13 Bees

I recently stayed at the 13 Bees after being recommended by the sewing retreat I was attending. The distance from the town was easily walkable where there are restaurants and shops to enjoy. The 13 Bees is a rustic authentic b and b and it was perfect for my needs. There was enough interaction between the hosts and myself without being annoying. The breakfast was simple but always well presented and the coffee was exactly how I like it. The stay was perfect. If I was scraping the barrel for constructive criticism, I prefer white bedding and a rustic coloured throw on the bed might have lifted the decor of the room. That’s purely my preference though and didn’t take away from the accommodation. I would book the beekeeping experience next year if my retreat has an afternoon off.

I've just returned from a 3 night stay at 13 Bees, what a haven of peace & quiet! This place is a must for nature lovers & birdwatchers alike. The house itself is set in a garden of Eden, surrounded by a variety of beautiful trees and wildflowers. I've never seen so many butterflies! I even managed to spot 2 golden oriels playing tag amongst the trees. The birdsong in the morning was absolutely stupendous and the cacophony of frogs from the river Vienne outside the house in the evenings just made me want to chuckle in delight at the profusion of wildlife. The room itself was huge by UK standards with a large en-suite bathroom & rainfall shower with water pressure to die for! Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. You have everything you could want & an exceptional breakfast to boot. The hosts Amanda & Kevin were really lovely and a total mine of information for all the questions I had to ask about the surrounding area. I may even try one of their bee-keeping taster sessions in the future. The location itself is perfect as it's just a 5 minute stroll to the gorgeous little town of Confolens itself. I will definitely be back!

Amanda and Kevin are the best hosts. I went as part of a sewing retreat and they were brilliant. Breakfast was fresh and the rooms were lovely.

This was my second stay at 13 Bees and I’m already booked in again for next year. Amanda and Kevin are great hosts: friendly and so helpful. My room was big and had everything I needed. The location close to the river is beautiful. Can’t wait to go back next year.

Excellent base from which to explore the local and more distant areas. We had the garden room this time with a massive en suite bathroom The hosts Amanda and Kevin were brilliant as ever with their local information and provided a lovely daily breakfast.

This a hidden oasis, the perfect place to calm the mind, body and soul. The B&B is very comfortable, our room was light and airy and the rest of the house is beautiful. Kevin and Amanda are super hosts, really welcoming and very knowledgeable. Confolens is a great town, lots of history and stunning scenery
