This was our first overnight here on our way down to the south of France, as our regular hotel was fully booked. It didn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful chateau amidst vines with a lovely pool and charming gardens. Sadly I had broken my ankle and was on crutches but the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. They advised that we change our original room, with steps going up to it, for a garden suite, which only cost a little extra. Here we had our own sitting room, kitchen and dining room as well as outside garden for our dogs. The wine, the local Viré Clessé is delicious and we were able to purchase it directly from the hotel. I was transported the short distance to dinner in the hotel’s golf buggy, which was very kind of them. Dinner was divine. A wonderful choice of gourmet dishes, all of which were beautifully presented and delicious. The next morning, a basket of continental breakfast was delivered to us, which we ate in our private garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff and we will not hesitate in returning, hopefully for me on two feet next time. A great find near to Macon and the motorway for onward journeys.
