I decided to forgo all the air b&b's in the area and the sterile and expensive Marriotts. Been there, done that. And I was not disappointed. What could have more character than an 1890's vintage inn? Mamie the owner and her son Murphy were the epitome of Southern charm and hospitality. And I might add that Murphy is a master biscuit maker. My favorite part of my stay was hanging out on the shady porch that stretches the length of the inn and watching the neighborhood go by. The Chattahoochee River and downtown shops and restaurants are a short walk away. Soft springtime days and nights. It was hard to leave.

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would love to be able to describe the rooms and facilities, unfortunately I never got the chance. I travel extensively and I had planned a trip to Columbus with my wife for a special occasion. We much prefer to stay at historic B&Bs for getaways like this, and the Rothschild-Pound House looked like a great choice. Most hotels were booked in town (which maybe should have been a clue as to how there was an available room here). On July 1st, I made a reservation for the 12th at which point my credit card was promptly charged the full amount. The day before I was to arrive, I received a phone message at 6:30am stating that they were having the floors redone and would be cancelling my reservation. I'm not sure how they didn't realize they'd be having the floors done that day until 24 hours beforehand and nowhere on their website or in any correspondence is there a mention of renovations. Their own policy, if I had tried to cancel my reservation, is "Cancelation must be made 14 days in advance of the check-in date. If canceled after that, a 50% credit will be offered for a future stay." I returned the call to see how they would offer to make this right on such short notice and it went straight to voicemail. 6 hours later, I received a call-back from Mamie Pound. Her advice was for me to book at another hotel in Columbus and offered to give me the phone number of the Columbus Marriot. Less than helpful, to say the least. Not even an offer of a 50% credit off of a future stay as per their own policy (not that I would ever actually consider staying here in the future). When I stated the facts back to her, she became very defensive and accused me of arguing with her. (You can see all of the other reviews on-line regarding the owner’s defensiveness.) I was in the middle of asking another question when she simply hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional, rude, and no way to build customer goodwill. As of this writing, my credit card still has not been refunded. My advice, if you are traveling to Columbus, is to book your stay elsewhere than at the Rothschild-Pound House. I was forced to.

This poor place should not be advertised. It’s run down, dirty and the owner lives in Europe. That’s why all of the reviews mention all communications are by text. The care taker is nice man but is limited in ability to get keep the place clean. Room was dusty, floors dirty, plumbing leaked. Embarrassing. Went back to Columbus this year for same mtg, we joked about not staying here again. Cannot believe Trip Advisor allows this listing. It reminds me of the Airbnb scams in London.

This was a disappointing experience, especially considering this was a special trip to see a family member in RS. The room was not ready upon check in, and the owner asked us to come back later. When we came back, we found out the room we booked was not available, and instead a small room with one bed was offered. We had been traveling all day and my phone was dead, so I made the mistake of staying. The services listed, like champagne and breakfast, are not available. Our room didn't have a functional bathroom door, and we left as soon as we could. After communicating with the owner, she told me breakfast is an additional cost.

I spoke with Mamie quite often while planning our romantic getaway. She was very friendly and accommodating. When I arrived, I was pleased with the location and the area was very quiet. Mamie showed me around the cottage and gave us restaurant suggestions. When I booked, I knew it was an older home, wooden floors, older style doors, dated decor, but all of that adds to the charm. The layout flowed well, The layout flowed and the neighborhood was very quiet at night. Mamie made us aware of renovating going on in the buildings so all things considered, it was very nice and we will definitely visit there again. I think when the renovations are done, it will be even more attractive. We will definitely go back.

Definitely a Bed, no Breakfast. We were escaping for the weekend and my wife had been emailing/texting with owner about our visit. We arrived at checkin time and had to text have someone show us to our room. They were busy helping prep a contestant for Miss Georgia Comptwtuon that night. We were told there was no evening reception, as listed on website, and there was no sit down breakfast, that we are accustomed to when web site says free breakfast as part of the Inn title. We were put in the Governor Forsythe Suite, which had a Jacuzzi tub and fire place. The shower function in the tub was a bit awkward and steps out of tub could be slippery. The power dropped out on our room, killing the AC that eas cooling room down. Power in main house was going and response was slow to our inquiry about issue. We went to dinner and the issue was resolved when we got back. It was also odd that the room had not ability to drink water -either bottled or cups from the tap. Bed was pretty comfortable. We did have some nice cinnamon rolls waiting for us on the porch and could make Kuerig Coffee. Nice historic home, but not worthy of previous ratings or price for the experience you receive.

Two months ago I made a reservation at this Bed & Breakfast for this week, and chose one of the cottages that is across the street from the main house. The morning we were arriving, the owner called and mentioned that they were renovating that cottage and that she had moved us to the one next to it. We should have been told beforehand; poor communication on her part. She said that the cottage was the same size, but the one we had chosen was advertised as sleeping four and this one only slept two; and since they were side by side we could see that one was longer so definitely had more space. She said we could go directly to the cottage; no need to come to the main house. The cottage needed TLC and the bathtub had mold, but I am not getting into details. Shortly after, we walked to the main house to meet her and ask a few questions but the door was locked. I called her and she did not answer. I texted her and she said she was not there but we could text, so I started asking my questions mainly at what time is breakfast and also the cocktail hour that they advertise. She said she was doing neither because they were renovating! A B&B that does not offer breakfast??? We definitely should have been told this beforehand! A simple email stating this would have been the right thing to do. I texted that to her and said we were very disappointed and as we continued to text, she came out of the house; so she was inside the entire time and had said she was not at home. I hate when people lie to me; totally wrong. One of the reasons we love staying in B&Bs is because the owners are proud of their place and they are hospitable; NOT here. She became rude and we left. Very disappointed of the interaction and total lack of communication. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!!

Really rather disappointing. we had high hopes as it looked a nice building and the room was interesting enough, but there was little by way of amenities in the room, or in the main house and no breakfast was offered. In the morning, we just left as there appeared to be no one around. You could park outside in the street and Columbus is an interesting place itself to visit.

Mamie was very helpful with reserving the reservation for our one night stay. She called that day to ask what time we would be arriving (to accommodate her house cleaning schedule), and asked about any food diets or restrictions. I told her we were trying to do low carb and omelettes would be great on Saturday morning. She assured me she would accommodate. We arrived that night, to great other guests staying there for a convention. They were very nice. Wine and cheese was served, although she was out of red wine when we arrived (bummer). The room we stayed in (Edward Lloyd Thomas Suite) was nice, but there were some large tears in the drapes, as they were antique and sun worn. It was in a historic home and was generally nice. Very nice neighborhood and seemed relatively safe. We assumed breakfast was going to be served in the morning, and we showed up to the serving area at 8:15A.M. The lights were all off and the doors were clearly locked. We came back about 10:30A.M., after going to visit the downtown area. Mamie said she served breakfast at 9:00A.M. and we had missed it. She also said a text was sent. After checking my phone, I never received any texts and none of the other guests knew of a breakfast. While this wasn't a horrible experience, I would prefer a cleaner hotel next time. I was kind of disappointed by this bed and breakfast to celebrate my anniversary.
