plastic cups and cleaning broken glass at the pool instead of keeping eye on the pool.

Given some of the reviews we were a little anxious, and can safely say it exceeded our expectation. As a 4 star, it is great value. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Our room was great and housekeeping super quick with additional requests. We asked for extra pillows and hangers and they were brought immediately. Whilst the pool are can be a little cramped, there's a nice roof terrace over the pool bar. There was no mad rush of early towels down too. Food was great. Very varied each day and something for everyone. Food items replenished quickly and clean and fresh too. All staff were delightful and eager to please. For a good value fly and flop in the sunshine this was ideal. We would definitely go back.

We are currently on our last day of our week away and it's been fantastic. We will be returning for sure. I have written a lengthy review so hopefully i capture everything. The only part I cant comment on is the children's entertainment but from what I could see theres was lots going on and kids seemed to be happy. From the moment we arrived we knew those negative reviews were nothing for us to worry about. We arrived and received a warm welcome, everything was explained to us clearly, reception staff were great and non stop. Our room is 95 and to be honest its perfect as you are just off to the side of the pool but not to close if you want a quiet evening on your balcony or early sleep, you just a few minutes from the restaurant too. I paid for the sea view, there are other blocks apartment closer to the beach/sea but ours suits us. Rooms are a good size same as the balcony. They are lovely and clean, house keeping has come every day they are amazing, thank you. House keeping are continuously cleaning around the hotel too as well as maintenance staff on hand. The restaurant is great there is something for everyone, lots of choices. The Chef and the rest of the kitchen staff... food was spot on. The restaurant staff are so efficient they dont stop! And always smiling. You can help a bit by taking your finished plates to the bin stations but if you dont they just come and scoop it up and reset the table. Tonight we are booked in the Asian food restaurant so we are looking forward to that. Out and about Almost everything below is within 10 mins walking/strolling. No need for taxi, everything is accessible. The beach is fantastic, you can stop off at the hotels African Bar before stepping on to the sand or just stay there the bar staff just make you smile.... There is a beach bar down on the beach separate to the hotel which serves food as well as drinks, we ate there a couple of times. Walks/evening You can walk down to the African bar and turn right on to what looks like a lane with apartments facing out on to, walk to the top turn left and walk straight across, you will find yourself in an area with some shops restaurants, Spar and also a pharmacy. If you fancy a meal out go to Mama Mia they serve the most amazing steak. You can return the same way or walk back the same way but exist out on to the road by the fountain and walk the main road. Either way is just as good. If you walk out of the hotels main entrance turn left and walk up the road a few minutes you will see a sign pounting towards the right saying shopping centre follow that your upon a shopping centre and a few restaurants. African Market We went Sunday I cant remember the other day.. Head straight out of the hotel, cross the roads into the wooded area, walk through that (lots of actual paths within) cross another road and then through another small tree area and the market is down on your right next to the Police station. Theres a pharmacy shop and medical centre

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot thank the team at SBH Monica Beach Hotel enough for making my stay absolutely unforgettable! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful facilities and a perfect location, but it was the incredible staff who truly made my experience special. A special shout-out to the beach bar attendants who served with such friendliness and enthusiasm, and the front desk team who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for my stay. Your kindness and attention to detail did not go unnoticed! I will be returning to this little slice of paradise very soon. Thank you for creating such a wonderful and memorable experience. Highly recommended!

My experience was generally positive. The food was decent, with some meals being better than others. The room size was good, and it was clean. However, I found the bar opening hours to be late, starting at 10:30 AM. Additionally, the all-inclusive service ends at 11:00 PM, requiring guests to pay for drinks thereafter.
