The room was OK. We appreciated the safe and the fridge, and the walk-in shower (no bath, sadly). Being on the ground floor afforded us an AstroTurf patio with two private sunbeds and parasol, which were very handy. Other ground floor rooms had private plunge pools too! Unfortunately, whilst the room looked recently decorated, it also looked like it had been done cheaply and in a hurry: our wardrobe was chipped where a screw was poking out, and the doorframe to the bathroom had been glued on back to front. Our toilet also continually dripped. None of these were dealbreakers, just snags you'd get in a 3-star hotel as opposed to a 4. The food was good but not exceptional. Evening meals are themed (e.g. Italian, Mexican, Asia, Spanish) are there was a decent amount of choice. Perhaps a little too salty and grisly at time but overall not bad. The allergy labels are effectively pointless as most dishes are labelled as containing nuts when in reality they're only 'may contain'. Had my partner and I both heeded these warnings rigidly, we'd basically have lived off aubergines and watermelon the entire trip. We're fortunate that we can do taste tests and, thankfully, neither of us experienced any reactions at all. Breakfast was better, with a choice of continental meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, pastries, donuts, churros, bacon, sausage, a made-to-order Spanish omelette station and more. The public spaces are spacious and clean. The pool is fine; missing the occasional tile but not dangerous and - for once - not overly chlorine-d. It's unlikely you'll need to get up at 6am to secure a sunbed BUT you might want to secure a parasol if you're not in a ground floor room as there's a severe lack of them around the pool area. I suspect many of them had been broken in the gusty winds that blew through almost every day whilst we were there (apparently Fuerteventura is known for being windy?). Evening entertainment ranged from the bizarre (an Avatar-themed gymnastics show complete with inflatable whale puppet the audience has to stroke) to the genuinely impressive (the dances of the world show and the 3-piece band being our favourites). Special shout out to 'Mr Sax' who put on an impressive hour long afternoon set around by the pool once a week, followed by a show in the evening. All good fun, and we appreciated that this wasn't the only pool-side entertainment; two afternoons there was a DJ mixing chilled house by the pool. However, the best entertainment (and significantly tastier drinks) can be found at the nearby Rapa Nui surf bar, a 10 minute walk away (it's 100% worth a stop). The staff were all lovely and very welcoming. A word on the location. Costa Calma is pretty quiet as far as resorts go. There's a few restaurants and bars, a couple of small shopping arcades selling touristy things, and several supermarkets. We found the one nearest the hotel (HyperDino) the best stocked and slightly cheaper than the nearby Spar. Beach-goers will appreciate th

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice in 2024, and while my first visit earlier in the year was enjoyable, my most recent stay from 11th to 14th July was a real letdown. It’s clear the hotel is now under new management, and cost-cutting measures are being felt throughout – staff even mentioned it directly. Last year, there was a fantastic selection of cocktails. This time, only three were available – all basic options that wouldn’t have felt out of place in a budget hotel in the early 2000s. It’s 2025, and guests expect better. A new “All Inclusive Plus” option has been introduced, which wasn’t mentioned when we booked. It seems like a way to charge more for what used to be included – basic drinks and services that are now locked behind a paywall. Food quality has also dropped significantly. In 2023, you could expect around a 60% variation between sittings – this time, it was closer to 90% the same food every day. Meats were of poor quality – I had beef twice and both times the fat outweighed the actual meat. On top of that, I had to spit out tomatoes on two separate occasions because they were clearly off. Not acceptable. The “aqua gym guy” has been praised in other reviews, but our experience was quite the opposite. We were jolted awake from a nap in our room by someone shouting aggressively. For a moment we thought there was a serious incident – turns out it was just the aqua gym guy yelling like a rejected Navy SEAL drill sergeant. Completely unnecessary and unpleasant. We paid extra for a swim-up room which was advertised as heated. It wasn’t. Staff explained it had only been cold on previous visits due to being “out of season” – but now, mid-July, it was still freezing. No explanation given. The pool bar had items listed on the menu that hadn’t been in stock for over a month – we were told this openly. We don’t drink alcohol, and the non-alcoholic options were awful: sugary fizzy drinks, two frankly terrible cocktails, or juice that tasted more like acid than fruit. Again, this isn’t 1995 – expectations in 2025 are a lot higher. In the end, we started buying our own drinks from the local shop just to have something decent. Sadly, we won’t be returning. The cost-cutting measures may help the bottom line, but they’ve ruined the guest experience. Forgot to mentioned the freshly fried eggs, photo attached. Also forgot that we turned the shower on and no hot water, waited five minutes and my wife phoned reception to see what the issue was and the lady instantly told her sometimes you have to wait 15 minutes, just leave it running… what’s all that about?? Must be a common occurrence.

