Visited Glenncarrig as part of their fish & stay packages in September 2024 with 4 other friends. Accommodation was great, clean and comfortable; shared spaces (games room and lounge) were great for winding down at the end of the day. Hospitality was great, both Mary and Luke were friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. Foodwise, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were part of the fishing package; every meal was delicious and portion sizes were very generous - I ended up leaving half a stone heavier than when I arrived! Standouts being the fresh scones that came out with breakfast, Tuna and Apple baguette for lunch and the Fresh Pollack and chips! Had some time to check out the local scenery and the walks along the coast road are lovely and fairly flat heading west to Kilbaha and onwards to Loop Head. For those interested in birds, there's plenty to see while walking past the fields and marshland, highlights being Marsh Harriers and loads of Curlew; I wished it taken a book for the species as there were loads of small birds in hedge rows I didn't recognise. Inshore there were a lot of terns and gannets with the offshore highlights being Great and Artic Skuas, sooty shearwaters and lots of storm petrels. It was great seeing the bottlenose dolphins in the estuary, there were seals in most little bays but the big highlight was the basking sharks jumping off loop head; we saw them from the boat which was awesome and really close, but seeing them off the headland was fantastic as you could see them reacting to each other over a large area. If you are in the area at this time of year, I'd highly recommend visiting the lighthouse to watch these massive animals jumping! Another lovely place to visit is the Bridges of Ross would be a lovely place for a picnic! Would recommend visiting and especially taking advantage of the fish and stay package!

The Loop Head Peninsula has very little accommodation - although nearby Kilkee has many. But this was much nicer and in fact it was the best B&B we stayed in during our trip to Ireland. It is less than 2 miles from Carrigaholt village where there is a restaurant. Our room was a good size, and the bathroom was very clean and functional. The rest of the house was sparkling clean too. Peaceful night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning was super and cooked to order. The star of the show is the owner, who is not only a very talented cook but a wonderful and genuinely welcoming host. We would love to go back and stay a few nights. Thank you.

Wonderful place. The sort of B&B you always hope to find in Ireland. Small, clean, family-run, great breakfasts. Very reasonable prices. Glencarrig B&B offers all this and more. Idylllic location on a working farm near the sea with sea views. Maybe 4 bedrooms? No crowding. Awesome breakfasts provoded by Mary the host. She is great and will offer you tea and cookies when you arrive and give you tips for sighteseeing. Our stay was pure relaxation. Mary's partner Luke runs a dep sea fishing boat and on the way to the fishing grounds, you get to dolphin watch!

First class five star B&B in a rural location on the owners's own farm! It was so quiet and peaceful. We loved it. It is a short walk to Carrgaholt, the little seaside village. It is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Loop Head Peninsula. The whole place was totally clean including our bedroom. Breakfast was fantastic. We only stayed one night but I would happily have spent our entire irish trip there. Mary the owner is a very kind and welcoming person.

The Irish have long set the bar for the B& B experience and Glencarrig Farmhouse has raised it. The country setting is idyllic yet accessible and easy to find. Mary is completely invested in ensuring guests feel welcome. Her breakfasts are legendary.

The perfect place to stay if you are visiting amazing Loop Head. We were warmly greeted by Mary, who offered tea and scones on arrival! Our room was fine although I wish the rooms were bigger. But for 2 persons it was fine. The house, room, bathroom were spotless clean. We loved the quiet and peace of Mary's and Luke's home and slept like logs! Mary sent us on our way with gifts of more scones and some sticky toffee pudding. Thank you!

Homemade perfect breakfast with pancakes, scones, anything you wanted. Really really nice and one of the top of over 20 b and b's during our trip. This b and b also serves as a fishing destination as the husband is a professional deep sea fishing captain. Easy parking. Super view of her farm.

Mary is the perfect host at Glen Carrig. She greeted us (two grizzled bikers) with warmth and enthusiasm. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and warm. There are plenty of facilities, such as a games room, although we didn’t use it. Her porter cake which she gave us for our travels the next day was delicious, as is her famed sticky toffee pudding. We had a super breakfast in convivial company with a Polish lady and her cousin. Mary’s baking is legendary and it’s a place I’d love to come back to. parking is super-safe there. It’s a bit too far to walk into Carigaholt, so take a car or bike to the Long Dock for dinner. Great stay in a a very friendly place with lovely views of the Shannon (and the best baking in Ireland). Did I mention the baking?
