Amazing

Hotel was lovely, room was very spacious and bathroom was newly refurbished, although the bath was a bit too high, making getting out of the shower a little awkward. Food, I didn't think was too good. While breakfast came on a large plate, and there was plenty to eat, if only it could be eaten. Bacon and sausage seemed like they had been cooked ages ago, and were tough and cold (having said that - I like my food piping hot). Entertainment was excellent - something for everyone. I would definitely go back. Lovely helpful staff too. Yes, we had a great time

Day out in Ballyvaughan staying in Hyland Hotel. Couple in 60’s Hotel was lovely. A bit aged but that’s fine. Breakfast very poor… cold and eggs raw. Didn’t eat much if it.

Ballyvaughan is a beautiful little village with stunning views. Sadly this hotel is not the best and could really do much better. It’s badly in need of an upgrade and more staff. The room was spacious but clearly hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed. The bedding was old and cheap and the bathroom was quite shoddy. It took a good 5 minutes for the shower to warm up to a decent temperature. The carpet in the communal areas was extremely worn and frayed particularly up to the first floor. We paid for breakfast and I really wish we hadn’t. Again cheap ingredients and the scrambled egg was inedible. The 2 staff on duty were run ragged and one was having to cover a busy breakfast service and reception for guests checking out. This hotel is badly in need of a revamp .. and extra staff to bring it up to a reasonable standard. I’m sorry to say it’s nowhere near a 3 star and is overpriced. I’m sure with some investment this could be a very good hotel in a superb location.

In a good location for visiting the amazing sites. Good parking available. The hotel is in need of an upgrade. Our room was small and had a terrible smell in the bathroom. A leak ? Carpets are threadbare & stained. No welcome biscuits. Dinner was ok. Limited menu. A cosy bar area. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hidden gem. Lovely comfortable hotel with the friendliest of staff. A quirky hotel with well presented rooms and lovely seating areas. Very clean and breakfast was very good. Great value for money. Don’t pass this one out. Great place to tour north Clare and just relax and take in the scenery.

Have mixed feelings about this hotel - the location is great ; some of the staff were wonderful in particular the french staff at breakfast time ; a nice breakfast menu however severely understaffed one morning ; a nice touch of artisan chocolates waiting in the room are the positives. The downsides are general wear and tear, shabbiness and a need for upgrading throughout the building especially as you walk into the reception which has the worst, most off-putting smell of frying (very easily resolved with a diffuser) ; view of the carpark for a lot of rooms ; overpriced for what you get.

The room was small, the furniture very outdated. The caulking in the bathroom was amateurish. One of the chairs fell apart when I sat on it. The view was nothing to look at: a hedge and 6 garbage containers. Breakfast was chaos. Too many guests, too few staff. Buffet was empty and was not replenished or replenished too slowly. Complained at reception but nothing was done. Very expensive hotel for what you get. We will never come here again.

We ate in the bar. We won't be back. It was not a good experience. Very poor plate with one piece of totally overcooked fish, a so-called 'celtic salad' of tough leaved, chips, a tiny pot of minted peas and another of mayonnaise. The chips were OK, everything else was not.

Went here for food evening time not much choice on menu but pricey. Given glasses with jug of water glasses were dirty stained wouldn't use them place could do with a revamp wouldn't go back again. Staff young and inexperienced a experienced staff would have not handed out glasses in that state

Lovely pub and Hotel in Ballyvaughan on the coast. A beautiful spot with friendly staff from reception to the bar and throughout our stay. Would highly recommend a stay if going to the West coast of Ireland, it is a great jump off point for many sights!

Good points are its location, staff and its free car parking. That's it. This hotel is not cheap, even midweek. My room was large. Bathroom was recently refurbished. However there was no hot water at times. Furniture is old and shabby. It was a very cool day and night However the heating did not start working until 8pm. It's operated from a central control it would seem. The TV had an option of perhaps 10 channels however, only 1 worked. Reception said sometimes tv signal is bad. Walls are paper thin, I could hear every snore, cough and fart from the occupants next door. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Our road trip around the West coast of Ireland was a great experience, we stayed in many different places ( 8 altogether ) and all of them were brilliant…… apart from this one. It was unwelcoming, very shabby and not at all what we expected. The room was reasonably clean but oh so tatty, curtains hanging off, lights not working, bathroom in desperate need of some tlc, food was just about mediocre and half the place was closed too. It just lacked any care. Thankfully only stayed one night. Check out was indifferent and a direct contrast to everywhere else we stayed. There was none of the warm Irish banter we had got used to. Can’t recommend it but ok if you really just need a place to stay in between better places. Disappointed.

Great little hotel in the burren, fantastic live music both nights we were staying. Such a shame the rest of this quaint village has gone we used to frequent but sadly now not much point, little to nothing open. Another rural village decimated by poor government policy on house migrants

Very Good

There wasn't anything we disliked about the Hylands Burren. Our room was pretty basic with what appeared to be deliberately older decor to create an ambiance of times past-- but comfortable still. My wife enjoyed watching the horses in the pasture across from our room window. We ate at the on-site restaurant three times, once each for sit-down dinner (very good), dessert (also very good), and the breakfast buffet (just OK). The room rate was surprisingly pricier than the other hotels we stayed at during this trip.
