We stayed here for 7 days recently (30th June to 7th July and I don't get why it gets rave reviews. First off, the good - the staff are outstanding, from front of house to the cleaners, everyone is so polite and attentive. This was the standout for me, really top notch. The hotel location and setting is really nice too. Just about the right distance from the main area with a nice beach and costal walk into the town. That's where the main positives end. For us, a family of 4, two adults and two children it just wasn’t a great fit. It's definitely more suited towards an older audience. The hotel, to me at least, feels dated in some areas. The rooms were clean but needs modernising in the corridors, we were on level 4 and it felt dark and dated. Our Room was in a dark area, and it always felt like it was night time leaving the room with no natural light. The most frustrating thing about this place is the hidden costs. Water is free in the morning but in the evening its nearly 4 euro? why? completely mad. Makes no sense. Water should be free all the time, not just in the morning. Food and drinks outside of Breakfast and Dinner were overpriced and in the end, we avoided drinks in the evening completely. The food itself was ok, nothing amazing. No better than a 4 star we stayed at last year. The two à la carte restaurants had nice food however. We paid for a room view ‘upgrade’ for the one room but it barely any different to the standard room, maybe an extra 0.5m of sea/beach view. The main view consisted of a rocky flood relief channel to the sea and a horrible red coloured hotel opposite. I complained and met with the manager only to be told they were full and there was nothing they could do about it (fair enough) The shower in the one room leaked onto the floor however to the hotels credit, when I mentioned this it was fixed within 30 minutes which again speaks volumes to the staff and their care towards guests. On the 5th night there was a free bus (and free drinks, including water, hurrah) to their sister hotel further north, upon arriving here we realised we had booked the wrong hotel. The other hotel felt more modern and had a much nicer vibe. This hotel is defiantly more suited to the older clientele (55+) They state there is a no reserve policy on the sunbeds, but this was never carried out, 95% of the beds were towled up by 9am so it was nearly impossible to get 4 beds together without slumping to everyone else’s levels of rushing out to reserve them before 8am. Furthermore, there was a definite anti English vibe at this hotel. A lot of starring at us from other guests and it made us feel quite uncomfortable for most of the time. We are a quiet family and weren’t loud or intrusive to others, yet we were constantly starred at by others. The entertainment was average at best and cringe at worse, again it was definitely more suited to an older audience. Did I enjoy our stay here? Yes, but I wouldn’t go back. There’s no way this is a 5-s
