From the beginning, the Cellars-Hohenort went above and beyond for us. The staff, management and property are exceptional. Nestled at the base of Table Mountain, this property offered a quite reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of dishes being offered and a continental spread available for starters. We will definitely come back and stay at this lovely hotel!

Quality, excellence, ingenious, creative, beautiful. Much enjoyed the meal here and ambience. Such a fine building and gardens with discretion and flair. Wonderful mix of vibrant contemporary interiors with classical Cape. Food was wonderfully presented. Recommended. Booking essential.

A beautifully appointed hotel in a delightful setting. The meals in the restaurant, especially the breakfast, were delicious and the staff were excellent. We would highly recommend a stay here.

A welcome return visit to the Cellars where one is always struck by the friendliness of the staff, nothing is too much trouble. Had two excellent breakfasts outside as well as dinner on one night where the menu was varied and we both found exactly what we wanted. Room, spotless as expected; a bath rather than just a shower would have enhanced it further. Gardens looking great, almost had the smaller of the two swimming pools to ourselves. Roll on our next visit.

Excellent hotel in beautiful gardens. The restaurant service in very good and the attention to detail when we asked for something special was 100%. Minor issue with topping up coffee but did not detract from an excellect stay. Thank you Llewellyn and team.

This is a luxury first class hotel. Ably led by Tanya Johnson, she is assisted by her deputy Naco and to mention a few of her lovely staff, Marshall, Honourine, Basheera, Grace, Quiet, Alaska. They greet us like Royalty and call us by our name and are always smiling and kindness itself. Their service matches the five star luxury that this hotel offers. The room we always have is a duplex and is beautifully appointed. The bed is emperor size and so comfortable and the sheets are changed every day. The room is filled every day with drinks and snacks and wine ! We have a lovely private patio with loungers so we can sunbathe in private. The gardens are exquisite and there are lovely walks. The ducks make delightful companions! This is a little slice of heaven and that’s why we have already booked for our 12th visit in 2026.

This was our third stay at the Cellars. This stay we booked a different room, this time in the Hohenort building, adjacent to the Manor House. Our room was on the middle floor. Upon walking in, it was beautiful. It included a verandah overlooking the pool. Not once was the umbrella opened or the cushions put on the outdoor furniture, although when asked if we wanted them to, it was never done. The bathroom was not up par for a hotel of this category. There were no windows, the shower grout was moldy (tends to be standard in many hotels in South Africa), the water pressure was weak, and the worst was the slant of the slippery shower floor. We remarked about it and were told that they would get us a rubber mat. It never arrived. The second day we asked to be transferred to another room, preferable the one we usually stay in. We had to stay in the Hohenort room one more night (the new room wasn't available yet). That particular day we did not have evening room service. Not a big deal but an indication of confusion. I will also add that both nights we were in the Hohenort room, the neighbors above made a lot of noise, walking around, etc. They checked out the following day, but that night the same type of noise persisted. We both mentioned it to the management staff who were surprised. We know what noise "sounds" like, and this was noise. Not talking but the sound of furniture moving. We did feel a bit fussy when we were told nobody had ever complained about this, but what can they say....Our move to the other room was smooth and the reception staff were more than accommodating. The rest of our stay was fine: good water pressure, little or no mold in the shower, and a window in the bathroom. We will gladly return next year really think that they need to address the safety issues of the showers and the staff communication.

If you want a slice of heaven come to the Cellars. This is a truly magnificent hotel and spa. We were looked after as if we were Royalty. Our every need and wish were granted. The staff are amazing, always smiling, always greeting us by our name and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant staff, guided by the wonderful Tanya Johnson, General Manager, reserved our favourite tables for breakfast and dinner every night. Chefs Daniel and Simon cooked two fabulous meals of poached salmon, Cole slaw with a fabulous Asian Dressing and puree potatoes and homemade hollandaise sauce that we requested. But the menu is filled with delicious dishes. It is difficult to choose from the menu - but we did! Nothing is too much trouble here. If you want luxury, beautiful gardens, a beautiful room and exemplary service - come to the Cellars as we have been doing for the past 11 years (missing only 2021). We come for 10 days every year and are booking again for February 2026. Thank you to all the staff for once more caring and making our holiday so enjoyable,
