All the reviews of this lodge are accurate. It is a special place with special views. We were here for one night during the rainy season. There was a fire laid in the chimney which would have been welcome at night when it was cool but the hotel was unable to provide matches! There was an empty box by the fireplace… A few quibbles: Be aware the access road is in terrible condition and the alternative route is only practicable in a 4x4 There is limited hot water. What there is in the shower is serviced by a mini electric heater with exposed wiring that would not pass muster in the US or EU. There were no bedside or reading lights in our cabin The tin roofs resound with falling rain drops. All i can say is i could not sleep because it sounded as if someone was tapping the roof all night The lodge is a shade more expensive than most. The restaurant is trily outstanding indeed we had trout in an orange sauce which was Michelin* quality but the price of a meal without wine was £60 or $75 per head which is London prices or more.

Fantastic place. Stayed there as part of a tour bird and wildlife spotting. Walks in forests from the lodges. Lodges were lovely and food was best we had in Costa Rica. Staff super. Wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend. Off the beaten track.

We stayed in a wooden lodge on the hillside overlooking the main reception/dining room and the valley beyond. Totally dark and silent at night apart from a little wildlife noise. We were taken on a walk through the forest and finished off at a coffee plantation. As we returned to the lodge there was a magnificent display of fireflies. We stayed in Costa Rica for 2 weeks and the evening meal we had at Cedrela Eco Lodge was the best of the holiday. Very early the next morning we were taken to seek out the elusive Quetzal and were fortunate to spot a male sitting near to his nest. Magnificent. Back at the Lodge the breakfast was almost as magnificent, an interesting take on porridge with fruit and seeds followed by eggs. An idyllic place to visit.

We loved our stay at Cedrela Eco-Lodge! A small lodge with a few cabins on an avocado and coffee plantation. The surroundings are beautiful! We had the family bungalow and it was perfect for our family of 4; two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a great balcony and a fire place!!! It was definitely welcomed as it gets pretty chilly at night! We were offered some hot water bottles (so nice and appreciated!) and we slept very well. Plenty of warm blankets. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant onsite offers great local food at a reasonable price. The included breakfast was very tasty. There is a hike on the propriety which takes you through primary forest, coffee and avocado plantation. We loved it! We highly recommend Cedrela Eco-Lodge, but don't forget to bring some warm clothes! We stayed for one night and wished we stayed longer...

The Cedrela Ecolodge was a VERY special and memorable part of our visit to Costa Rica (and probably the best food we had on the entire trip!) We visited in early December 2022 and had fantastic weather, a little chilly so a bit of a reprieve from the 30+ Celsius weather throughout the rest of the areas we visited. Being in the cloud forest was so special - watching the clouds drift through the valleys, then sometimes clearing up to get amazing views. We spent 2 nights at the lodge and enjoyed their on-site hiking trails and the Quetzal tour they arranged for us! It’s also in a great place to access the Cataract Rio Savegre hike in the Quetzal national park area. The area is definitely off the beaten path, which we loved. It was SO quiet and such a nice escape from some of the busier touristy areas. We loved listening to the coyotes howling at night and seeing all kinds of hummingbirds and other animals. We were happy to have a 4x4 vehicle although it probably wasn’t necessary. The cabins are comfortable and have everything you need for a cozy visit. I would highly recommend staying here!

Stayed here on a trip with KE Adventure Travel, there were a group of 15 and all of us agreed the food was the best we had in our whole trip. The accommodation was good and we did the 3km trail from the lodge which took us through the forest and across the avocado and coffee plantations. All of the staff were very friendly and most spoke perfect English, would highly recommend if you are in this area

Beautiful setting, an excellent in house restaurant with food prepared from locally sourced ingredients and a very attentive staff. The views from the cabin were spectacular. Plenty of flora and fauna and a trail in the facility. We did a guided birding tour (Oscar Flores, Recommended), and visited Coopedota coffee production facility. San Gerardo de Dota is about an hours drive. Santa Maria is about 15 minutes away and had the nearest gas station and supermarket. The drive to this location was actually less stressful from Hwy 2 than the drive to Savegre at San Gerardo, but the latter does have more facilities geared towards the tourist. Having said that, the cozier and intimate setting of Cedrela Eco lodge was clearly our preference.

It is not worth traveling from San José to visit Copey to stay at Cedrela, the restaurant I think there are better in San José. The service actually leaves a lot to be desired. We do not recommend it. There are better places in Copey, the area if too beautiful.
