We recently stayed at Colonsay Hotel, and we absolutely loved it. The hotel's proximity to the harbor was very convenient for us since we didn't have our car. As soon as we got off the ferry, we saw the beautiful hotel up on the hill overlooking the sea. The room we stayed in and the restaurant experience were both amazing, and we're very grateful to the staff for making our stay so memorable. A special thanks to Ioana and Lucas, who served us in the restaurant and at the bar and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Even though we had only planned to visit Colonsay once, we're now thinking of booking another trip to the island because we felt so recharged after our stay. Both the hotel and the island are absolutely fantastic and worth a visit. Thank you, Colonsay Hotel, for a lovely stay!

This is the place to be in Colonsay! The boutique hotel is in a historic building located in a beautiful parc and few minutes away driving from ferry. It is a small very cosy hotel where our room was warm and nicely decorated. The restaurant has big windows with stunning view on Jura.We ate a delicious breakfast there, and the menu offers a wide choice. We also had dinner and the quality is excellent.Fresh oysters and scallops! The hotel downstairs is like a house with three different big rooms furnished with couches and a chimney.Whereever you sit the view is relaxing,on the 2 terrasses and garden. In the afternoon we sat outside in the garden and had tea.Like all of Colonsay island, here you can enjoy a peaceful moment in the silence. We hope to go back next August.

Good location just 5 minutes walk up from the harbour, or one minute drive to the parking area. We had a standard bedroom which had a comfortable bed, was nicely furnished, with a good en-suite shower room. The several lounges, sitting areas and bar make the whole place a country house feel and centre of the island community. The restaurant looks out to the bay and serves a wide choice of delicious meals. The staff work very hard to give everyone a great stay.

The room was extremely comfortable! Definitely luxury bedding, and the room was clean, and luxury Hebridean soaps and shampoo were provided. Delicious meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner - very tasty all the way around). Service - small staff, expect delays if more than 2 parties are on premises (an island of 127 inhabitants can only do so much). Plan on being inconvenienced during your stay, and don’t plan on internet in your room. We were told internet reached our room, and the guest network did not reach our room, and despite our asking multiple times for a password for one of the three hotel networks that did show as available in our room, we were rudely ignored and dismissed. Overall, we would stay here again unless we were here for longer than 3 days and rented a self catering house now that we know the overnight arrangements, since we would plan accordingly.

Wonderfully appointed and historic building and grounds. Much thought has gone to updating this historic building. Multiple lounges, sitting areas and rooms are beautifully appointed. Great views. There isn't an elevator and at times is short staffed. Also enjoyed restaurant. reviewed separately.

Stayed two nights in late March so hotel was lovely and quiet. Staff were lovely, very eager to help with anything we needed. Room was lovely as we had a window with a sea view and a window with a garden view Real log fire was going in the bar seating area as well as the dining area. Lovely and cosy. Food was a good standard. Had steak one night, salmon the other, both were amazing Would certainly stay here again

Had a 2 night stay here in May. The hotel is a few minutes walk from ferry terminal. The check in was easy and I was shown to my room. The staff were all friendly and acted in a professional manner. The restuarant was pleasant and the food good. as was the breakfast. The only complaint I had was that the toilet had not been flushed properly after the previous occupant had used it.

It now seems widely recognised (amongst staff and guests) that CH is seriously understaffed, with a feeling of the hotel being rundown. A simple example would be how lightbulbs had not been replaced in our room (we were missing four); the Wi-Fi did not work for the entire period of our stay (three nights); the bathroom was very tired, and yet the charge was over £200 a night; the breakfasts were poorly put together, and the options on the evening list were sparse, particularly for vegetarians; there are not enough people on call to do the minimum jobs of welcoming, running the bar, waiting on the tables. Staff were pleasant, but completely overrun and exhausted. The hotel has a fantastic history and an incredible reputation which is fast being tarnished. Time to put money back into the hotel, not just extract it.
