"Our experience was okay overall, there were some notable points to mention. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Universidade de Coimbra and Sofia Street, making it super convenient for exploring. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, which I really appreciated. However, the services could use some improvement; there were no basic amenities like a dental kit for the morning, and the lift was not functioning, which was quite inconvenient. My stay was good, but it definitely could have been much better with enhanced service and those basic amenities."
"Beautiful building and spacious rooms
Centrally located, within walking distance to main sights. The building is nicely renovated. Rooms are spacious. A comfortable place to stay in Coimbra."
"The hotel is very well located with very friendly and competent staff, good service, friendlyness and information. The hotel was very clean and well-signified, and the room was comfortable enough but there was a small table because there was nowhere to put the computer for normal use. Not so the bath was completely insufficient by the size of the bath. It was just in, and for example to use the washing machine simply to wash your hands was swallowed the whole floor as it was ”minimalist” of 30x20 cm.; the cup of the bathroom without little place and the shower-mampara just to be able to move. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable."
"Good place. nice, handsome people. I needed to postpone the check out 1h and it was possible. The room smells huid. The walls with humidity. It was difficult to breathe in the room. The morning when I was waking, the walls and windows filled with water/humidity.
I work in Health. I know this is a very serious condition for the respiratory health of those who stay there. One night I had to sleep with the openest window to smell the humidity. I think they were in the room, and I think they were in the room, and I was not informed that they would come in without my knowledge."
"Solar Antigo is a must-visit in Coimbra for anyone seeking a top-notch experience. We stayed in a room with a jacuzzi and a stunning view of the city, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was my wife’s birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and celebrated. They even included a small cake with a candle for the in-room breakfast—such a thoughtful touch! The welcome sparkling wine and cake were also a delightful surprise. Their exceptional attention to detail and outstanding customer service truly set them apart. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay!"
"I have mixed feelings about my experience in this hotel, the reason is that it has an unusual concept with a design-oriented approach, which attracted a designer like me. As I checked in late and tired, the friendly staff offering me an ice cold beer was a nice start. The fact that the room was a windowless box made me a little uneasy at first, although I am not claustrophobic, but I was relieved by the good lighting and the rain shower. The hotel is really a must-experience and appeals more to young guests with its more affordable price compared to others. The only negative point was that it wasn't clean enough, the sheet metal on the bed and dust on the floor prevented the perfect experience."
"Hotel restaurant is very good. The breakfast had a decent variety specially taking into account the price per night.
The rooms are new but they are poorly insulated when it comes to noise, you can hear everything going on outside. If someone closes the door, you hear it like its your room."
"The hotel has a very young style with a musical theme, excellent location to walk to the center.
The room was very small, with various objects hanging on the walls that further reduce the space, next to the bed was hanging a sort of wooden guitar.
The bathroom is small but functional, the shower towels are the size of face towels and are very thin making it very difficult to dry yourself.
Good general cleanliness.
The hotel has a paid parking."
"I loved. Very professional service. The building is beautiful. My room had a spectacular view over the Mondego River. All the decoration and details of the hotel transport us to the 1920s, a true journey through time. The furniture is original but very well looked after. The elevator, the living and reading room, the revolving door, the tea room where breakfast is served, everything transports us to the luxurious past of the 1920s. Those who like old things and feeling transported back in time will love it. The temperature is always very pleasant and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast had a good variety to choose from."

Great
GGuest UserLocated in the centre of Coimbra, near the river and all the main tourist attractions of the city. The room was very comfortable and comfortable (by saying something the coats are of viscolatex are very hard, high) . The shower and toilet recreates the Joanina Library very original and comfortable with crystal mampares.
The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. We were kept in the baggage until afternoon without cost.
JJUNThe hotel is next to the university, it is very convenient to play, the hotel is located on the mountain, from the train station to the hotel, it is better to call a taxi!
AAndrewA superb historic property under private management and ownership - actually, in the ownership of the same family for over 400 years altho’ now a member of the Small Luxury Hotels marketing system affiliated with Hilton. The property in its adjoining Gardens are a destination in themselves, along with the nearby (400m) Santa Clara monastery. They may be sufficient for some visitors, but it’s about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Coimbra and it’s main historical area.
Arthur Wellesley - aka Viscount Wellington - was a visitor during his Iberian campaign, so you’re in good company.
Staff are superb and obviously hand picked by the owner. The receptionist when I arrived (Evening of Sunday 16 February) was simply the best I’ve ever experienced, Singapore, Bangkok and Tokyo included. Genuinely fascinating to talk to about the history of the building and some of the previous guests (famous but ‘passed’ celebrities so no confidence is breached).
Best to stay in the rooms in the main building if possible, if tales of the previous occupant intrigue. Although the spa Is impressive – up to best Thai standards - and I guess the adjoining spa rooms may be equally good.
Overall, an absolute gem that far exceeded expectations.
AAnonymous UserWe stayed in the room on the second floor.
I had to climb a little steep stairs with a heavy suitcase, but the staff was very helpful to carry it. If you have heavy luggage, I think you can support it if you tell it in advance. The staff were very kind.
The building and the room were clean, and there was a kitchen and it was good to be able to cook simple food.
The only thing I was worried about was that the voice was easy to pass through, probably because of the structure of the building, and the conversation of the receptionist and other guests was easy to reach the room. However, there was no big noise when we stayed and we were able to spend comfortably.
Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.
JJiaselegedechenshubaoThere is only one bottle of water in the room and you have to buy the rest by yourself because I don’t know if the water from the faucet is edible. The other ones are pretty good.
GGuest UserExcellent location, very convenient next to the train station in the center of Konbula. The facilities in the room need to be improved. No drinking water is provided. The electric kettle is also not served. Fortunately, I have time to go to the supermarket to buy bottled water for emergency!
GGuest UserEspaço muito lindo, bem cuidado, instalação com sossego e ambiente relaxante, excelente pequeno almoço.
Atendimento com gentileza e simpatia.
Aa4292The hotel is in the city center, within walking distance to the monastery, city hall, there are supermarkets and restaurants nearby, life is very convenient. Parking is free in the public underground parking lot not far away, very good. The breakfast tastes good.
SShirleyleyThe hotel is located between the old and new railway stations, and there is a free shuttle bus between the two stations. After getting off the bus, the hotel is across the road. The long-distance bus stop is only a five-minute walk away. It is only ten minutes walk from the hotel to the city center, the location is very convenient!
The only downside of the hotel is that there is no elevator, the room I stayed in was on the second floor, but fortunately the staff was very friendly to help with the luggage on the room when I checked in. The room is clean and has a hand dish, so even sharing the bathroom is very convenient, sharing two bathrooms on each floor, sharing a kitchen and dining room on the first floor, there is a refrigerator and cooking utensils in the kitchen.
