When we arrived we received a lovely warm welcome. Our room was nice but very outdated. The bed was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but had everything in we needed. The towels were nice and clean. All the staff were very friendly and professional. We ate in the pub both nights and the food was very nice and tasty. The breakfast was amazing the most tasty sausage and bacon it was absolutely delicious.

Booked the Bay Horse Inn through a red letter day voucher for a 2 night relaxing country break. Checked in Friday and all was good, very dated but that was expected. Saturday night we were told there was a singer on and the pub would be very busy. Not a problem it was nice for some entertainment. The pub was due to close at midnight according to the website so expected the music to be off around then. After the singer finished the bar turned into a full blown rave, if I’d wanted to stay in a nightclub I would have booked into a hotel in Newcastle not a quiet little village, Around 01:50 I rang down stairs to tell them to turn it off to be spoken to absolutely appallingly and that he didn’t f*in care they had locals in. The music went off for a short time but then came back louder than ever. At 02:50 I found a number for the owner of the B n B and rang them and told them to get it sorted as now was there not only blaring music at almost 3am they were fighting and banging (or what we thought was fighting by the screams). If we both hadn’t of had a drink we’d have upped and left in the night. So much for our quiet weekend away. Expected to check out at 10am after no sleep and breakfast only served between 8-9 absolute joke. The emergency number in the room is also not available when tried to ring to sort the issue out. When I have complained to the owners this morning I was told it was unfortunate I came on a weekend when the locals had an event on and when he called the pub he couldn’t hear any noise so basically called me a liar. When I asked for a refund for last night I was told I booked through a third party and they get hardly any money from it so it was tough. We forfeited breakfast as just needed to get out of there. We had also spent around £200 on food and drink in the two days we stayed here so they’d had plenty of money out of us. Cleanliness - average Food - average on a very small menu Waitress/waiter - probably the best part of the stay very polite Would I visit again a big fat NO Would I recommend to friends and family and anyone reading this NO

Written as a lunch food review: Massively expensive for a truly simple lunch!!!! A soup, a simple (I mean really plain) cheese & ham toastie, a plain (I mean absolutely plain) tuna baguette, a diet coke, 2 x J2O and a Knickerbocker glory came to £48!! NOT a good lunch for the price, very disappointed as I read reviews before we attended and thought we were onto a winner but it was a looser by miles.

We stayed in room 6, clean comftable and spacious. Food was lovely and breakfast was amazing all the staff were very friendly. Only downside this is not in Hexham that was about a twenty minute drive away. Would definitely stay there again xx

Staying in a nearby holiday cottage, we took a wander to the closest pub for a nice afternoon pub lunch. We walked through the door to be (un)welcomed by someone’s extremely unpleasant great grandmother behind the bar. When we asked if they were serving food, we were sharpishly told “YOU’LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT!” Her sharp tongue, disgusting attitude and lack of manners were the quickest part about her. Maybe she was just having a bad day, maybe her blue rinse didn’t take too well. Perhaps she didn’t collect her pension from the post office in time yesterday since the local post office closes at 1pm. Who knows. We left after waiting for more than 20 minutes still with no service, mostly before we were told to fluff off, or something to that note. The only highlight to take away from this is that this is not my local because that would be more than depressing.

We stayed for a weekend after having stayed there for new year. We were warmly welcomed then shown to our superior room. The room was very spacious with a large bed , a comfortable 2 seater settee with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom was massive too. The beers are well kept and a good selection. The food is well cooked and very tasty. The breakfast is well stocked with juices and cereals. The Northumbrian cooked breakfast is a must. The staff are always pleasant and very attentitive. It seems nothing is too much trouble.we look forward to our next visit very soon.

Myself and my partner stayed in The Bay Horse Inn as we were attending a wedding in the area. The welcome was very warm and friendly and the rooms were clean and tidy. Bit outdated but very traditional. Breakfast was delicious and evening menu also looked good even though we didn't eat. Good selection of beers on the bar. If we were in the area again wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
