Edgewater Inn and Suites

They have a lot of renovations going on but our room was quiet, big, clean and comfortable. It had a microwave, mini fridge and big smart TV. We enjoyed the rain shower and nice thick towels. Staff were all friendly. 24 hour coffee and tea bar was great. I liked that it so close to Safeway grocery where we bought some hot food for dinner and breakfast. Will book here again if we go to Coos Bay on the future.

Breakfast is OK, the bed is big enough to take the children to sleep, the hotel is on the edge of the city and parking is free.

My husband and I have been coming here since 1997. It was a clean, quiet, family-friendly, affordable place with a great complimentary hot breakfast buffet. And now it no longer resembles our last 2018 stay! The ”breakfast” has been reduced to a granola bar and micro danish in a brown bag. Yogurt and pineapple juice was available in the nearby cooler. The restaurant in the lobby building has closed, no coffee offered here as well. The inroom coffee produced an orange coffee product. Same fee per room, over half of the motel was vacant. The crowd this motel attracts is questionable. In a huge complex with ample parking we were given a room in the back. There was powerful mildew stench when we first opened the door. It would have been nice to open the window to air the room out, but the windows couldn't be opened! The carpet was stained and the furniture was dated. There was a dark wet ring of liquid under the ice bucket and cups. We didn't sleep well with the surly guests next door coming into their room at midnight to 4 am, slamming the door, and having a smoke and loud conversation on the balcony. Two different groups each night who parked their commercial trucks against our car with an entire parking lot to use. They gave us hard looks when we looked out out window, and we didn't feel safe. In fairness, the bathroom was clean, the shower was very nice, and there was plenty of room for travel items. But we left exhausted, more than disappointed, and we will never be back.

We booked 3 nights bc of proximity to great beach. At check-in, we were told that the bathroom sink in our room drains slowly because it doesn't have a proper roof vent, so only use that water sparingly. We were careful, but the sink was completely stopped up and not draining at all. When we asked to have it fixed, we were told that staff could not come in the room if we or our belongings were in the room! That was going to be the end of it, but I countered, ”We can't stay in the room without a working bathroom sink.” The solution was to move us to another (pet-friendly) room. We lucked out. This was one of the rooms that had been ”upgraded.” It had better mattresses, more functional kitchen (more than 2 forks, 2 knives and 2 spoons), and a much improved bathroom (altho the toilet was installed facing the short wall instead of into the room, so knees are up around your ears when on it). I'd left rings in the previous room, and was able to go back to retrieve them - nice housekeeping staff all around. This was good enough for us to stay. The full-timers in the RV park section were quiet, the road was sometimes loud, but we saw ravens, eagles, great blue herons and lots of sea birds. The beach was fabulous. We checked out clamming materials and had fun with that. Our dog was in heaven. We used the outdoor hose to wash her off, used our own towels from home to dry her off, and left minimal dirt in the room. This place is not for everyone, that's true, and I think it's a bit hit or miss. We made the best of it. Probably wouldn't stay there again, but then, the Washington & Oregon coast identities are full of these funky little old hotels.