The best thing about the hotel is Daniel, the yoga instructor. He offers a range of activities and entertainment every day of the week apart from Monday & Tuesday. Entertainment such as water aerobics, yoga and even bachata lessons! He’s so fun and approachable. Offers competitions to win cool prizes and has an amazing six pack so easy on the eye ladies haha! I would say as a standard the hotel is nice, lacks food options because it’s pretty much the same for lunch and dinner. Expected tapas or other options. But on the hold never went hungry. Daniel you’re the reason I’d come back.

The hotel location and cleanliness are good. The suite rooms need sun loungers to make the most of the extra space on the balcony and all rooms need a clothes dryer to hang wet swim wear and towels. The breakfast was ok but the evening meals were disappointing. Restaurant staff acted like they would rather be somewhere else and couldn't wait to get you out so they could close the doors. They were more interested in getting their share for themselves. What little was left of the food was being packed away long before the end of service to the point where we were asking for it to be returned! Most people had All Inclusive but we opted for half board. This sometimes seemed to be problematic for the restaurant staff who would ask us if we wanted a drink and then tell us to go into the bar and get it ourselves. (why ask?) Hence leaving our food to go cold and having to queue with the All Inclusive guests for our turn at the bar. We enquired at reception about this confusion who advised it depended what drink we wanted and best to go get them from the bar first before taking them into the restaurant. Fine so long as you don't want more than one drink with your meal. The pool area is pleasant enough but loud music most of the time spoilt what could be a relaxing atmosphere. This place is an average 3 star hotel at best.

What a little treasure this hotel is, we had a swim up room which was delightful, however the pool area was fantastic too, never a rush for beds they were available all day, the food was amazing, sometimes food was not what it was labelled as for example for mackerel was tuna! Such a chilled vibe, we were serenaded a couple of afternoons with a singer and a sax player. Place is spotless and staff work very hard to make it a pleasurable experience. We will definitely be coming again (although we can’t find it advertised with Jet 2). Weather was beautiful, nothing much around the hotel just a supermarket out the front and a spar on the way to the beach out of the back. The beach was lovely 9 mins walk, we dipped our toes in but to be honest we chilled in our lovely little swim up pool. AI drinks were fine all in all loved it. Two things to improve a mirror in the apartment -only one in the bathroom and lots more umbrellas around the pool.

We stayed at this hotel recently for a couples trip. Good points: - nice staff: Dagmar on reception was helpful, restaurant and bar staff were efficient - hotel is very clean throughout - quiet at night so we slept well - good sized room (swim up) - pool was nice and warm and there were plenty sunbeds - Costa calma has some gorgeous beaches and walks, it’s a lovely area Bad points: - food was poor, not much choice (I expect this as a vegan at a buffet …. but this was the worst I’ve had). My husband said all meat was very overcooked, no variation day to day. The soup had no stock in it. It’s mostly German clientele so I think the food is more geared towards their requirements, however even then, it was the same food every meal. - the room lacked a few basics I’d expect - there was no full length mirror, only a face mirror in the bathroom - shower tray is flat so shower kept flooding the room
