Came here as a treat for a special birthday. I had said this was the case but they obviously didn't care about that! Ordered our drinks for 7 and given the tiniest milk jug, had to ask to be refilled & then for a bigger jug! Tea a huge disappointment, nothing like described or pictures seen. Barely enough for amount of people. 3 types of sandwich (2 for vegan guest) on basic sliced bread. Beef (so dry sandwich couldn't stay together), egg (no cress or anything) and smoked salmon & cream cheese (even though I had spoken & emailed them that one of party couldn't have cheese). 1 each of bite size sausage roll (Tesco's?). Cakes exceedingly poor. Nothing homemade about them. Between 6 we had - 4 fairy cakes, 4 finger slices of lemon drizzle (more drizzle than lemon), 4 small scones cut in half, and 4 very small croissant ends (not sure what happened to the middle?!?). Had to go & find someone to ask for butter, jam & cream for scones. It came on two big plates (red jam looked like someone had dished up some liver). Our vegan guest got a couple of 'chocolate' rice crispy squares. Also had 7 small mince pies with the comment 'the vegan can eat one of them'. So all in all a terrible experience. I should have been warned when they wouldn't email confirmations (chap did say why did I need one when he'd just told me it was okay). Also had to pay full amount 3 days before - they said as they bought in ingredients especially - not for anything we had - local supermarket would have had it in their budget range! So my advice DON'T go, for any reason but especially not for a special treat!!

Where do I start... I could not recommend Hornsbury Mill enough for a wedding venue! Emma the wedding coordinator is absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure our day was exactly how we wanted it. Unfortunately for us the night before our wedding everyone started receiving alerts on their phones for a red alert storm warning! Myself the bride stayed there the night before with my bridesmaids and we were made to feel so calm by all of the staff whilst they put plans in place just in case the storm disrupted our wedding. We got married in the cornloft room which was the most romantic setting with the fairy lights, candles and even the sound of the wind outside. Even though it was Gail force, winds outside Hornsbury alongside the Photographer and Videographer allowed us to do our confetti photo, which actually turned out great with all of the wind! We had to move the rest of our photos inside but they still turned out amazing, it also gave us the opportunity to have photos later on once the wind had started to calm down inside the beautifully lit up gazebo and by the lake where they also have amazing new uplighters. All of our guests came away saying the food was incredible and it was one of the best weddings they had been to. Hornsbury Mill played a massive part in making this happen! Thank you Hornsbury, you gave us our dream day and I hope many more couples choose your venue to marry!

An old mill will nice grounds with 10 rooms but with a bar/restaurant too . I booked a double room for one person with breakfast at a very reasonable price. Bedroom was small but adequate with plenty of natural light with a large bathroom . Tea and coffee making facilities and complementary bottled water were available . All of the staff that I came across were very friendly and helpful . I ate in the restaurant in the evening, which was very good. The restaurant does close at 8 pm but by that they mean last orders so I eventually left the restaurant gone 9 o’clock. The menu is more than adequate and is supplemented by a pizza menu . There is also a small and formal bar all of which are centred around the theme of the watermill which is encased in glass . Breakfast the following morning was first class and I struggled to finish .

We had our wedding here at Hornsbury on 2nd August 2024. From the initial meeting with Paul we knew this was the place for our long awaited wedding. Every contact from them was professional and yet always personal and friendly. We were drawn by the lovely surroundings and the professionally laid back vibes. They have a variety of meal and drink packages, but they are flexible and full of ideas. The food and drink was exceptional. I stayed the night before with some family and we had a fantastic meal and breakfast. On the day the team were on it, kept us involved when they needed to but otherwise they quietly got everything done and moving to make the day go off without a hitch. Paul made an effort to give us a couple of quiet moments, away from the scene for a moment to take it all in which we definitely needed. We had the best day, and we can’t thank the team At Hornsbury enough. I would always always recommend them to anyone looking to book their wedding!!!!

The Wheel Room restaurant Sunday Roast was wonderful. The water wheel was quite a lovely backdrop. It was lit up and the sound enhanced the experience. This combined with really nice lighting made it quite a nice experience. I immediately wished I was with my wife and will bring her as soon as we can schedule a visit and a stay. There is something special about this place - historical, warm, and quality come to mind. I can’t quite explain it. I had a hard time choosing from the menu and finally settled on the Pistachio, walnut, lentil and Brie Wellington. Which was really something I had never experienced before. Normally, I go heavy for the meat, but chose this one because it was something unique and interesting. In the past I had regretted my choice, but in this case I was not disappointed in the least. The dessert menu also presented a challenge to choose and I had to go with the crumble and it delivered! Pleasantly surprised and would go back. I would recommend it for couples and friends.

We stayed for a week just the two of us. Very nice ground floor room with a wet room which was great . Very atmospheric and the staff were really welcoming. The food was very good and of a high standard, for breakfast and evening meal. The lounge and bar were both very comfortable. The bar sold premium lager, pale ale and Inch’s cider, all on draft. The water wheel works and is impressive. It also had a decent wine list. The setting of the hotel could not be any better. The lake was stunning and the gazebo was picturesque. The whole place was ideal for any occasion or just a holiday venue.
