Safestay Cordoba Mezquita Catedral

No trace of our reservation upon arrival, even though we received confirmation by email. We booked 3 deluxe double rooms directly on the hotel's website. We had 2 rooms for 6 people, including 1 for 4 people.

Cozy and beautifully decorated riad hotel, a little away from the tourist center. It is open 24/7 and there is always someone to help you at the reception. The street is very quiet and there are few places to eat nearby. The hotel has a small garage (12 euros per day) and there is a municipal garage a 10-minute walk away (16.50€/day). Traffic in Córdoba is very difficult and access to the hotel is complicated by car. It is wiser to leave your car in the public parking lot and finish the journey on foot.

The hotel's reality is very different from what appears in the photos. Our small, tiny room smelled of damp and sewage. It was very dark, as it overlooked an interior courtyard, with a window overlooking the hallway, so you couldn't open it if you didn't want to be seen sleeping... We're not very particular when it comes to finding a hotel/hostel when I travel; I just look for a clean place, in good condition, and a comfortable bed, quite the opposite of what we found here... a bed with springs digging into you, a pillow thinner than a sheet of paper, and sheets and bedspread smelling damp and riddled with holes from cigarette burns. The cleanliness "isn't bad," but the smell of damp is unbearable. And that's not the bad thing; the bad thing was that my partner, being asthmatic, told the manager at reception that she was choking from the dampness. He told me how come there's damp when it never rains in Córdoba... excuse me!!!!????? I thought he was making fun of me... literally. (I'm attaching photos of the dampness) They offer more than they actually give. They gave us the worst room even though the reservation had been made for a while. The best part was when the Latina at reception told us that room was reserved for a single person or if the hotel was full, in extreme conditions they would put it... That room can't even be used as a storage room! Room number 24... I'm attaching photos of everything. Their solution was to offer us another room for €40 more, when it was their own fault... of course I wasn't going to spend a euro more in that place... We arrived at the room at 2 in the morning and saw the door open! The guy with Arab features at reception told us that to get rid of the damp smell (a smell that this guy could at least smell...) they installed an ozone machine and left everything open to air out... imagine my partner's and my face when we arrived at 2 in the morning and saw the door of the room open with all our things, and anyone who passed by could take whatever they wanted! I certainly wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy... They're so shameless about not providing coherent solutions, and if they can't provide a solution, they should refund the money! Shameful, so I'll never go back.
