The first time was six years ago, the service quality was very good, so it was my first choice when I came to Ireland after the new crown. Unfortunately, the whole feeling this time was far from the first time, and I was quite disappointed☹️… First of all, the wireless network in the room was often interrupted or there was no signal. I called the front desk and the reply we got was that the signal was not good in the countryside. Now that technology is so advanced, such a reason is really far-fetched. Secondly, there was no drinking water in the room. I asked the waiter to bring water, but the waiter asked us to get it ourselves. Is this the service that a star-rated hotel should have? I understand that the store uses handwritten menus to show their high-end, but the font of the entire menu is very difficult to read. It is so dense that people feel dizzy. It is not the kind of comfortable and clear font and layout. Since it is a castle hotel, people should be able to walk around. It was possible six years ago, but now many places are surrounded by gates. It is impossible to walk around.

While setting up our tour with Overland Ireland, we did our research and knew we wanted to stay at Abbeyglen Castle. They made the arrangements and we were able to stay for one night in an authentic castle. These accommodations were above and beyond our expectations. Once we checked into our beautiful rooms, everyone is invited to the bar area where piano music is being played and glasses of prosecco were served. While enjoying the prosecco, our picture was taken and then handed to us during dinner as a memento. One of the owners gave a nice history of the area and the castle. The food and service were impeccable. When the main dish is service the clothe is removed simultaneously off each plate, what an elegant touch. They also put the flag of your home country on your table. It was fun to see where everyone was from and made you feel connected. This should be a MUST if you can arrange it.

Clean, spacious room and bathroom with lovely decor. Mattress was extremely comfortable. Had a beautiful harbor view. Short stroll into town and we are in our mid sixties, early seventies. Host and hostess were very gracious. Breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely glasses sunroom. Would recommend without hesitation.

Our anniversary trip was amazing, I cannot fault this hotel in any way. The brothers who own the hotel are very hands on and personable. Rooms, food and entertainment were fantastic, we didn't want to leave. I especially loved the sing song in the piano room. Brian gave a free champagne reception every eve with a short historical talk about Clifden. Will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay! We had an amazing dinner here, the food is really great, but it is the friendly, welcoming, entertaining staff that make this place great! We really enjoyed the welcome drinks where they give the history of the castle and surrounding area.

A unique and luxurious guest house in the heart of Connemara. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by wonderful art and antique furniture, then look no further. Spacious rooms, most with views across the harbour. Breakfast with fresh fish as an option.

My second visit... this place is exceptional.I really appreciated the welcoming! It's an intresting mix of cosyness, historical place, nice view, absolutely nice kitchen and a warm an professional team from owner to waiter. The attention they put o the diningroom with the nice gesture by adding our nationaltyflagg is funny and can be used to come in touch with others if you want. The rooms are very cosy, absolutely calm, we really enjoyed our stay.

So refreshing. Quite. Loads of history. Owner gives nightly toast with history of the castle. Food and service excellent. Grounds stunning. Easy walk to city center. Comfortable and clean. I would easily stay here again without a single hesitation.
