NH Collection Copenhagen

Christianshavn Copenhagen|0.74km from The King's New Square
We were first drawn to this new hotel in the center of Copenhagen from internet research. Impeccably presented with beautiful interior design, this relatively new 5 star property is located on the water and well positioned to allow for exploration of the city. Suited to tourists as well as business guests the hotel offers well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, excellent towels & robes and attentive service in all departments. Please note, if outlooks and positioning within the hotel are of importance to you I would highly suggest contacting the hotel to get advise on room selection. We booked a Premium category room but made a poor selection based on the limited explanations on the hotel website and ended up on the ground floor facing an office building with parked vans, workers taking smoking breaks and a complete lack of privacy. The premium room category provides ample space with 53M squared but the descriptor does not state this room is a low floor room without a view. You need to book the room 'with a view'. I honestly don't recall that being offered from the list of available rooms when I booked so its quite possible the 'view' category had sold out. In any case, only certain rooms will offer views of the river so it is best to coordinate with the hotel if you have any questions. We stayed one night in our original room but the situation was not ideal - a combination of our poor selection and lack of detailed info on the hotel website. Mehmet Ali, one of the managers was most accommodating and assisted in moving us for our 2nd and 3rd nights to a room offering a spectacular view. We are very grateful for the kind and generous upgrade as this certainly was not our focus in trying to change our accommodations. Mr. Ali is dedicated in his role and wanted to ensure we had a good experience at the NH Collection Copenhagen. He personally saw to it that we were comfortable and indeed we were. Breakfast at the hotel is what one would expect from a fine hotel and the content of the buffet and overall service was a great way to start the day. We did not use the fitness facility but did enjoy the hotel bar where cocktails are professionally mixed and served by a friendly and competent team. We would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again for future visits to Copenhagen.

The Socialist, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Copenhagen Center Copenhagen|0.27km from The King's New Square
My husband and I traveled in September 2023, stayed two nights as Platinum members. We had used two of our Suite Night Awards and was notified 4 days prior of our upgrade so we were initially excited for stay - the suite was supposed to have an outdoor terrace which we we're really looking forward to. With prices of hotels in general in Copenhagen, we had booked a regular room for around $350/night, and after reading the bad reviews we were thankful for the suite upgrade hoping it would make it worth the money (many of the bad reviews were regarding room size, so we thought we dodged a bullet) We arrive a little after 2pm, after walking from the metro station. We were told our room was not available because they had platinum members who had a late check-out; no problem - we stored our luggage and walked around a bit. We came back at 4pm and our room was ready (luggage was not brought to the room which would have been a nice touch) - when we entered our ”suite” it was not the suite we had been promised, it was a weird two floor loft, no balcony/outdoor space. Small bathroom without tub - it looked weirdly out of the 70s with wall to wall carpet. We quickly learned that the walls to the outside are not sound proof, even on the 5th floor - voices, garbage, bottles, we could hear everything. When you walk in, reception isn't visible - only a sterile looking concrete bar in the middle of the room. No one greeted us. I had to ask the ”bartender?” where reception was - she pointed to a small desk behind a huge pillar, not visible when walking through the door. Breakfast that was included in our room rate was just okay. Both mornings when we went down, service was extremely poor and workers seemed extremely disorganized - the first morning we finished our meal before our coffees came. The wait time was absurd. The second morning I asked my husband to go down and order our breakfast while I walked ten minutes to Anderson & Maillard to pick up pastries and by the time I got back our table was still empty. We had a late flight (5pm) our last day, so we asked for late check-out and we're told no... that they needed time to clean the room. I was sort of taken aback by this because we, ourselves, couldn't check-in at 2pm given a late check-out when we first arrived. Plus, it's supposed to be guaranteed by Tribute Portfolio hotels for status members but apparently they don't honor that. We asked for an extra half hour, so we had to be out by 12:30pm ET. The bathroom shower didn't drain and is ”curbless” so water flooded the entire bathroom every time; we couldn't take back to back showers, instead having to wait until the water went down beforehand. Service was absolutely terrible for the amount of money they charge. It felt like they (the hotel and the workers) want to be this very edgy, hip place but fail to remedy the basics of customer service and the hospitality industry. We were glad to check-out and move onto our next destination, which says a
