I enjoyed a lovely stay at Chatterley House - A stunning space to relax and reset along my journey. Jackie was a fabulous host, very friendly and accommodating. My room was exceptionally comfortable, cosy, and met all of my expectations and more. I can highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a homey place to check in to along their travels. Many thanks to the Chatterly House Team.

This was our second time staying and unfortunately our last. As past reviews have mentioned, the place is in a slow decline. Dirty bathroom and room, breakfast is just the bare basics. but frustratingly - which summed up our overall stay - did not get a pleasant experience from the staff - the “manager” clearly did not value customers staying, and lacked customer skills needed. Such a shame as it had potential. Would avoid and recommend paying a small premium to stay at the Doubletree Hilton nearby instead.

Ideal overnight stop. Spotlessly clean room, good shower, comfy bed. Breakfast is DIY, everything there - had boiled eggs, toast, orange juice, croissant & tea. Big gym ( didn't use though!) and outside seating under cover, which is a nice touch. Great value, would use again.

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The room had a funny smell to it. The walls were covered in greasy marks. Stains on the quilt cover.Grouting in bathroom had black mould on it. The walls was so very thin, you could hear what was going on in each other's rooms. It was like sleeping underneath a herd of Elephants, from people walking around above you. Every time someone walks up and down the passage way the light comes on,which shines through the gaps in the door. The bed was so uncomfortable and lumpy. So I didn't get any sleep all night.

Needed an overnight stop for a nearby business trip. Found this via a third party site and it was very reasonably priced. It ticked my boxes and looked good, so thought I would give it a try. Found the premises ok from the road, but it is set back and I nearly drove past. I was met as I checked in and shown to my room where everything was explained to me. The room was clean and warm (it was cold out), also nicely decorated and felt very homely. The bathroom was clean and also modern. The wifi was good enough to stream and the well equipped fitness room was used by myself. The bed was comfy and I had a good nights sleep. The self service breakfast room was well equipped with hot drinks, juice, bread, cereal and eggs. The only negatives from my stay are ther thin walls, meaning I could hear my neighbour on his phone throughout the evening (but no noise overnight) and my bathroom light was motion activated, plunging me into darkness whilst in the shower. It was only the next morning when I saw the vanity light above the bathroom sink! All in all a really good stay and I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

The staff were friendly, I rang to let them know our expected time and they were nice. The room was quite small but very clean, as was the bathroom - a tight squeeze but very clean with free toiletries but no bath mat? The bed when you sat down gave me a bit of a fright, you could feel the baseboard through the mattress and the pillows were very hard but having said that both my husband and I had a good nights sleep! The DIY Breakfast room was a new idea to us. Everything was there, boxes of cereal, toast making facilities, eggs, microwave, assorted rolls, butter, jams, tea and coffee all easily to hand but the room was rather sterile with no windows but a big TV. Parking was free and right outside. The blurb had said Garden Views so I had requested a "Quiet Room" we ended up overlooking the car park, not what I was expecting but luckily it was quiet so we were not disturbed! Price wise - cannot complain at all - would I recommend people, not too sure?

Room 1. Avoid at all costs. Where do I start! The worst night sleep we have ever had…the mattress in the double bed was soft, lumpy, and with hard edges, The radiator didn’t work, and the small radiator that was supplied was useless. Looking at a previous review from last month, they clearly had the radiator problem reported, but not fixed. Hardly any storage, with little room around the sides of the bed. No hooks to hang coats etc on the back of the door. No bin in the bedroom, no chair either. Bathroom very small with shower, and not much room for putting your stuff out. Noisy fan, that came on the moment the bathroom door opened, and no control of the bathroom light. We heard every movement from the people upstairs, and when they walked across the floor in the morning it turned our kettle on….very spooky! A room this size is clearly meant to be for a single bed…how they can sell it as a double I just don’t know.

Okayish, but unlikely to return , and definitely not in winter. Clearly targeted at B&B Upsides Clean rooms Good en-suite Gym facilities Pleasant host Downsides - room was cold - ok if out all day., however there is a small electric radiator that can be used - excessive use of light sensors with very short time settings - not even time to use loo, before switches off - no place to sit and relax, only lay on bed or sit on upright chair in breakfast room - very limited hanging space - no room for a suitcase
